I originally had a pretty disappointing experience with New Happy Day Spa after booking a surprise birthday massage for my husband. Due to scheduled building repairs, our appointment was going to be canceled, and unfortunately, the surprise was spoiled when they called while my husband was standing right next to me. However, I believe in giving credit where credit is due! They went out of their way to make things right and were able to accommodate us on my husband's actual birthday. They even gave him a complimentary massage to make up for the inconvenience! Most importantly, my husband had a wonderful time, and we were still able to enjoy the birthday experience I had planned for him. While the initial situation was frustrating, I genuinely appreciate a business that takes accountability and makes an effort to turn a negative experience into a positive one. I was really excited about this place and they're not bad per se but there were some issues that won't make me return. Reserved a 90 min combination $110 massage. Took the day off specifically for this and have been excited. They gave me the wrong massage, just a general massage and foot massage. I ordered the one that included a facial, body scrub, belly wrap. I'm not the most experienced with massages so I didn't realize the time when she said we were done and I realized a different massage had been done. They cover your eyes with a towel so I had no idea what time it was. I also ordered this massage because it was on sale if you went before 1pm mon- Friday a 90 minute massage was supposed to be $85. I asked them about the discount and the woman up front had no idea what I was talking about. I tried to pull it up on the website but because it's like a little message that only opens when you first visit the site, I couldn't get it to appear. I managed to pull it up when I got home though so it's still active on their website. So I didn't get a discount and didn't get the right massage. I even brought cash because of the discount I was hoping to get. I am glad they didn't charge me the full price of the massage I didn't get, but some sort of miscommunication must have happened between their online booking system and whomever informed the massage person what to do. Lastly, they keep the door cracked open during the massage so you can hear everyone coming in and out. Just was personally distracting especially cause you're only lightly covered by a towel. Overall, I don't have any issues with the employees, their behavior or skill. But the miscommunication of what massage plus the needing to prove a discount that's on their website put a slight sourness on the experience. If I could give zero stars, I would. I was gifted a massage with Tony at New Happy Day Spa after hearing great things from friends. I went in looking for something calming and relaxing, and I told him that upfront. He said he understood. But instead of a soothing massage, it started off with full on "Hulk Smash"... literally. Tony actually banged and smashed on my back the moment the massage began. It felt like he thought he was Tony Stark and had let the Hulk take over the massage table. It was all brute force, intense, and completely opposite of what I expected or asked for. I had to end the massage early out of fear he might injure my back. This was by far the worst massage I have ever had in my life. To make matters worse, New Happy Day Spa never offered any apology or accountability for the experience. Highly recommend their massages. I've been here before and they never disappoint. I usually have lower back issues and I just let them know ahead of time that this is my target area and they definitely take care of me. Very attentive on checking on the pressure and making sure I'm okay. No matter who I get they always have those magic hands. Very punctual and kind. Great customer service and the atmosphere is very relaxing and smells so good in here. I love the hot towels they put on me after the massage. I recommend coming here. The massage I received here on Mother's Day was a bad experience. I was massage by female and she was so rough with me, didn't ask me where I had knots at or if the pressure was to hard. She just kept rubbing deep into my skin. To the point where I kept saying ouch all the time. And now I'm sore from her being so rough on my back. I will definitely will not be returning. We called around to several locations for a last minute massage on a Saturday afternoon. I gave New Happy Day Spa a call. They didn't answer, but within seconds returned my call. They had availability about 2 hours later. The entry was nice and simple. The staff at the desk was very sweet and let us know our therapists would be out shortly. I got Jason and my husband requested back walking and got CiCi. The rooms were cozy with soft background music. I was very impressed with the massage. The masseuses were repetitive, and although the massage was marketed as 60 mins, they account for the changing time and setting up and you only really get ~40 mins out of the experience. My boyfriend and I came out disappointed with the lack of effort put into both our massages. side note: You need to tip at least 10 dollars. So even if your experience is boo boo, you still gotta show gratitude w/ minimum of 10 dollars. Don't get seduced by the price, I'd spend more money for a more fulfilled time. read more

I came here after receiving a Groupon for a 60-minute salt massage. Upon arrival, the receptionist was friendly, but there was a lack of introduction or consent process. Unlike the woman in front of me, we weren't asked about our preferred pressure level; instead, we were directed straight to the room. Once in the room, the massage started promptly. My masseuse, a woman, maintained decent pressure, but unfortunately, my husband's masseuse, a man, continued with uncomfortable pressure despite his feedback. There were many times I heard "ouch" from him even with feedback to the masseuse. Upon completion, during checkout, there was pressure to provide a $10 tip. Despite the expectation, we chose not to tip that much due to our experience. The disapproving stares we received made us reconsider returning. So much to improve here. Got there at 10:15 and asked for the 60 minute Holiday Special Massage for $50 offered on their webpage. I was told they don't have that. I mentioned to them that they literally have signs posted in their windows advertising it. Then the woman tells me we don't offer it on Mondays. I pointed out the flyer as well as the web page says offered M-F before 1:00pm. I am finally in the room and the massage therapist says she will give me hot rocks. I said I prefer the salt scrub. This is one of the options listed on the flyer. She told me no, too messy! At the end she, asked me for a tip. If I had not been feeling stressed when I went in I was when I left. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Isabella, whom was very sweet. The waiting room was clean and quiet. Shortly after arriving I was introduced to Amy. Amy was soft spoken, direct, and kind. The room was clean, dimmed, and smelled pleasant. I mention the smell because I've been to a place before that had an unpleasant stench and I had to cancel my service! The massage was very relaxing. I have been getting back into my regular gym sessions and the need for a physical body tune up has been long overdue. Amy had firm pressure and she checked in often with her pressure. Her soft voice was unstartling and kept me in my Zen. I found this location while looking through ads on Groupon. I saw they had a great deal for a full body massage and salt scrub. I honestly don't remember the scrub or if she applied that service but I didn't mind. A hot towel was applied towards the end of the service which was nice. After the massage I made my way back to the waiting room and I was greeted by Amy who had a bottled water waiting for me. I gifted her a tip for her services and spoke to Isabella regarding future appointments and preferable parking. Unfortunately, the parking situation can be an issue during busy days or times. With the other businesses located close by it seems like HDS's dedicated parking area gets taken up by others. I was able to find a parking space just a block away. Last night, my husband and I went in for a 9 pm massage appointment gifted with two Groupons. Linda was the one who assisted us at the front desk. When Linda found out we had Groupons insisted their last appointment is 8 pm. I told her we can reschedule but said it was fine. When we got in the room, I've noticed right away that the room had an unpleasant odor, bed sheet had some hair, soiled dirty white. I could just imagine if the light was even brighter! I wanted to change my mind and walk out as I didn't want to lay my body in that hard, sweaty, soiled bed. I wouldn't want to catch any disease. The oil had a very old stale smell even when I was wearing my mask, I can already smell if. His hands were very sweaty. The crystal salt scrub took longer than usually should be. As we headed back out to the front desk, Linda asked us if we felt good about the massage. My husband and I replied it was good. As my husband took out our tip of $10, she asked again if we felt good. I didn't catch what she meant at first and so my husband told me that she wanted us to add more on our tip. Because we didn't bring cash, my husband asked if we can use our credit card. I was so shocked and was speechless. I cannot believe that Linda was so bold to ask for more. Good thing I had $10 more dollars I found in my purse. I'm sharing my experience not to talk low or bad about a business or other people but it's helpful to warn other customers before going there. We are visiting Sacramento and I was looking for a deal on Groupon so I called first before purchasing. I'm glad I did because she offered to match that price without purchasing on Groupon, that's better for the business because they don't have to give Groupon a cut, it's not a bad idea to ask if you're looking on Groupon. It's really a shame yelp doesn't let you give negative stars. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!!! We learned the hard way you get what you pay for with massages. First of all my girlfriend and I went together and she specifically requested to have a female masseuse, they didn't listen and she got a male. This wasn't as big a deal because we were in the room together and I made sure she was ok. Granted we did both request a deep massage and told them which areas to focus on, they ignored our request for which area and I think they made sure to go way above and beyond our "deep" massage request. As you can see from the pictures my girlfriends back is completely bruised, she can't even sleep on her back now and is in a bit of pain. I didn't end up bruised just in a lot of pain and in worse condition than when I went in. We also both were supposed to get body scrubs (my girlfriend was most excited about this), but that didn't happen. Obviously disappointing. Call me crazy but I always thought a massage was to make you feel better and relaxed. What we received was pretty much the complete opposite of relaxing and made us both feel worse. I have no idea how anyone would ever go back to this place if they got the same treatment we did. This place should be out of business, probably why they're selling their massages on Groupon. I have had many massages in my life and by far this was the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had. This was my first time booking an appointment at New Happy Day Spa. When I arrived, and checked in, I was immediately brought back to a dim lit room and was told the massage therapist would be in shortly. My masseuse turned out to be the same man, Lucas, that checked me in. There was no consultation regarding the areas to work on and to avoid. Nor was I asked what type of massage I'd like or if I had a preference on the gender of the person who would be working on me. All of which is totally out of the norm. I SHOULD NOT have ignored those red flags. The massage started off like any normal massage. However, when he was massaging my back, at one point, he actually straddled himself on top of me which I felt was very inappropriate and unprofessional! It made me question if he was even licensed. I told the person at check out what happened and she told me she didn't understand what I was saying because there was a language barrier. I called the establishment a little later that day, hoping to speak to a manager, to let them know how uncomfortable I felt and was told to text a woman named Isabella with my complaint. WTH!!!! I was so angry I went online to file a complaint with the BBB and could not even do so because this location isn't on their website. My husband and I had a couples massage today and we had a wonderful experience. I am a regular customer. My husband comes occasionally. Such a nice staff. Massage rooms are always clean. Same for their bathroom . We made a reservation because it was a holiday and I'm glad we did because they were busy. The massage therapist will always change their pressure at this place if you ask. They don't always speak the best English but they are trained well. That's one of the multiple reasons I like this place. I had an appointment for a 60min Body Massage with Salt Scrub yesterday in the evening as I had a Groupon for. Everything was fine but the only problem was the actual massage itself. This was the most painful and worst "massage" I've ever had. The masseuse put way too much pressure when using her elbows and fingers, despite me asking many times for lighter pressure. The masseuse did not seem to understand what I would say when I would ask for lighter pressure; I had even told her that what she was doing hurt and yet she still continued with the same pressure. When massaging with her fingers and especially the boniest part of her elbows, she put ALL of her weight on that point that she was massaging. The masseuse also did not take any pressure off when massaging bony prominences; she would press just as hard. When massaging the back of my neck, she also would have such hard pressure and would be squeezing the SIDE of my neck instead of focusing on my actual neck muscles. Absolutely horrible. I had come to this business for back relief for my back pain but I left in worse condition than when I came in. I found that I was left with bruises on my spine and shoulder blade from how hard she was pressing down. I came to this business for my back pain but I left in much more pain than when I came in. I've had many massages and I have never had a problem with the pressure and have never been in that much pain during a massage. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Total luck of the draw. Called to book a couples massage. I asked for someone "really " strong like super strong for my large husband and someone strong for me. They said yes of course. We got two women who it didn't even feel like they were trained. Repetitive and timid and stayed in places so long it started to burn. We asked for things like (no legs) and they did legs anyway. I wanted to write down their names but they gave me ones that I swear weren't there's. I think I've had an "Amy and cici" each time I've been but these were not the same women. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be coming back. My first few massages were fantastic. The last two were absolutely terrible. My pain threshold is quite high and I was in absolute pain my last two massages. Which defeats the purpose of a massage. I actually prefer hard pressure but this was not it. I felt like both times they just used their knuckles and nothing else. I spoke up but I don't believe they understood/did anything about it.
