This was my first time trying this place, as it is right next to my job, and i must say i was impressed! I ordered pork fried rice and chicken wings combo, and the pork fried rice was not bad but not the best. However the chicken wings were really good and tasted fresh! Possibly one of the best wings I've had from a Chinese food place. The place is small but very clean, the lady greeted me with the smile the moment I walked in and was very friendly! Food came out in a timely manner and they have tons of menu options! Would I eat here again? I sure would! read more

Consistently fresh reasonably priced take out yummy Chinese food with fast delivery. Their Mongolian Beef, Seseme Chicken or beef, egg rolls fried rice, ribs, shrimp and lobster sauce, chicken with eggplant actually everything we have ordered are all terrific as is their low mein, chow fun wonton soup hot and sour soup and dumplings which are all delicious. Very good Chinese takeout. I don't know how they make this white rice but it's by far the best rice out of any Chinese place I've ever had. Anything made with garlic sauce is good too. Service is fast and friendly. read more

Very Good Chinese food. I've sampled most of the local Chinese food restaurants in the area and I keep coming back here. It tastes fresh and "clean" meaning not greasy. The staff is very friendly and I like the food very much. The eggrolls are nice and crispy without being greasy. The chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce? Delightful. Boneless spare ribs are also very good as well as the General Tso Chicken. My only complaint is the pork fried rice. It was sad and dry and flavorless with minimal vegetables in it. The random pieces of pork actually in it were old and gray. I wish I skipped it and saved the $ as it went straight in the trash. I was surprised about that. Perhaps it was an off day for the rice? I know this review is a bit contradictory but hey, you live and you learn and you like certain things from certain places!! read more

This is the best Chinese takeout I've had in this area! Less greasy and more flavorful than others with good vegetables! Had wonton soup, dumplings, chicken and eggplant, and mixed Chinese vegetables. Really impressed by the freshness and quality of the food. Delivery was quick and food was hot. New Fong is my current go-to for Chinese takeout in town. It's solid but nothing fancy, perfect for those days when you just want some wonton soup or an egg roll. The egg rolls and spring rolls are actually really good, though. Never greasy. New Fong knows their way around the deep fryer! I've had several good entrees including Mongolian beef, sesame shrimp, beef in oyster sauce and Hunan pork. The only entree I was unimpressed with was the shrimp with lobster sauce -- the sauce was just way too watery for me. Don't skip the young chow fried rice -- it's very tasty without being overly salty. read more

Ordered here a few times... Let's just say it's different. Not in a good way. Not in a bad way. Different. Their Chinese food is typical... nothing special. People rave about how good it is, but no different from King Wok. Stay away from their so called Thai food. It's bland. I ordered it with beef but had a slight fishy smell to it. Tried to cover it up by drowning it with a lemon but still came through. It should've been a lime, not lemon. No cilantro. Over did it with the fish sauce.. but ultimately, no flavor. Defeating the purpose of ordering out, i re-fired this thing with more soy suace, brown sugar, cilantro, and lime and made a world of difference. Doubt they read their reviews, but if they do, either carry the proper ingredients, taste what you cook, or take it off the menu. For now, you lost me as a customer. read more

First time I've tried this place and truly impressed. Ordered wonton soup, boneless spareribs and sesame chicken. What generous portions they give and the prices are very reasonable. Wow, first time ordering from New Fong and was totally impressed. I must have driven past this places thousands of times, and never went in. I ordered the Hot & Spicy chicken, wonton soup and pork fried rice. The fried rice was great. Not that orange stuff some places try to pass off as fried. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and flavor of their food . I ordered fried dumplings which, from most Chinese takeout restaurants I frequent, are doughy and pasty. New Fong's were delicate and light and very flavorful. The spring rolls were large and crunchy without a hint of grease. Lastly, the main course of shrimp and eggplant in garlic sauce was delicious. Great garlic flavor and the shrimp was cooked through but in no way over cooked. In short, I highly recommend New Fongs read more

Very good take out Chinese food. I order the Sesame Chicken lunch and I ask them to make it very spicy. They add red peppers and diced jalapeño peppers to make it spicy, and it is fire! Crab Rangoon are pretty good, the fried chicken was good, and the boneless ribs were also good. I recommend New Fong for a quick and inexpensive lunch. I'm sure they're just as good for dinner, but I have not tried them for dinner yet. read more

Based on the positive reviews...I decide to order from them tonite. Used coupon from menu. Prices very good. Food decent but not spectacular. Pork dumplings and boneless roast pork were quite good. Hot and sour was ok. Beef with broccoli we did not like at all. Crispy thai beef was interesting. Egg roll kind of subpar. The search for excellent Chinese continues...I miss old Hoo King and Wok and Roll. May have to expand perimeter further. For now I will have to settle Chaba Thai again. read more

Excellent take out Chinese food. Had recently tried this place on a whim being that the local spots in Long Beach are all pretty whack as of lately and there's only two spots in IP, new fong was really good had a few different dishes that actually tasted different and not just the usual one note brown sauce, lots of fresh Chinese style veggies and good tender meat. Great fried rice too. Worth a shot if your looking for an above average take out spot. read more

Yum! I recently moved back to Oceanside and discovered Asian Xpress a few weeks ago...and then it "closed", but just on Yelp. It's now renamed New Fong (they sent us a new menu with our last order) and i have no complaints other than the shrimp rolls tasting like they are made with old oil at times (more soggy than crispy). I've ordered about 5 different entrees and they have all been fairly good. Three notes that make this restaurant more desirable than other chinese takeout in the area: 1) they do not used canned veggies and you can tell that their veggies are fresh (goodbye baby corn and water chestnuts), they offer many dishes with chicken AND shrimp so you never have to choose, 3) they are generous with their offering and the meals are balanced in meat and veggies. They are also really good with taking special requests online and will call you if they have a question. Quick delivery, great service, excellent food - Highly recommended. read more
