Before deciding to go here, I'd like you to think about one word: RULES…read more This splash park has a LOT of them, and I do mean a LOT. You can't exit, even if you forgot something at your car. You can't bring in water bottles with water in them. No jewelry or even an Apple Watch on the slides. I forgot my phone in the car, and was only allowed to get it when the manager escorted me. The workers were nice enough about enforcement, but it all got a little tiring after awhile. This is a municipal park, not DisneyWorld. Chill. As for the park itself, it's fine. A big (not particularly deep) pool, surrounded by 3 slides (one for tykes, another for under 7, and the grandaddy of them all, which is towering). There was plenty of space for sitting and umbrellas. The bathrooms are clean, the pool and slides are well maintained and there are lifeguards everywhere. The water is ice cold, and there are vending machines. Outside food is allowed (maybe this is just due to covid, there was a grille but it was closed), but don't get cute trying to sneak in liquor because they do search your bags thoroughly. I get the sense the city really cares about this facility and treats it accordingly. But check beforehand. Weekends are for city residents ONLY. Nobody from outside MoCo is allowed in, and they will check your ID to confirm. For some reason, I was only charged $6 (the city rate) instead of $11 (I like in Silver Spring) so that admittedly influenced my rating. I might have been a but harsher (because rules) had I paid full cost. My kids (ages 9 and 12) got a bit bored after awhile, but for the price, this isn't a bad way to blow an afternoon.

The county surely can do better than this, you can't bring bottled water into the park, and this is what you get in return

The most convenient one for me is off Needwood Rd or you can enter from Avery Rd.

First, if you need an address to find this park, you can use either 15700 Needwood Lake Circle,…read moreRockville, MD or 15700 Needwood Lake Circle, Derwood, MD. This park has two entrances - one on Avery Road and the other on Needwood Road. The one on Avery Road is closer to Go Ape Adventures which is located within the park (at a cost). As you enter this part of the park, and go down a hill, the road will eventually end at a stop sign. It is here you will see a sign that says, "Rock Creek Regional Park, Lake Needwood". You then have to decide if you want to go right or go left. If you turn right, you will come across the Golf Course, Picnic Area, and Archery. If you turn left, you will come across the Boat Shop, Picnic Areas, and Hiker/Biker Trails. Going Right at the "Rock Creek Regional Park, Lake Needwood" sign If you turn right, you will go over a few speed bumps. After you pass this area (and you will see Go Ape to your right), you will also see part of the lake to your left and a little crossing bridge (not for cars). On this side, I have seen people have picnics, go fishing, and hiking as well. If you continue on the road, you will come across a playground to your left and a parking lot - I guess there are more trails back there (I have not gone in the area beyond the playground). To the right of that lot is a place for archery. If you continue on this road, you will exit the park onto Needwood Road. Going Left at the "Rock Creek Regional Park, Lake Needwood" sign If you turn left, you will see a parking lot on your immediate right. Next to this lot, is a volleyball court - I have seen folks play volleyball here. If you continue through a walking path in the trees, you will come across some covered picnic tables and more trails taking you closer to the lake. As you get back in your vehicle, past this parking lot and follow the road, it will steer you to the right and you go down towards the lake. In this area of the road, I have seen people park on the road whenever the park gets crowded (there are marked spaces). As you continue down, you will see a much smaller parking area which is next to the boat house. You can walk through the boat house to another part of the lake, but as far as renting boats, that is only available during the summer months. Most times, this lot is filled, but not to worry, because if you continue traveling just a few feet more, you will come across an even bigger parking lot. It is in this bigger lot, you will come across a map layout of the whole park - more of Lake Needwood. There are also a few porta-potties. Within the area is a huge grassy field that is perfect to just lay a blanket and chill, but you may have to complete with geese in the area. There are 2 trails on this side by the map - if you go to the left, the trail is on a very flat surface - be careful when walking as you will end up crossing a few roads like Southlawn Lane and Avery Road, to name a few. By that same map, if you take the trail to the right, you will go up a hill, cross over the lake and continue on even more trails in this park. I like coming to Lake Needwood. I have done walks here on a few of the different trails and have even gone off the beaten path. Had lunch on a picnic table or two and even did pedal boating, however you won't ever find me in a kayak. Overall, it is nice to come here to just chill and enjoy nature. "Dearest Savitri, After battling scar tissue and adhesions for over 10 years, and trying almost everything to improve my health, I wound up in the emergency room with yet another small intestine obstruction. Having yet another surgery would have just compounded the problem. Savitri of the New Future Society Center in Rockville, Md came to the hospital in Olney to do a healing energy session on the blockage in my small intestine. During our session we both heard and felt my body heal. I called in the nurse and she listened with a stethoscope and confirmed the healthy bowel sounds and my surgeon released me the next day. From the very first meditation I attended with Savitri at the New Future Society, I was aware of the divine power and loving radiance that she embodies. I am so grateful to attend the weekly and monthly events, and have found that in just two months time there is a peace and contentment that I have cultivated within that is profound and immeasurable. These changes are felt physically as well as psychologically for me. She has helped me let go of much which has allowed me to heal from many hardships. I have found the Monday night meditations to be extremely deep, and hence very rewarding. I usually feel quite expanded in consciousness afterwards. Typically a small group - about 6-8 people, younger and older, attend. meeting is over by 8:45pm Meditation time is about one hour long and goes by pretty fast. The leader, Savitri Bach, is a really sweet person. She also offers yoga classes, personal sessions, and occasional 1/2 day "conferences' at her house in Rocville/Aspen Hill area. New Future Society with director Savitri Bach is a unique and special school of yoga and yogic philosophy. The yoga classes incorporate a variety of styles of asanas and a short meditation. I always finish a yoga class feeling rejuvinated in body, mind and spirit. I also love every one of the meditations and conferences. Savitri's house is no regular home. It is an ashram that radiates warmth and love. From the first time I entered her center I felt so welcome. The parking lot is small, but absolutely adequate for the businesses. In order to find the studio, you will walk in the back door, take two-half flights of stairs up, walk down a hallway and across the house to find the stairs to the third floor. Up one more flight of stairs and not only are you warmed up, but you've found the studio! All kidding aside, it's really not difficult to find, as there is plenty of signage. The studio itself has hardwood-looking laminate flooring and a big window on each wall. There are candles strategically placed around giving the studio a really cozy, relaxing vibe. They also provide mats, blocks, and straps, or you can bring your own. I purchased a 20-pack of classes and so far I've gone to two: Power Hour and Vinyasa Flow I/II. There isn't a ton of room upstairs, but in both classes, we were below max capacity. There were 4 of us in one class and 5 in the other. I really, really enjoy this about it. Both Ariana and Kathy were super friendly, chill, and willing to not just help you perfect your poses, but teach you the correct ways to push yourself and go deeper into postures. At the beginning of their respective classes, they both asked if anyone had injuries, so they could help with modifications, or if there were any special requests. It's almost like you're getting a private lesson. Holla! Clarksburg Yoga & Wellness uses MindBody (https://clients.mindbodyonline.com/classic/home?studioid=255113) for scheduling, which works well. I suggest registering and signing up for classes before you go. This saves your spot in class and keeps track of classes you have attended and want to attend. They remember you by name and work extremely hard to make sure each yogi feels welcomed and supported. The class offerings are perfect timing for working professionals and the location is convenient and extremely clean. I honestly wasn't sure how I'd feel about sweating in 105 degrees for an hour, but it has been a transformative and life changing experience. I feel more confident, peaceful, and overall my mood is much more even. I find myself going as much as possible and relishing in the heated classroom. I have never walked away from classes feeling so rejuvenated after working so hard and each little improvement to my postures makes me feel over the moon. I want to sincerely thank Bikram Yoga Rockville for inviting me into the community and becoming a truly integral part of my well-being. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and 12/10 HIGHLY RECOMMEND P.S. Bikram Yoga offerings are tried and true but David's Core class on Sundays is SO good, abs never felt so strong! Natalya teaches a slow flow yoga that makes you feel all tingly inside and Diana never ceases to make you both laugh and smile inside (maybe cry a few good tears too). They also offer amazing pop-up classes (see pic of me in Yin Yoga, literally in sheer bliss!) Each teacher is unique but their dedication and care shines through! Just drop-in or do a new yogi special for two weeks! You WILL NOT REGRET IT.

The awesome facilities, the comraderie, and the variety of classes and teachers keep me coming back year after year! The teachers get to know you and genuinely care about your success and health. They keep things fresh with fun themes, music, and pop-up events and workshops, but they also offer traditional posture classes throughout the week if that's your vibe too. Or, you can do them ALL. (all is good!) My best physical self and mental health always includes frequent classes at Bikram Yoga Rockville. I come here right after work as I head north on 270--you can see it from traffic! So why not pop in and pass rush hour in zen instead?

One thing I have learned after joining the class is you don't need to be super flexible to join yoga class. Meditation really helped me a lot with managing my stress anxiety. Highly recommendable.. :)
