Fried cod dinner, dumplings, mashed potatoes
    Madeline V.

If you're looking for a place that tastes and feels like sitting down for a meal with your family, that is brought out to you as it's ready from the kitchen, New Era has an old world charm of somewhere that has been around for years that is not found in the modern restaurant scene. If you're expecting fancy service and elegant dishes, this place is not for you. It is a no nonsense, just like your grandma made it, comfort style place. Would recommend the fried cod dinner, and the cabbage roll dinner. The dumplings had a surprising kick of paprika and the cabbage rolls had a great flavor. Minus one star only because we felt like there could be some updates to the website, menus (descriptions and photos), and more of an an online presence would really help :)

Looking for home and comforting food? This is a great place! Don't be mislead by its exterior or neighborhood. The restaurant was casual but welcoming. Every day, on the menu, they had every day specials, breakfast food and home food. I ordered stuffed peppers and it was delicious! The peppers tasted as my mom's. I was highly surprised by quality and taste. Highly suggesting and def will visit again!

Chicken Paprikas was tasty although the chicken was very dry. Mash potatoes came out cool to warm.

    New Era. Right off I-76.

Such an amazing place!!! The food was cooked perfectly and such a unique menu. The table got fried chicken, stuffed chicken breast with gravy and stuffing and grilled pork chops. And the best spicy dumplings I ever had!!! It tastes homemade like your grandma made it. And there actually is a little old lady named Lu back making food and desserts. I loved this place and will be back for sure!!! Huge party room you can rent out and a huge bakery and dessert menu. And being the kids great kids menu.

Thursday is pork and kraut day. It's very good. The chicken paprikas is also one of my favorites.

The food taste like it's either from a can or freezer and I'm also pretty sure the bartender had never made a martini before.

The inside is very pleasant, I'm sure my poor phone photos will not do it justice. Our server was…read morevery kind and helpful, if a bit slow at checking up on us, but it wasn't an issue. The food. The food is very good. We tried three different wing flavors. The house made buffalo, the Thai chili, and the citrus jerk wings. They fell off the bone and were delicious. I would have to say the best wings I've had, these really did stand out, and would say they are worth trying. They are a bit pricier than other places wings, but the flavor is there. What we really came here for was the burger, we've been trying every place that the Akron Beacon Journal did a tournament for to determine our own favorite, without nostalgia influencing our decisions. The burger was fantastic. The meat is seasoned well and the bread was soft and fluffy. The sauce tasted homemade and unique, but didn't take away from the burger. The pickles on it as well are homemade or made from a company nearby, but they're also very good and different than any you get at the store. I will definitely be back. This was very good on a day where we stopped at 3 places and this happened to be the last.

Listen, the chairs and tables alone warrant the lowest possible review…read more I was genuinely pissed off when I saw tiny, weak ass chairs barely able to hold a fully grown adult ass. The size of the tables is fucking offensive. How the hell are you gonna bring me big ass bowls of wings and cram them onto a table better suited for a dollhouse!? If you want to be comfortable while you eat, avoid this place. Someone, PLEASE tell me why I can get legit ass tableware and glassware but they bring the most impotent, minuscule, microplastic laden, to go ramekins for the blue cheese or ranch! REAL ASS RAMEKINS EXIST! Someone give them some, because that plastic shit is disgusting and stupid. The food? Also terrible. Onion dip - bland Apricot bbq sauce - tastes like fermented gym socks Jerk - NOT A DRY FUCKING RUB! The heat so overpowered the entire sauce that the remaining herb flavors were obliterated. Whomever thought to call this "jerk" should be taken to the birthplace of jerk seasoning and be publicly humiliated. The ONLY decent sauce they have is Buffalo. They should take the rest of their menu back to the fucking drawing board. The service was just barely competent. I get so damn tired of pretentious motherfucking restaurants more interested in a cute logo than providing great food, great service, and comfortable seating. Oh, and fuck accessibility. NOTHING about this place is accessible. Two stars so this review isn't buried, but the place should be fire bombed.

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday. Partner ordered wings…read moreand I opted for the chicken sandwich. Both were very tasty. The huge portion of fries was too much (but delicious nonetheless!) It's worth noting that they share a space with Magic City Brewing and when walking in, it wasn't immediately clear what we were supposed to do. The only bartender on staff wasn't particularly talkative/welcoming in the sense of explaining what was going on or how things worked ...and the Cult Kitchen staff are behind a window past the bar. (I dont necessarily blame CK for the MCB bartender, but they're choosing to share that space and it's part of the experience so it seems like it's relevant.) We sat down at a booth and realized was a small table sign with a QR code for the food and drink menu. Below the codes is a small line of text that explains to go to the Cult Kitchen window for food and go to the bar for drinks. This isn't necessarily a bad setup, just had to adjust our mindset as it's more casual and in line with a food truck experience. ...like going up to the window more ketchup (it's in little lidded containers) for all those fries ...and cleaning up after yourself, as there is no one busing tables. Again, the food was very good but the overall experience was just lacking. It seems like it could be something really special if the hospitality and service was there!

In Akron for business and used Yelp to help find a place for a meal while in town…read more Be aware you will work a little upon arrival though at check out your are still offered the option to tip. Despite the positioning on their website it's not a traditional sit down place. It's an order window and then they bring food to the table. They share space with the Brewing company so a bottle of soda is what you get from the order window but anything else you go over to order at the bar separately. Two of us went for an early dinner. We opted for pretzel app which were tasty and a very big portion resulting in us not finishing them. I would say that app could easily serve 4. Slider special was tasty but considering the heavy portion of fries not everything on my plate was finished and neither was my coworkers meal. Eyes were bigger than our stomach. Place has about 10 (?) tables/booths and then folks sitting around the bar at the brewery side. I imagine on a popular day of the week (we went mid week before the dinner time rush) it could get crowded and loud. Feel of the place is grunge/biker though clean and well kept and without feeling 'theme restaurant'. I would say it has its only unique personality. Had we been more prepared from the restaurant's website for what the place was we might have more enjoyed things. It's just feels more 'out drinking and getting the nibbles' than a destination meal.
