The food doesn't taste good! The meat for sesame chicken isn't that one and the rice has no flavor and tasted burnt. The crab Rangoon was wired looking and it had the filling coming out on top. It was all dry and bad flavor. read more

I've been going to Chung Shing Kitchen for years now. I've never been disappointed or had a bad experience and have to say they are always a solid, dependable choice for tasty Chinese food. They're a little hidden off a Merrick road in Baldwin, which them somewhat of a hidden gem. The restaurant is clean and the service is always quick and friendly. They always use fresh ingredients and their portions are very generous. They definitely don't cheap out and you always have plenty of meat or seafood in every dish you order. Unlike most places when you order Sesame Chicken, Chung Shing Kitchen gives you Sesame Chicken not a bunch of vegetables mixed in with a little Chicken. Even when it comes to their Beef and Broccoli you still get mostly beef. Their dishes are also seasoned very well and always flavorful. I really like their sesame Chicken, its crispy with just the right amount of sauce. Also really their House Special Chow Fun and like I said before they don't cheap out on the meat. They have pretty good dumplings, a little doughy, although not overly doughy and still delicious. They have awesome wings and the best Crab Ragoon I've ever had. They have great fried rice and lo mein. You can't go wrong as everything I've had has always been really delicious and I've never been disappointed. Read the reviews and decided to give it a shot. Placed an order for 5 5 lunch specials, was happy with all, but the pepper steak had only 4 pieces of meat, all peppers and onions. Did love the surprise box of chicken balls. Ordered again 2 lunch specials, but subbed out the rice for lo mein. I knew there is an up charge when doing that, but $3.50 each lunch. On an item that $5.95, that's super ridiculous. I should have just ordered a pint of lo mein!! Almost $21 for 2 lunch special?? There's nothing special about that!! read more

We order from Chung Shing quite often. Our favorites include the sesame chicken, egg rolls, spring rolls, lo mein and crab Rangoon. The people who work there are very friendly. Reasonably priced. Atmosphere is certainly nothing fancy, as they are mainly a take out place. read more

I've gone to Chung Shing many times over the years, and I don't think I've ever been disappointed with the food. I usually get the sesame chicken lunch combination and specify that I don't want the chicken to be crispy. They're always very accommodating, and they prepare it just the way I like. A previous reviewer on here posted a picture of the chicken balls, and I have to second their greatness. I actually forgot they existed when I went there the last few times, but they're definitely worth trying out at least once. There was a change in personnel in the past year or two. I'm not sure if the ownership changed or what, but it took a bit of getting used to since I knew the lady who used to run it. The new folks seem nice though, and I've never had any issues as far as that goes. The prices are very reasonable, especially if you take advantage of their lunch specials. The average cost of a lunch is probably around $6.00 or so. I believe they require a $10.00 minimum to use a credit card. I paid for my lunch with quarters one time since I didn't meet the minimum requirement, but I knew that would be the case before I went in. Overall, this is a great place to get your Chinese food fix. I always order for take-out, so unfortunately I can't comment on the delivery service. The interior features your average, not-so-special Chinese food setting (including several tables for eating in), but the food is top-notch. read more

This place's food is always solid. I've lived around the block from it for ages and whenever our family doesn't know what to eat, we always order from here. The food is always well prepared and when you order a certain amount, they give you something for free. I believe it is family run, and they've seen us order from them for so long that they always wish us well. Definitely recommend. Reliable. read more

Ordered from this restaurant for the past 15 years. I no longer order food from here and I make sure no one I know wastes their time either. Ever since the owners supposedly left to china and their "nephew" runs the restaurant, it has gone down. First of all the food doesn't taste the same as it used to and the customer service is soo poor. The nephew answers the phone most times and stands in the front as well placing the order with an attitude on his face at all times. He doesn't care that your a 15+ year customer or that you place orders multiple times during the week. The last time I called I ordered fried rice. He asked me what type of fried rice do you want? I said what types do you have? He stated we have vegetable, pork, shrimp, etc. I said Oh I just want plain fried rice. He said no we dont just have plain fried rice, you take pork fried rice. I said that's not what I want, I am asking for just plain fried rice. He states pork fried rice yes or no. I said no and he hung up. So So nasty. There have been two other instances where he has been so nasty and this was the last straw. I just dont understand how a business can treat customers like this. I have found a new Chinese place right in Oceanside in which the food tastes so much better. Please do yourself a favor, don't settle for a place with bad customer service, because if they can treat you like that just imagine the food your eating that seemingly tastes so good but you don't know how it's prepared. Or if an issue arises from something you ate, who is held accountable? The same person that forces you to pick pork fried rice and then hangs up on you? Your health is way too important. read more
