My family and I have been coming here for our dental needs for years. Dr. Kim has always been friendly and professional. Last night, I chipped one of my teeth during dinner and it was painful. Without appointment, I showed up first thing in the morning. Dr. Kim took me in right away, examined it, and discussed treatment options with me. It's like those 1-800-dentist commercials where you dread to see the dentist because of a terrible experience. I selected this dental office for my "hmo" with Delta Dental, but unknown to me was how terrible the service and dentists were... I had to select a new dentist because my work insurance wouldn't cover the dentist that I usually go to (they only accepted the "ppo" version of Delta). After scheduling an appointment several weeks in advance, the receptionist told me over the phone that I would need to come in 20 minutes early to fill out new patient paperwork. Fine, I show up over 30 minutes early since it takes time to commute from work to an appointment. I'm finished with my paperwork early, and they have me sitting in the office for an hour (this is 30 minutes past my appointment time already). The receptionist tells me that new patients will have to take x-rays for their files, fine... I mention that I had previously had several panoramic scans because I had wisdom teeth removed recently... I had my previous dentist fax over a copy of the panoramic scan, but it wasn't a clear fax...after giving them that information, they told me that they wouldn't be able to keep my appointment for a ROUTINE teeth cleaning without x-rays. Take in mind at this point they aren't willing to do any more x-rays on me because I've already been exposed to several x-rays in the past 6 months... What made me even more angry was that I was there EARLY, just like they had asked me to. If I had been informed to bring along previous dental records like x-rays, I would have done so. And I told the dentists who came out to talk to me that I had ample time to go home to pick up the x-ray but their incompetent receptionist didn't even tell me I would need an x-ray. I've told several people about this terrible practice that they call a dental office and I'll keep telling people. Don't trust Dr. Chen or Dr. Kim. Make sure you yelp a potential dentist before you select them! If there were negative stars, this place would get it! read more

It's my first time giving one star. If I can give zero stars, I would. I had a terrible experience with Dr. Kim, because I felt like she man-handled my mouth during the oral examination. She was so rough prodding my mouth with her instruments that I did not dare to go for further treatment. I was trying to save some money and switched to a HMO dental plan vs. a PPO dental plan. Unfortunately, my previous dentist (Dr. Karen Ho, I'm sorry I cheated...) only accepted PPO so I decided to give Dr. Kim the benefit of doubt, even I kinda knew what to expect based on the prior reviews. But after the examination, Dr. Kim suggested I get $600 worth of service, many of which were not even covered by my insurance. She also asked for me to come back every 4 months, which mean I have to pay out of pocket. People...I did not even have one cavity, what is this woman trying to pull on me? On top of this, she did not even smile once during my visit and she obviously hated her job. DO NOT GO! dont waste your time, I'm really forgiving because I know everyone has good days and bad days, but this dentist is not a good one. This review is for Dr. Kim only. read more

My experience here was great. Maybe because I didn't have any cavities? I had a panoramic x-ray, and then was told that I have slight gingivitis because I'd been brushing too hard. I asked Dr. Kim why they would invent such things as med/hard toothbrushes? She simply told me: "Those were made for tile scrubbing." Amen sister. She told me my teeth were in good condition otherwise and sent me home with a soft bristle toothbrush, floss, and sensodyne toothpaste. Dr. Kim seems genuine and knows her stuff. She was gentle when examining my gums/teeth... so maybe it just varies on each patient's sensitivity level when it comes to feeling pain (based on the below reviews) read more

I'm honestly surprised by all of the 1 star reviews. I have been going to Dr. Kim for the past 3.5 years and I couldn't have asked for a better dentist. She and the staff are so kind and helpful. They always call to make sure that I know when my next appointment is. Any procedures that I've needed to have Dr. Kim would take the time to explain the process thoroughly. My beloved dentist was no longer part of my insurance so I picked this place mainly because they are USC grads just like myself. I showed up for my annual teeth cleaning appointment, they said they couldn't do it unless i have an x-ray exam done with them. I told them that i didn't want to do xray because i just had one done about 6 months ago. They should have informed me that when i made my appointment, knowing that I am a new patient there. The receptionist rudely responded that I should have known that I need to bring xray copy with me whenever i change a dentist. Really!?! Well, obviously i didn't know that...because i'm not a dental receptionist,dental assistant, or a dentist! The receptionist then told me that if i can bring in the copy of previous xray, then it'd be ok. So I made a 2nd appt. I brought in my xray copies. Now, the dentist told me that she couldn't see a thing! really!?! how comes my previous dentists could see them? She just stormed out of the exam room and sent her assistant to tell me that. Give me a break! The dentist couldn't tell me that herself...unprofessional! She could also have told me that she wanted to make more money by taking new x-ray. What a crook! I brought the same x-ray copies to another dental office. He could see them just fine. read more

Wish I could leave zero stars. Receptionist was so nice so I had a good vibe calling in. Even came early and she was so quick about trying to get my xrays started before my turn. Dr seemed nice enough when I came in but then she started screaming at the poor assistants. You could tell the staff was overwhelmed and her rudely shouting at them was crazy. At one point she was yelling at one of them because of a file. Like she was shouting from the hallway at them. Definitely needs to stay home if she's in a bad mood. It made me feel stressed and uncomfortable I can't imagine her staff having to deal with that attitude. read more

I bought the most expensive crown because the doctor said it would last ten years or more. Three years later, the crown breaks for the second time and Dr. Cheng says that they never would had told me the crown would last that long. It wasn't even him that saw me... The fact of the matter is they pushed the most expensive product, but didn't stand behind it. I've been coming to this dental office for several years now. It looks like they changed their receptionist and dental assistants. I really like the new receptionist, Tatum. She's very polite and was very helpful with my dental insurance questions. The new assistants were good too. They were friendly and pretty gentle with my x-rays. I usually have a bad gag reflex and have trouble with the x-rays. I usually see Dr. Kim every 6 months or so for my periodic checkups and cleanings. She's a wonderful and quality oriented dentist. She's done everything in my mouth from crowns to fillings. I've never had any problems with them so far after all these years. If you're looking for a new dentist, give them a try. Dr. Cheng has been my dentist for over 4 years and he's the only person I trust with my teeth. He's gentle and does quality work. Dentistry is generally not cheap, but if you expect exceptional work at reasonable prices, Dr. Cheng is the one to see. read more

I have been coming to this dental office for a few years . I have seen both Doctors Cheng, and Kim and adore them both. They both have the same standard for excellent work. I just recently saw Dr. Ip on an emergency visit, he is from the Doctors other office in Downey, I was told he would start coming in on certain days. I was reluctant at first because of my trust and loyalty with Dr. Kim, and Dr. Cheng, but Dr. Ip was amazing! Very gentle and thorough, another standout member added to the team. I came on here to look for the address so that I can google the fastest way there from Chino since I have a morning appointment. Like another yelper, I am also surprised at the 1 star reviews. My husband and father in law has been coming here for almost 10 years and I've been coming here for the last few years for routine cleaning, cavities, and my husband had his front teeth replaced and teeth whitened from this office. We've never had an issue with Dr. Kim or her staff. They are always friendly with us. I have great experiences with Dr. Kim ever since she took over her current Arcadia office. The previous doctor before her wasn't good at all. I have tried many dentist in the past. It's a hard press to find a dentist who is willing to take the time to explain issues and procedures in details. One reason makes her stand out from the rest is that she is truly passionate about her profession, and she really wants to educate and help her patients to improve their dental health. She willing to go that extra miles to help you if you want it! One time, my daughter fell and chipped one of her new tooth in the front. It was on a Saturday. Dr. Kim was in the office, but she was not seeing patients. I left a message in her office, and she returned my phone call shortly. She willing to see my daughter last minutes to ensure everything is OK. How many dentist do you know who are willing to go for that extra mile for their patients? My family and I care greatly about our dental health. We have not yet to have any cavities because we floss and brush minimum twice a day. The problem I have is I brush too much or too hard which is also not good. Dr. Kim tried to find out how and why, so she could correct my problems to prevent the situation to get worse. Due to brushing too hard, I had filling done on the side of my teeth to minimize sensitivities. It crack or fell off after 7-8 months which is due to bitting too hard or grounding teeth at night. She will re-filled it for me for free for one time after its initial fell off. She didn't have to re-fill it for me for free, but she did!! This is more than reasonable. I am not complaining here! If anything, I still feel grateful and appreciate to find a good dentist. The filling on the side of the tooth is a procedures that can't possibly last forever. Don't we all wish everything last forever. . ;-p My daughter has been under Dr. Kim's care ever since her first tooth. She has always felt safe and comfortable under Dr. Kim's care. Dr. Kim teachers her on how to use her electric tooth brush and flossing. My daughter have heard many horrible stories about other dentist from her friends (we all have experiences about kids with their stories!). She see Dr. Kim as someone who would really cares, and someone who will protect her teeth to prevent pain - this is just awesome! I can't speak for others in terms of their negative experiences, but I had a great experiences with Dr. Kim, and I will continue to have her as my dentist. I have heard that 98% of U.S. populations don't take good care of their teeth by flossing and brushing daily. Could this be one of the major reason why we heard so much horror stories about PAIN associate with dental procedures? I honestly don't think I could handle my daily life to look at 98% of mouths that are full of problems & bad smells ~~ ;-p If anything, dentist gets my respect! I think Dr. Kim & Dr. Cheng are both very great in what they do. I think doctor kim is very friendly and very passionate in what she does when it comes to taking care of her patients and the dental work she does for her patients. She is very detail in her work and gental when it comes to doing procedures. I have also seen Doctor Cheng as well and he too is a great doctor. Doctor Cheng is very friendly and gental as well. Dr. Cheng and Dr. Kim are both highly well educated in their profession and always making sure that the patient care is number one. I have nothing but great experiences with both doctors and i would recommend all my friends and family to come to this office you have two great doctors and a wonderful staff front and back office workers are very friendly and kind and the office is very clean and neat. I truly recommend for people to come to this office and the one they also have another office in downey. i have been too both of their locations and their stafff in the downey office is also wonderful as well.
