I use to love coming to New Indian Restaurant. Unfortunately, a few months ago my experience with a young female server has made me change my mind . I felt a little bit of an attitude due to our choices of preference in ordering. The server was slightly rude and called us "basic" due to our choices. We had a guest with us that had never tried Indian food and we ordered our regular and favorite dishes, no big deal . I was slightly embarrassed because I felt this young lady server was looking down at us . It could have easily been prevented with a simple "hey, I see you really like these dishes but have you ever tried this dish, it's delicious you should give it a try etc.. instead she called us "basic" and made me feel uncomfortable for our choices, and I had to ask her what dish she recommends . The cost was $54.83 after taxes. I Placed The order online and it was ready in a little less then 30 minutes. The chicken tiki masala was tender and I choose medium spicy and woo it's had a heck of a kick.. I'm excited to try the spicy next time !! I'm glad I found this place . This is our favorite Indian restaurant and we've been eating this the of food for 30 years. I highly recommend it for their southern style dishes, vegan dishes, and even their northern dishes are fantastic. This is our third time eating here since the change of ownership and name and we'll definitely keep coming. We always over order so we have tons of leftovers...and all dishes we order are vegan. We love their samosas and gol gappe (crispy globe crackers served with potato, chickpea, & onion filling). The seasoned, herb water served with gol gappe is to die for and the mint chutney they serve with these appetizers is fantastic. We then ordered masala dosa, a large lentil/rice flour crepe stuffed with deliciously seasoned mashed potatoes & onions, and served with tomato and coconut/mint chutneys. This dish comes with a spicy lentil and vegetable soup called sambar. SO good! We followed these items with three of our go-to vegetable dishes, bhindi masala (okra cooked with spices and our absolute FAVORITE dish of the night), baingan bharta (roasted eggplant with tomatoes, a bit smokey, and amazing), and aloo gobhi (cauliflower and potatoes with spices, and so delish). We like spicy food so ordered all our dishes medium heat. We could really feel the heat for the chili, but it wasn't overpowering. To accompany these dishes we ordered thepla (whole wheat flat bread sleuth fenugreek leaves and sesame seeds). It was amazing and South Indian style bread we've come to enjoy a lot, though their garlic naan looked unbelievable. We'll get that next time. The service was steady and the servers were friendly, even thought the place was packed. When we left at 8 there were only 2 open tables, one was the one we vacated. Prices are fair and the atmosphere is casual. We saw couples, families, a variety of cultures, and a range of ages represented in the customers. Water was not refilled once, and tables next to us that got there after us all got their mains. We had an event to go to by 7:15, and of course we had to leave by then because there was no way we would be able to eat and pay by 7:05pm. So we asked them to cancel our order because it was outrageous how long they made us wait, as well as the lack of service. They apologized but still asked us to pay for our samosas and drinks. One of the worst dining experiences I've had recently.
