We decided to try out Parklane because of their marketing and outreach - they did presentations at our son's preschool. For a place that's supposedly committed to pediatric dentistry, Parklane sure makes it difficult for kids to be seen. The pediatric dentist is only available on Wednesdays, which is probably where most of our issues arose. During our 4yo son's cleaning/checkup in April 2026, we were told that he may need a tooth extraction soon or the infection in one of his teeth might spread to his other teeth. We decided not to schedule the extraction at that time as we needed to think about it and the timing of the procedure. A month later, in May 2026, our son was complaining of the tooth pain, so we called to schedule the appointment to pull the tooth, only to be told that an appointment won't be available until August 2026. That seems an awful long time to wait to pull an infected tooth, but apparently, 3 months is the earliest availability. We brought our 1yo daughter in for her cleaning and exam. It took 1.5 hours, and of that, 1 hour and 15 min was waiting. Waiting in the lobby ~25 min to be admitted. In the room, waiting for 55+ min to be seen. Even with nonstop bluey loop (not full episodes, but a YouTube loop of random clips), our toddler was going nuts and so were we. I had to go move the car at some point, which I guess is when the dentist came in and did the cleaning (hubby said it took at most 10 min). You'd think that pediatric dentists, especially the ones who see younger patients, would understand the need for timeliness with energetic toddlers. I been coming to Parklane Dental a few times BUT this time I had an amazing experience that stood out. I had my deep cleaning done by a hygienist name Arrika/ Areka (I may be misspelling her name). She is the sweetest lady who made me feel comfortable throughout the whole process. Previously, I had a deep cleaning done on my left side with an Asian female who did not communicate as much. Instead of telling me to turn my head slightly towards her she just moves my chin and she didn't talk me through the process of what she's going to do. This time I had a deep cleaning done on my right side with Arrika/ Areka- who verbalized every step which made me feel more at ease. Last time the hygienist used topical anesthesia then went straight to giving me the injections and proceed right into the cleaning procedure which explains why I felt sensitive & discomfort during the cleaning. I don't think she provided enough topical anesthesia or she didn't give it enough time to take effect - & I felt the injection & medication going in. This time, I had a pleasant & much better experience thanks to Arrika. She made me feel comfortable & checked in with "are you okay" from time to time. I didn't feel any pain or sensitivity because she was thorough with the numbing process. We waited till I felt numb after the injections to start cleaning. She was very considerate because I have eye lash extensions which gets smooshed by the goggles, she rolled up some gauze put it near my nose bridge and that helped a lot- I could actually open up my eyes. She's considerate because she cleans a small section then rinse & suction. I didn't get that treatment with the other hygienist because I remembered I almost aspirated because she kept cleaning & didn't suction and I had to swallow cause there was too much particles accumulating in my mouth. I'm grateful for the careful attention and consideration she showed to ensure my comfort throughout the procedure. She truly shows that she cares for her patients. She informed me after the treatment to not eat anything chewy until the numbness wears off, to rinse with warm salt water if I felt sore, and I shouldn't eat spicy food for at least 2 days as it's healing. read more

Showed up for my toddler's pediatric dentist appointment which is ONLY available on Wednesdays only to be told they don't take our dental insurance. I purposely provided the insurance information weeks ago because we ran into similar situations before with Parklane Dental. I did not receive any followup call after providing the detailed insurance information even after I specifically said "please reach out if there's any issues with the insurance/coverage". My husband and I took the day off and pulled my toddler out of school for the appointment only to be told they don't accept our health insurance and that the visit would need to be paid out of pocket. No follow-up, no apologies until we sternly provided our feedback that the process is broken. I appreciate one of the nurses at the front desk for acknowledging that they should have called and that was a mistake on their part for not calling but she also said that it's up to the insurance department to check the patients insurance information on a rolling basis. However, as a customer, I could care less which department was responsible. It's the failure of the entire business front. Keep in mind we've been coming here since my toddler was a baby and we will not be coming back again with this level of service and followup, or lack thereof. Also, the dentist and nurses only did a mediocre job with cleaning my toddler's teeth each time we visited, so I guess it's not a huge loss either way. read more

Don't let the razzle dazzle fool you. Is it cute? Yes But I am here for service not fancy wall paper and TV for kids. First time coming here I was advised that my daughter has a potential cavity. My daughter has been going to see the dentist since she was 2 at another location no issues there and x-rays every 1 year to 18 month or so. Here they said every 6 months for xrays. My insurance can pay for it but do I want to subject my daughter to the radiation if it's not needed? They said it's a must. Already a bit confused. First red flag for today, after cleaning, I asked how's her cavity? She said I don't know I'm only a cleaning hygienic. Ok so you're not looking at it then where is the denist? They said no she wasn't scheduled and the dentist won't see her until next visit. Ok ...why not? If you know it's a potential issue. They said that I'm done, so I went to the front still super confused. I'm scheduling the next appointment and their automatic response "what's the best available time in 6 months for you"? 6 months? My insurance covers 3xs a year, so it'll be every 4 months. Are you even looking at my profile or cause that's the easiest run of the mill time frame? Free giveaway lipbalm for a checking or review. I was just going to check in but they said they wanted a review. I told them they won't like my review. Parklane asked why? I told them I'm confused and usually this is how I experience Pediatric dentist..they gave a lot of attitude and reluctantly let the dentist to see my daughter. At the time it felt like you're going in an emergency room and the RN is treating you, not looking at charts, and you're asking about your current conditions but the doctor won't see you and nobody can answer you until the next visit. When I left, I called South Bay Pediatric Dentistry (SBPD). They were so nice and patient, answering all my questions. First up, x-rays only needed every 6 months if the kids are more prone to tooth decay. They may do it every 1 year or 18 month. It's up to the parents but they will make recommendations based on individual situations. Damn Parklane...is it a money grab with insurance for you for the x-rays quick several hundred bucks for a couple minutes? SBPD explained my insurance plan provides 3 cleaning but only 2 exams with the dentist. Out of pocket would be $62 for an extra exam. See with an explanation, I now understand why only a hygienist was scheduled for my daughter now Parklane. I can also decide and have an option if I want to pay out of pocket. Parklane called back as for a consent for me to transfer x-rays to SBPD. Mandy and I started talking as I requested for my future appointments to be canceled. We talked about my experience and she said my daughter's teeth is pretty clean so only 2 appointments were needed. I asked why is that not communicated then? Also why would I not want to maximize my insurance since I pay a hefty amount for it each month even if her teeth is relatively clean? Just own up to not doing your job looking at profiles and checking insurance policy. Mandy explained that usually Parklane does go by the 2x exam per year from the insurance but if a parent or kid request/has issues, then the exam can come complimentary. I asked if she billed me and she said yes. I requested it to be removed against my insurance since she said it can be complimentary and it wasn't explained to me. She didn't sound too happy. She put me on hold, said waiting for insurance to bill and then will refund, and said all future appointments are canceled then hung up. My qualm is not with the hygienist or dentist but the front desk inability to communicate and explain situations. I don't work there everyday to understand procedures nor have the ablility to read minds. It's your responsibility to inform me when I have questions not half answers. I had to go to another dentist to get explanations and out of pocket pricing. As in reading the other bad reviews, most of the issues comes from the front desk and their attitude. If Parklane fixes the front desk customer experience, I'm sure consistent 5 stars is possible. Highlight: is this place really for kids? It's marketed as such but only 1 day (Wednesday) Parklane has a Pediatric dentist. Feels like they're just riding the coat tail of Hello Kitty. As for now I'm going to SBPD with better communication and customer satisfaction on my part in which they have 4 days of Pediatric dentist to chose from. read more

Overall, I've been very pleased with the service Parklane Dental provides. My family has been coming to them for over 5 years. My kids have typically seen Dr. Eric To, but we have had other dentists who have consistently delivered nothing short of a great experience. However, we had the unfortunate experience with Dr. Crystal Yeap yesterday. She made us feel so rushed. She couldn't wait 3 minutes for my 5 year old son to use the restroom after his cleaning to go over the results of my kids check-up. I had no explanation as to what the recommended treatment my daughter needed and only got a brief explanation from the assistant. She makes you feel like just another number she needs to get through versus a patient. AVOID DR. YEAP and you will most likely have a pleasant experience here. read more

I've been looking to change my dentist for a while and was recommended by a friend to check out Parklane Dental. They have two locations, one in Arcadia with the other in Temple City. While I am technically closer to the Arcadia location (located in the Vons Plaza), I decided to go with the Temple City location for one reason. It's Sanrio themed! I'm not afraid of the dentist, though I am a kid at heart, so when I saw that I would see Hello Kitty with a giant toothbrush right by the door I had to give it a try. While Hello Kitty and friends drew me in, the team of dentist, hygienist, and staff at Parklane Dental made me stay. The office is clean, and the team is efficient. I made an appointment over the phone for a standard cleaning for 9am on Monday and was in the dentist chair at 9:05 (after filling out the required paperwork). Before starting the cleaning process, the hygienist gave me some mouth wash and explained the cleaning process. She asked if I had any pain or discomfort before doing a quick examination and taking 'Before' photos of my teeth. I was then handed sunglasses to put on, which I thought was strange, but it's so I don't have to stare directly at the light used by the dentist. The cleaning started out with the ultrasonic water pick before switching over to a manual one. The hygienist was meticulous in cleaning out the gaps between my teeth while checking in every couple minute on whether I had pain or sensitivity. Once done with the picks, she finished with a quick polish and taking more photos. After the cleaning was done, my teeth were examined by the dentist, Dr. Tim Ng. Dr. Ng was extremely professional and spent time ensuring that my teeth were not bothering me. He also examined my teeth as well as my bite to make sure I'm not putting excessive strain on my jaw while I chew or grinding my teeth when I sleep. Bad news was he did notice that one of my old fillings was chipped and it would need to be repaired but assured me that it was going to be a quick repair since it just started failing. The cleaning and examination process took about 45 minutes, though 5 minutes was used to schedule my return visit to repair my filling. I was given a goodie bag which contained a toothbrush and a travel tube of toothpaste. I am disappointment that they no longer have the Sanrio themed bags, like I said, I am a kid at heart. I had a great experience and who really says that about a visit to the dentist. I can safely say that it was one of my best dentists experience I had ever had. Now for the details. I have Cigna Dental PPO and the cleaning was covered by my insurance. I did have to pay $10 since I opted for the fluoride treatment. Your cost may be different. Parking was street parking though they did have city parking in the back. For the Pokemon Go players, one gym in range so fill up your bag and maybe get some coins while you're at it. Lastly yes, they do have Sanrio character themed rooms. I was situated in the Twin Stars room, but they have others like Gudetama and Hello Kitty. read more

I know I was thrilled when I found out). But cuteness aside, the care here is immaculate. The crew at Parklane Dental made for the most attentive dental visit I've ever had. Elizabeth was my dental assistant, Dr. Tim was my dentist and I didn't quite catch the name of my hygienist :( but everyone was so kind and enthusiastic in answering questions I had! Dr. Tim gave me a detailed breakdown of my teeth after Xrays and photos were taken. He answered questions I had and addressed concerns I had about an incoming tooth wisdom tooth. A horrible place. We've been going to this place for years and I feel that I've been tricked and lied to. My child is 6, should be seen by a pediatric dentist at the time we started going when he was 3.5. For some reason, he hasn't. When one of the dentist found that he has a cavity, that's when they referred us to a pediatric dentist onsite. We saw the general dentist 5/3 and waited three weeks for the pediatric dentist to find out that he has four cavities, and then we need to come back the 3rd time for treatment, following with several other treatments. That's a big difference and makes me feel that that they missed a lot during their regular check up routine. When I expressed I need to have a second opinion, the said they will not bill my consultation and will just drop our future appointments. I guess I am too much of a trouble maker for them because I complained. Now, the best is just to drop this unhappy client. We will happily go somewhere else. I do not recommend this place. If you want to go make sure you request a pediatric dentist. One front desk said I never requested, one said I switched out from Wednesday and should be informed will not be seeing a pediatric dentist. Be aware of what you get. read more

When searching for a pediatric dentist for my daughter, I found this wonderful Sanrio-themed dentist office that made the terrifying dentist seem more like a visit to a play place. The environment is warm and inviting, particularly for anxious kiddos. My daughter enjoys when they have their Christmas decorations up here. Also, parking is pretty easy in the area. We have never struggled to find a nearby parking space. The exam room has a TV screen for the ultimate distraction. The office staff and dentists are always friendly and positive. They are patient and understanding with a little kid's hesitation, fears, and lack of cooperation -- which is very important in creating a long-term willingness for my kid to go to the dentist. Afterwards, they let her pick a little toy as a reward and she leaves with a tote bag that includes a Hello Kitty toothbrush, floss, and their literature. I could not have asked for a better dentist experience for my little anxious toddler. They seem to be popular (I am not surprised), so scheduling an appointment is not easy to come by. My only wish is that there were more availabilities and I hesitated in writing this review because I know that only means more limited openings. However, I have to praise this dental office and do it justice with a well-deserved, 5-star exemplary review.
