They only did the outside and when I asked him about going inside he said that is appliance issue. My husband ended up purchasing brushes on Amazon and cleaned the vent out from inside, which in turn made him have to clean it out from the outside again. Not to mention all the lint that it pushed through on the roof again. Very frustrating. I actually took a picture and emailed it to them with all the lint that was taken out but never got a response.

When it stopped heating in Winter (thankfully, we have back-up propane), CM quoted us $3,200 for a thermal expansion valve (TXV) replacement. They explicitly said that while the parts were covered under warranty, the labor was not. We got a second opinion -- and while the part failed, the second company pointed out that we had a 10 year parts and labor warranty (he was easily able to get to this info, which means CM should have, too -- especially since they sold it to me). I've now called CM several times to inform them that they need to cover the repair, but I've been ghosted. I assume this is likely because they can charge a higher rate for labor on a customer-pay job than they can be paid by the warranty company and are hoping I'll go to another company, but I have no proof of that. As far as I'm concerned, they sold me the unit and the warranty -- and they can do the repair. Once the warranty is over? I'll never deal with CM again.

The pacific northwest has typically been a temperate climate that does not require cooling, but I could no longer take the heat since opening the windows at night was no longer sufficiently cooling my house. Previously my house was heated with natural gas and I'd like to eventually disconnect from natural case to reduce my environmental impact. Given these factors, I decided that a heat pump is my best choice and I lined up 5 contractors to give me bids. My house has 3 foot property lines and I didn't want to forced into listening to a loud heat pump when relaxing on my deck, so I was pretty constrained on how loud the condensing tower can be and where it can be placed. The best place for the condensing tower was next to my natural gas meter, but this is not to code unless the venting for the meter is moved to a location which is "safe". Snohomish Valley Heating & AC was the only contractor willing to add a proper vent and install a unit which would be quiet enough for me to sit on my deck and not be frustrated with loud heat pump noises. They installed a Daikin VRV unit which is whisper quiet. They estimated 4 days for the install, but did it in record time of 2 days! Just in time for the next heat wave to hit. Since the unit was installed next to my utility closet door (which contains the indoor unit), I requested to have a way to prevent the door from hitting the outdoor unit and they installed this for me. I also complained about the indoor unit noise and they fixed that problem by changing the inflow vent in my house which was making the noise (I assumed it was the indoor unit, but it was really the vent for the unit which was making the noise). During inspection, there was one minor issue with not having a secondary drain on the indoor unit, but if they had done a garage install that would not be required, so I assume this was simply an oversight. They said they would install the secondary overflow so the install is to code. Also, they requested that when the winter month's arrive we have them visit to check on the heating unit to make sure it is operating correctly. Great service, great product, satisfied customer! The warranty is for 10 years, given that this is the first month into owning this unit, I can't say how well they last or how much maintenance is required, but the reputation for Daikin units seems to indicate that this should not be an issue.

I then asked if they could also quote me on routine maintenance for our furnace. They could have easily charged me for an added service, but told me they had a fall special for doing both jobs together that was $30 less than what they had quoted me for just the HVAC work! Says a lot about them, I think. Of course, it's the actual work that matters most. My service tech, Matt, called enroute and gave me an accurate time of arrival. He was very professional and even showed how to do periodic cleaning. He found a leak in our furnace that needed a small repair. He did the repair with no additional charge. This company is great. I've already put them in my calendar for next year's routine maintenance and I would definitely call them if I had any other issue before then.

Now, EVEN IF you pay for their $25/mo (or more) "partner" membership, you have to put up with: a trashy AI answering the call (some clanker that thinks it deserves to have a name like "tucker") they'll fail to show up on your "confirmed" date, saying that some AI canceled it (and when pressed they may reveal the they're actually understaffed), and then they'll fail to show up for multiple attempted reschedulings. This despite the "partner" membership guaranteeing 24 hour response, and a $500 credit on the repair if they miss it. Jury's still out on them honoring that one. when they DO show up for a warranty issue they don't even bother to fight for you when dealing with a manufacturer's warranty, just blindly parroting whatever nonsense the manufacturer support person to them to try to get out of a warranty replacement. And then once it's all said and done, they'll leave you hanging for days with a broken appliance, meaning you have to call them to follow up. Oh, and unrelated to all of that, they quoted us about 80% higher for a replacement central heat pump HVAC system than we ended up paying another company to install, so their pricing is outright predatory. And their sales people who say "please, call or email me with any questions" will get snippy when you try to press them on why they decided on a particular sizing for your home. Seatown is terrible. Avoid them at all costs.

In 2024 they replaced the TXV but never assessed whether the prolonged TXV failure had damaged the compressor -- which is standard practice after such a repair. After the TXV replacement I reported the same symptoms again. Techs came out, found nothing, cleared the system. I was also enrolled in and paying their monthly maintenance program during this entire period. On the third visit they finally diagnosed a failed compressor -- and their own technician's written report states the TXV failure damaged the compressor. The warranty is valid through July 16. Despite this, both the manager and owner denied warranty coverage and are comfortable with me filing complaints -- so that's exactly what I'm doing with Washington State L&I, the Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, the BBB, and Trane corporate directly. If you're a homeowner considering their maintenance program, ask specifically what they document and check on every visit. I paid monthly fees expecting my system to be monitored -- a developing compressor failure went undetected across multiple visits.
