I brought a gold 14k skull ring around January or February 2018 from this store when they were located around the block on Mulberry Street. It was a supposedly a 14 karat gold skull ring it weighed 15.3 grams originally they wanted $1000 for this ring but we were able to settle on $800 again this was back in 2018. On August 19, 2024 because of hard times I went to the jewelry district at 47 Street and I sold this ring at a place that pays the highest payout for jewelry and that I dealt with in the past to my surprise the ring came out to be 13 karat gold when I paid for a 14 karat gold ring and it was stamped 14 karat gold. Now I know for a fact, the jeweler that I bought this ring from made the ring because when I bought it. The wife of the Jewler told me that her husband designed the ring. When I went back to the store today to talk about it the jeweler asked me why I didn't take the ring back to him to buy it. I told him were you going to give me the $800 full price that I paid after I found out that the ring was under karat ?. When I asked him if he knows what "PLUMB" gold is something any Jewler should know he didn't answer me on both questions and when I asked him a few other questions he didn't answer me again now if he would've sold the ring at 13 karat gold I would've bought it because I wanted the ring at a lower price but your going and telling your customers that a ring or the gold content is a certain karat and then it's not that's not a fair jeweler. Today I made a complaint to 311. I gave my name I gave my number and I hope to get a response. I walk in there, expecting to just drop the chain off and pay some money for the repair job, but the guy working behind the counter (who I think also co-owns the place???) took my chain to the back for literally 30 seconds and then came back with it good as new and told me it was free of charge. He even gave me an old-fashioned handshake at the end like we were longtime friends. Made me feel like a special man walking out of that place. At any rate, if you live in the East Village or anywhere near it, don't go to any other store for your jewelry repair. Yat's is not the place you go to purchase an engagement ring or a single stone to be reset elsewhere. They specialize in fashion jewelry, i.e. stuff you buy your significant other as a present. For example, they will have solitaire diamond earrings, but they are not so much into selling single stones and they make most of their sales off of stylized smaller rock earrings. They have a wide selection of rings and earrings for work and fun including a few items that are not on display. For people who are not used to shopping in jewelry stores, I would say this is a great place to check out. The shop is run primarily by women. Josephine is my favorite sales person. She's super helpful without being pushy. That is the general style of sales. I have done comparative shopping, but found that the clearing price ends up being the same. In the category of fashion jewelry there is a lot more flexibility. These ladies do their best to price in a place that allows them to make a profit, but is still a great bargain. I've worked with a few other ladies there as well. I generally give her my price range and she shows me a ton of stuff until she can hone into what makes sense for my style preference and price point. If you find something you like, you can put $20 down for them to hold it, if you want to think about it. They are also able to make custom jewelry pieces. If you want to bring a picture, from a magazine or website, they might be able to create something that is extremely similar. As for trusting that there stuff is real, it is. Don't sweat it. They are legit. Cost-wise, I've priced them against a few of the typical discount jewelry web-sites like Overstock and Blue Nile. They definitely price out better. They do have some CZ on gold pieces, but for the most part their stuff is all pearl, precious and diamond gemstones on white and yellow gold. I put $$ because this stuff isn't cheap like a cheap jewelry store. It's moderate priced, but certainly cheaper than you would find in other places. This is particularly the case if you pay cash. Indeed, I would not go here if I wasn't paying cash. It just doesn't make sense. That's not how people work in Chinatown. In short, for the gal that likes unique pieces that don't break the bank, add this to your accessories places for that something special.

I wanted to see a variety of designs, shapes, and settings--and they had so many beautiful options to try on. The experience was warm, helpful, and not overwhelming at all. However, I ended up going with another jeweler a few stores down because my boyfriend had a connection there. The moment I received my ring, I immediately regretted not choosing Jangmi. The ring I got was nothing close to what I had asked for. The prongs were bent, and I had specifically requested a higher setting so that a wedding band could sit flush--but none of my bands (even very thin ones) sat properly. I brought it back and asked for multiple fixes. To his credit, he did make adjustments for free, but when I received the ring the second time, it still didn't match my vision at all. What I wanted was simple and classic: a 6-prong setting with tall, straight prongs (similar to the Tiffany style) and small claw tips. Instead, the ring was still not high enough, and the prongs were extremely thick--both from the top and side view--which completely took away from the beauty of the diamond. At that point, I was honestly so frustrated and ready to give up. But I remembered how positive my initial experience at Jangmi was, so I decided to reach out and ask if they could reset my ring. Even though the previous jeweler was willing to keep making changes for free, I didn't feel comfortable going back. I would much rather pay for something done right. And I am SO glad I did. Jangmi had the exact design I had been envisioning all along. Mrs. Kim was incredibly patient, attentive, and knowledgeable. She had a wax model made for me to try on before finalizing the ring, which made such a huge difference. Seeing and wearing the design in person gave me so much confidence--honestly, I preferred this so much more than just looking at CAD images, which can be hard to interpret if you're not in the industry. Within just two weeks, my ring was exactly what I had dreamed of from the start. The craftsmanship, the proportions, the setting--everything was perfect. My biggest regret is not coming to Jangmi Jewelry from the beginning. But one thing I can promise is that I will absolutely be coming back here for my wedding bands. If you're even thinking about going here--just do it. You won't regret it!
