I didn't expect 5 star authentic Chinese food stopping in Waverly, but I expected a bit better than this. Around 6 PM on a Sunday, the restaurant was not very busy, but the food did not pretend to be fresh. In other words, it looked old and dried out, and they did not bother filling most of the food trays to make it appear less like it had been sitting out all day. Service was very detached and cold. The food was low level buffet American Chinese food. I love buffets, but I couldn't stuff myself here with the quality of the food. My Taiwanese partner found the food "sad." I personally would not ever come back here, but I'm glad to see Waverly has a popular Asian business. read more

After reading reviews about this place and seeing that it had gotten good ratings I decided to give it a try. I ordered the general Tso's chicken because it's very difficult to mess that up. However, they did a pretty good job of doing just that. It was over cooked, the sauce was very thin, the pieces were very small and the fryer oil was old. Visited at about 11:30 on a Sunday for their lunch buffet. I was visiting OH from out of state in IN. Pros-- *price was not bad as listed $7.50 *this was the first time I've had Cajun chicken. (If you come here, try that.) *owner seemed to converse well with regular customers who were working outside that day. That was very nice! (Add 1 Star to 3 stars) Cons-- *staff were eating in restaurant when I arrived *sweet/sour chicken was lukewarm *sweet/sour sauce was way too sugary for me. *lo mein was lukewarm *cream puffs and brownies were in a box All in all, I'd try this place again for a dinner, but not for their buffets. China One is probably the ONLY thing I miss about living in Pike County. This is the place that started my love of Chinese food. The food is amazing for the price. They have the absolute best peanut butter chicken I've ever eaten and I have yet to find another restaurant with chicken that even comes close. Same goes for the cheese wontons and fried zucchini. China One's food sets the bar for all other Chinese places I go to. The owner is a super nice lady and she always remembers me and chats with me even though I hardly ever make it in there now. Well for starters the food isn't the worst I've had but not the best either. My biggest problem with this place is that the owners/employees literally sit right out with the customers and eat which that's not the part that bothers me it's the fact the woman literally yells at the guys nonstop while your trying to have a nice lunch or evening dinner & one of the guys sits there the whole time eating and just sounds like a damn horse or cow chomping. I feel like they should leave their arguing in the back and have a little more curtsey for their customers. We eat here several times a month. This is our go to spot for Chinese food. The egg rolls are the best! Sweet and sour pork is perfect as well. If you see in the neighborhood, stop in and grab some food. Right now, they are only doing carry out due to COVID. The family and I love this place! read more

This restaurant doesn't even deserve to receive a single star. The good was horrible and cold. Service was just as bad. The employees (owners) were rude arguing amongst each other. This is undoubtedly the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Upon entering they charged 8.75 a person. I then proceeded to try the wonton soup. It tasted like the wontons had been frozen, cooked then frozen again. Everything sat under heat lamps, and I only took a couple bites of each thing I tried. The food made me queasy, as well as the 5 other people that went to the restaurant with me. We all agreed it was the worst Chinese food we ever had, and this is after leaving rural VA and driving through Ohio. When we argued about our $45 bill, the owner told my sister they'd been open 10 years. They then told my mom who went back in to complain that they'd been open 19. She yelled at my mother as well in an extremely rude manner. In my opinion, you should avoid this place at all costs. read more

The food was pretty bad. The lady glared at us while we ate. There was no music playing while we ate and the only thing we could hear was the woman talking on her Bluetooth which was on speaker while she was eating and bringing our drinks! I didn't even know Bluetooth had speaker. All in all I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. read more

Nasty, Nasty, Nasty.... This has got to be the worst Chinese restaurant in the entire country. I have been to a lot of them. I gave it one star only because they somehow manage to stay open. This restaurant is amazing! The lady and gentleman running it knows us and are always smiling. The food is really good, my husband is fond of the frog legs and I like the spicy chicken and mushrooms. I have never written a review before, but I've eaten at a lot of Chinese places across the USA. I just happened to pick this one because I'm tired of the fast food in Waverly and figured I'd give it a try. Simply put...best "cheap" Chinese I've eaten anywhere except in Singapore. I walked in at 2:15 on a Saturday and expected to find half filled buffet pans, hour old food, partial selection, etc. Instead I found everything fresh and of very good quality. The warming pan have plastic covers to keep everything "fresh" and the taste was excellent. The price...$7.65 plus tip. Now, this is your basic chinese food...only one small pan of sushi and no Mongolian grill...but for the price and quality in a small town Chinese place it was outstanding. If you like ambiance, go someplace else...but for a good meal, give it a try. Hopefully they'll keep up this level of quality so when I'm back at Bristol Village I can try it again. read more

Customer service issues ! Food is good but service is lacking ! Took our nephew, who was 6, to eat inside. He got the buffet, one small plate, he barely ate anything because his stomach started hurting. We asked if we could have a small box to put only the food on his plate in and she said ok. Then she looked at my nephew and told him he can't get any ice cream. I mean come on! To look at a child and tell them he can't get a cone!?!? We already paid for the buffet so they weren't out any money! Trust me she also kept a very close eye on us to make sure we didn't try to put food in his box. It was so uncomfortable I didn't get anymore plates and wanted to leave. I refuse to eat there anymore, but my husband does occasionally. Last time he ate there the woman (same woman) told him he had to check his food in front of her before he left because his mom calls and complains about her food. He told her he doesn't live with his mother and he has never complained about his food one time. He was shocked! His mother has called twice and both times her order was wrong. My husband was targeted because they know who he's related to. It makes me so uncomfortable that I don't want him to eat there in fear they will do something to his food. They need an attitude check before they run all their business off. They act like people are out to get them! read more
