The bill for my transmission explosion

DO NOT BUY YOUR CAR FROM HERE!!! I bought a car from New Era Motors on 8/25/25, and less than a week later on 8/31/25, the entire transmission EXPLODED!!! The cost to fix it costs almost as much as I paid for the car. New Era Motors did NOT offer any sort of financial compensation, repairs, or help whatsoever with my car. My car is not drivable until it gets repaired, and the repairs could take weeks. The mechanic who is working on fixing my car said it was the WORST transmission explosion he has ever seen. This was my first time buying a car and they DID NOT reccomend i get an inspection or anything before i bought the car. (Even though Kellans automated responses say that they offer it) They just wanted to get my money. They even tried to convince me to get a personal loan to buy a different car when I said the bank wouldnt approve buying a car older than 10 years. Then they tried to make me put a $1000 deposit on it even though I couldn't buy the car, and I was not going to take out a personal loan. Please DO NOT buy a car from here and do your research!! Update: 9/26/25 My car is now TOTALED!!! I bought the car for about $9800 the transmission blowing up costed me a little over $8000, the mechanic fixed my car and then found out that the rear differential was messed up and that costed me another $2200 to fix. So the total to repair my car was about $10500 when I purchased the car for less. This is absolutely insane. The mechanic also thinks that the rear differential was already messed up before I bought the car as I only had the car for a week and it was making noises the day I bought it. This dealership absolutely sucks. DO NOT waste your money here. They will be hearing from me soon.

A little review for a local car dealer, New Era Cars. They have great reviews and I think their service has changed not just in my recent purchase but overalla I have been by 3 times in the last year. I thought the lack of care was just bad salespeople with high demand. This is a lack of response from the owner. "I originally bought a Honda Odyssey from Brad as he came highly recommend from three different friends and is close to home. The car did well and as expected for age/price. Most recently, I purchased this car from him 5/29, only driving about 25 miles/five days a week. The light came on 6/20 and I had it towed to the mechanic just for precaution. The problem was a switch that was not regulating the oil through the system. We replaced the switch and the code still goes off. The diagnosis is work around the switch and keep driving in hopes it won't blow or rebuild the engine. No response from New Era Motors. As is sales or not, a $5,300 car purchase for three weeks is not the loyalty customer service I look for. One star here since one car did well, but no effort to do right by their car in this clear an issue is a damaging risk for a solo momma out here. The second purchase is a solid zero-star rating from me."

I informed them my girlfriend was dying of pancreatic cancer and need to get a reliable car and had to move because her house was being sold. Tyler said oh that green Subaru is a nice one. Test drive and he was watching the warning lights and noticed it showed a door was open, so I checked and had to get out and close the hatch, ( which I never opened, thanks Tyler, great help). Never told me the title was being mailed Fed Ex, so it took about 10-12 days to get it , and just intercepted it before it got sent back on the day of. During that time , the engine lights were on,replaced the battery,$200, once it was final able to be registered and driven, an oil change$75, then a diagnostic, tune up, and alignment, $855. Drove it 3 different days for about 10 min each and the temp light came on. Another trip to the garage, head gasket is shot. Drive it more to the garage than anywhere, put less than 50 miles on it. And they won't do anything about it. Spent over $7100 most all of my savings and cannot repair it or buy another car of any kind. Stay away from this dealer. They buy junk cars and slap them together and sell them

We bought a second car a few months ago and so far so good. We've put over 3000 miles on it and she's fine.

The appointment scheduling system is very easy to use, and both times they were on time. When I arrived, I was helped within the estimated time they gave me, and once they even took my car a little earlier than expected. They don't really have a waiting area inside the service department, but they do have a very nice area upstairs in the sales building. You can look at the new cars and also sit and work while you wait, which I have done before. The customer service is good and appropriate, although not necessarily something that stands out as amazing. I did miss having easier access to water, coffee, or a more convenient waiting area with those options available. Still, compared to many other dealerships I've been to in the past, this has been a much better experience. I would recommend them. We were looking for a hybrid car and we came across this place while searching online. We walked in…read moreand there was the biggest selection of well-kept Prius we've ever seen among other various brands. Although we are fans of new technologies we were not particularly Prius lovers nor did we have deep knowledge of how they work; therefore, we were a bit apprehensive about what to expect, how much would the battery last, how much it would be to repair or replace it or other hard to pronounce mechanical components that could go wrong etc...We still wanted a cutting edge technology, gas saver, reliable vehicle to drive long distances and we knew this one had the potential to fulfill all of these. As we were looking around with absolute no "salesman pressure" on the radar we narrowed down two or three models we were interested in knowing more about so we walked into the office and met the owners. David and Melina were the kindest, honest and dependable people we've ever met at a car dealership, they allowed us to test drive all the cars we wanted and answered all the questions we had; that's right, they answered and didn't ask us about anything; well, I just turned 50 and I've always had to do my own brainwash before walking into a car dealership to make sure they don't convince me about buying something I really don't know if I want or I'm not ready for; to my happiest surprise, this was very relaxing and refreshing! I've never experienced something like this. On the technical side, I am not a mechanic by any means but I like to tinker with cars and I've repaired some simple parts on some other vehicles we've had; given this background, I was very pleased to see that the owners actually knew about these hybrid vehicles very well, not only that, they also offer very convenient services for refurbishing or replacing the batteries and other preventive maintenance and they are very open about what any particular car requires in order to keep them in good conditions. So, in other words, this is a place where the owners like and know what they sell, believe in a pressure free are very proud of their service and are prepared to provide some basic maintenance and repairs for a very reasonable price. My girlfriend and I are very happy to have found this place and we strongly recommend it. We bought a 2009 Prius on November 2015, it's running very well so far and if it ever needs anything fixed or maintained, we will go straight to this place.

Warning: CPO Warranty Comes With a Hidden $200+ Diagnostic Fee…read more Before buying a certified pre-owned vehicle at North Point Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, understand how their warranty process actually works: if you bring a vehicle in for a potential warranty issue, they charge a $200+ diagnostic fee just to determine whether the repair is covered. That means you pay out of pocket before you know if you're entitled to anything at all. If the issue turns out not to be covered, you're out $200. If it is covered, you've still paid for the privilege of proving it. This structure effectively discourages warranty claims. A CPO warranty is supposed to provide peace of mind -- instead, this fee creates a financial barrier that protects the dealer, not the buyer. I'd encourage anyone considering a CPO purchase here to ask directly, in writing, before signing: "What fees will I be charged to have a warranty claim evaluated?" Get the answer documented. A warranty you're financially deterred from using isn't a warranty -- it's a selling point with fine print.
