The best I can say is that the food was nice and hot. However the flavor left a lot to be desired. The Mongolian Beef lunch was "okay". The Orange Chicken and BBQ Pork were tough. What a cozy little spot! The limited seating adds to the intimate dining experience. The staff were kind and the service was quick. They had a lunch special for a cup of soup for an additional $0.95 with your entree order. LOVED the hot & sour soup! We got seated immediately so that was very good, he gave us water as soon as we sat down. The decorations in this place were amazing, I felt like I just walked into China Town. We ordered potstickers, The happy family meal, cashew chicken, and the orange chicken. It took about 15-20 minutes but that's what I expected, in 10 minutes our potstickers came and they were DELICIOUS!! By far, the happy family meal was the best, the vegetables in the dish were cooked to perfection, no complaints at ALL. The orange chicken was good, my only complaint is that the sauce wasn't really sticking to the chicken. The cashew chicken was good, my family member got it. Personally for me, I don't care for cashew so it was fine. Our waiter was super nice and always was ready to help and fill water! They have super big portions and encourage sharing!! We live in Vancouver, and we were in the mood for Chinese food and miniature golf. Hard combo to get in one place, so to the handy-dandy Yelp app I went to find Chinese food near Bullwinkle's in Wilsonville. And once again the Yelp app delivers big!! It directed me to New Hunan Kitchen. The menu looked good, the reviews were above average for a Chinese place, so we hopped in the Yelpmobile and headed south. It was easy to find, right off the last Wilsonville exit, in a mini-mall. We walked in and it looked like your pretty typical Chinese place, on the upside it was clean. We got menus and water glasses and it became apparent that to feed two adults and a teenage boy we needed to do the family dinner for three. We ordered happy family, General Tsao's and Szechuan Beef, but it also came with sweet and sour chicken and a boat load of appetizers and soup. The soup came first, I got the hot & sour, the Wife and the Tax Deduction got the Egg Flower. Both were excellent, the hot & sour was nice because it was not overloaded with pepper like so many places do. Our appetizers we next, a mounded plate filled with barbecue pork, fried shrimp, and crab wontons. All three were excellent. Before long the entrees started coming out. Sweet and Sour Chicken was first. Yes, I know, it's the throw away dish usually, but here at New Hunan the breading was so light and not greasy, it caught us off guard. As we enjoyed that the Szechuan Beef came out follow by General Tsao and finally the Happy Family. We, as a family, consider ourselves quite the experts on General Tsao's Chicken, we've had the best Portland and Vancouver have to offer. It did not look the same as some places, but the taste was amazing and we made short work of that platter. Service was excellent, everything was clean, there was some TVs with sports on in various corners of the dining area. We wobbled out of there filled to the brim with good food and went to walk it off with 18 holes of miniature golf. I kicked both their butts too, but then again it was my birthday and I think they let me win. read more

My wife and I stopped here for lunch. For under $20 we had a soup, 2 Egg rolls,and a chef special. The egg drop soup was very satisfying with corn in it that made it a little sweet. Look. I know it's tough to decide to put down the coin to eat outside of the home these days. I've lost 16 lbs because fast food restaurants no longer deliver any value with their horrible awful food. This place gives you value and FURTHERMORE I waited 14 hours to make this review and I heated my rice and honey chicken up in the oven and the beef lo mein in the w microwave. Both tasted as good as when I brought them home the night before. We judge a place on how much of the food is eaten and we devoured this food. Tasty food for hungry people, in a small strip mall space. I had the hot and sour soup, and the Kung Pao Tofu (mild) lunch. My dining partner had the egg drop soup and Kung Pao shrimp (regular) lunch. "Mild" might be "medium" elsewhere; it was perfect for me. The portions were generous, and the service was quick and friendly. The decor is a mix of red paper lanterns, Christmas, St. Patrick's Day, and random. The formica tables and booths were clean. Found a great new chinese restaurant for my wife and I. My brother comes to town every couple of weeks for work and stays in willsonville. We have been taking him to different restaurants in the area and have now prety much eaten at all of the major spots in town. Tonihgt we tried a new step from burgers and steaks to chinese. This place rocks! we ordered a couple of combos and I ordered the mongolian beef and house fried rice and it rocked. Just Ok. Our first time visiting since we moved to Wilsonville. I called for take out and it was made quickly. When I arrived, I did not see anyone sitting down to eat. That's not always a bad sign, but it was 5:30 on a Friday night. We ordered the broccoli beef and chicken w/ green beans. They put in those darn clam shell containers. When I got home, the containers leaked and there was a pool of sauce in the bag. Glad the bag didn't leak. Both dishes had good flavor. Problem was they over cooked both the beans and the broccoli. I got a soft spot for the Chinese fried plate lunch special. My son and I were killing some time in Wilsonville and the itch struck. I know they don't actually make the hot and sour soup but I really like theirs. Both hot and sour. You'd be surprised how many are neither. I like that you can sub lo mein for rice. Because my son is a horrible Asian and hates rice we opted for the lo mein. The taste took me back to my favorite childhood Chinese place. Slightly sweet and salty sauce but very simple. No Joke I will go back just for those stupid noodles it struck such a chord in my memory. Are they the best noodles around? Probably not but they are special to me. The sweet and sour pork was way overcooked and the pork too gristly. If I go back I'll steer clear of it. Spring rolls with crispy outsides and insides. It's the best way I know to eat cabbage. The one thing you can depend on of hunan is the lack of consistancy. Times it is very satisfactory and then theres yesterday. Called in yesterday and gave them 45 minutes to prepare our order. Got there five minutes early and another cudtomer was ahead of us to pickup his order. Apparently had not gotten back to the kitchen so the young lady took it back. About 10 minutes later she comes back with his while ours had been setting by the cash register getting cold. Once I got home discovered there was no sauce for the mu shu nor pancakes. The appettizer platter was greasy and cold and the pork disgusting. The three entrees were primearyly cabbage, celery and carrots with mystery meat and you couldnt tell what the dish was suppose to be. I know we have covid but this some bad service and food. Ordered here a few times because it's close to work. Here's the deal - if you like ginger, you will like their flavors. They use it in EVERYTHING. The good news is that it tastes like fresh ginger, not powdered. I'm not a huge fan, so it kind of ruins it for me. I think I'm done ordering here though. My sub gum was good, but the crunchy noodles were stale. I also ordered sweet & sour pork, and the pork meat tasted like it was a little past it's prime. You know that funky smell/flavor pork gets when it's been left raw in the fridge for a day or two too long?! Ya. Hope it's not going to revisit me in 6-7 hours. I defy any "normal" group of 3 people to go here, order their family style meal and eat everything they serve. i haven't seen so much food for 3 people in a very long time. mind you, it was $45 with the tip by the time we left, but we brought home a full meal for all three of us. Asked for 1 of each and and order of springs rolls because (spring rolls are not egg rolls!!!!). well, i ended up with 2 orders of spring rolls and 1 order of egg rolls, because he calls spring rolls egg rolls...they are made differently???) oh well...it was just bad customer service and food from people who hate their job? or just suck at it? idk. The pork fried rice was basically white rice with egg ang some old pork...yum. The cook on sundays should have never been hired. Because this is an issue EVERY FUCKING TIME THAT GUY WORKS the dining area!!!! He has zero standards and the cooks know it!! I will not ever eat here unless the older man is working.
