Humble, but excellent! We have been fans of Wu's since the days of their opening in Lake Grove and subsequent locations in Beaverton. We are so happy this location remains and is just a couple miles from our home. We have not been disappointed......ever. The food is tasty and served quickly out of the pans it was just cooked in. Service is beyond excellent......somewhat made by our frequent visits and the staff knowing what we will be ordering. The atmosphere is ok, remember you are there for the food and service. We are kinda picky when it comes to Chinese food, we have to have the perfect trifecta of food, ambience and service and this place nailed it!! The food was soooo good. We got Chicken Fried Rice, Chicken Lo Mein and Orange Glazed Chicken! All delicious :) the fried rice was soooo fresh and moist, the noodles had so much flavor and the glazed orange chicken surprised us because it was fried but grilled? It was so flavorful. We were served yummy hot tea when we sat down and they also packed our leftovers (which were plenty) The size of the portions were great and the prices were really good too. For the 3 dishes it was less than $50. We found our new go to spot! The restaurant has lots of seating :) also bug tables for big parties. read more

Top notch Chinese cuisine. I especially like their Mu shu pork! And the steamed pot stickers are just the right texture.

I would have given 5 stars but we went to Wu's Open Kitchen for my daughters 21st birthday because she loves the food and she wanted to have a cocktail. However; eventhough it was her 21st birthday they refused to serve her because, they say she needed to be one day older than 21 years old. That is the first time I have ever heard of that. In fact, she went into a liquior store and dispensory and was served ON HER 21st BIRTHDAY. My daughter did not want to aruge about the laws. We had a good dinner, with lots of food. read more

Ordered by phone within an hour of closing. Not my finest hour but it was necessary. They were so kind about it. The food was delicious.

I give them no stars at all. I wanted to try the restaurant so I ordered a meal to go. The meal was inedible and after three or four bites I threw the entire meal into the garbage. I can't understand how that restaurant can stay in business when they serve such terrible food. read more

For anyone unsure on whether or not to try this restaurant. I'd highly recommend going! Me and my family have been going to this restaurant for 20 years and have never once been disappointed. This is not only our favorite Chinese restaurant but favorite restaurant period. The staff are always really kind and even have our order memorized. Every time we've gone the service has been very good, they never make you wait super long to put your order in and they usually bring out your order in 10-15 minutes. They're always super attentive and at the end of the meal personally package up your left overs. Speaking of the food its amazing! We're usually a party of 4 or 5 but the portions are still big enough for us to take left-overs. Our favorite appetizers are the Dumplings in hot oil, spring rolls and egg flower soup. The dumplings in hot oil are so warm, soft, and pillowy and the mix of oil and peanut sauce works so well together. The spring rolls are served with the most delicious sweet and sour sauce for dipping and I personally really like the spicy mustard thats also served along with it. Our favorite entrees are the chicken lo mien, General Tso chicken (regular and spicy) and our favorite side dish is for sure the stir-fried green beans. A Chinese-American restaurant that feels like going back in time as far as the food and atmosphere. Nice staff and you can see into the kitchen as it's an open windowed area of the restaurant. Most dishes look similar with a 'red' sauce or 'white' sauce, but very tasty. Favorite dish is the walnut prawns. read more

I went for take out and got there before the dishes were ready. Our pot stickers were unlike we have had anywhere, ever. Very thick breaded like dumpling that was dry and difficult to bite and even cut with a knife with a small piece of dry pink meat inside. We couldn't eat them. The eggplant in garlic sauce was nice with a familiar flavor. We got some chefs special butterfly shrimp dish with 5 spices. Again unlike any Chinese dish we have had anywhere. Battered shrimp covered in a heavy sauce that was very very dark red. It wasn't bad however had no special flavor in particular and one person thought they were eating chicken. The interior of the restaurant has a beautiful Asian decor. The menu is extensive but the potstickers alone give me a pause to try other things again. read more

Old School with 80s vibe mauve pink decor with lots of restaurant supplies scattered within but it's the food that counts in a 'hood haunt, this one next to Petco in the Safeway lot off 99w. Stopped in on a lunch. Hubby gives it a 5* $11.95 Kung Pao Combo of Shrimp Scallops n Chix. Interestingly no veggie crunch which I like but the Hubs is all about the 'meat' anyway but a first for a KP with no garden game, hmm. Sauce is not too sweet, a good thing and barely spicy enough but we also did not state a preference, though visible fried Chiles, next time! Got some Chile oil this time for extra pow. 3/5 Chicken broccoli tasted very clean, thin light ginger sauce but broccoli missing the time in the wok for true wok hei/fire/char flavor was a tad too crunchy and sauce needed some oyster umami, it was a little singular and too light for me. Added brown rice for a mere $1, and came in slightly larger bowl than the white. It was well worth it. At lunch, Hot Sour was quite good, visible shredded pork & shitakes, I like a bit more tart from vinegar and heat from white pepper. Portion sizes for lunch mains were just enough that we didn't have any leftovers, so if you are used to taking a box, it's less likely here. Black tea on the house is served on entry along with iced water. Waitresses (2) are masked up, prompt and courteous. There's also a full full bar, which was very surprising although no menu that I saw featuring cocktails, maybe in PM hours. Bathrooms are nice and clean, seat covers check ;) a bit cold back there though, once you pass the the myriad of yet more supplies, boxes, and veg prep/green bean trimming at the table. Just a heads up on the experiential difference in dining room experience between hood and uptown dining. Fresh produce well prepared, healthier brown rice, full bar, supporting local, it's a stop to keep in mind when a sit down is on the cards and the Panda box isn't. We came here 3 times between Jun & Jul 2024. 2 times at lunch were pretty good ( 4 star ) with Walnut shrimps, shredded beef, Kung pao chicken/beef, general tso chicken, sweet & sour shrimp, scallop with vegetables and garlic green beans. Last time in mid July was at dinner foods were very salty (2 star) pretty much the same dishes plus sizzling plate with scallop, beef and chicken. All the dishes (except sweet & sour shrimp) were too much salt almost unbearable. Service was decent 4 star all 3 times. Overall my review is 3 star because of the salty dinner on July 25th. read more

This is solid, Chinese-American food. And the quality is good. You can literally watch through the big window as the chefs prepare your food. I highly recommend the dumplings in hot oil appetizer. The meat here is real. The chicken especially is not that spongey reformed stuff so many restaurants use. Everything is made fresh: it has to be... that big window. They have a full bar service which is good too. The service is great. The waitstaff know how to serve graciously and are always pleasant. And the dining room is pleasant enough with music playing at an appropriate level. This place has several large tables and can accommodate larger groups (though call ahead for reservations for a large group). This place is family-appropriate, though they don't have a specific child's menu. Wu's is located in a strip mall anchored by Safeway right on 99W and there's a traffic light so you can get in from either direction and leave in either direction too. There's plenty of parking. I have, in the past, been joined here by a wheelchair using friend, and we had no trouble at all. The facility presented no serious barriers and the staff were most accommodating. Chinese-American cuisine seems very vegetarian-friendly, but -- while I don't know the specific practices of this restaurant -- I always caution to ask as Oriental cooks often add meat-stocks or fats to seemingly-vegetable-only dishes. Pork or chicken fat do, afterall, and a touch of deliciousness to vegetables. So, if this is important to you, ask. Wu's Open Kitchen is the best Chinese-American restaurant in the Tigard/Sherwood/Newberg area. The food is good and service is always gracious. I recommend it. read more

Wu's has been a favorite for years. Honestly the best Szechuan restaurant in the area. They follow covid protocols, and mandate masks when you come in and pick up your order. They're a local family owned business. Some favorites would be their sesame beef, honey walnut shrimp, general tso's chicken, and garlic string beans. Service was great. Ambiance was comfy and kitsch. My Chinese food experience hinges on hot and sour soup. And pot stickers. The hot and sour soup was oddly flavored, not much tofu and veg and odd texture with floaty bits of unidentifiable meat. Pot stickers were oddly flavored ugly meatballs in a thick doughy covering. Clearly pan fried more than steamed and very tough. Chicken and snow peas was flavorless, twice cooked pork was not spicy (no scalp sweat), house special chow mein has very little protein and not pan fried noodles. The bbq pork fried rice was pretty good and meaty. Lots of customers. I fear this restaurant caters to local tastebuds rather than the cuisine. Seems the norm in Oregon. read more

It's the same great food you would expect - this ain't a five star restaurant - this place is delicious fresh Chinese food at a very reasonable price. The food was TERRIBLE, I can't believe that this place is in business. I drove from Vancouver WA to this restaurant and what a waste of money and time. We ordered potstickers, that were so-so. But all the 4 dishes that are in the picture were bad. Panda Express is superior to this place and I don't eat there either. After all, I'm half Chinese. read more

We have frequented Wu's Open Kitchen at several locations since 2005, and we have not been disappointed since. Even throughout the pandemic trials. This has been our go-to place for Chinese food. More so than any other Chinese restaurants. I strongly recommend them. They have catered to our special dietary needs; gluten-free and Keto.
