We discovered New Leaf Pho when everything was shut down at the beginning of the pandemic. Everything we tried for takeout was excellent. Then, the heat wave of 108 degrees drove us out of our house and we found the charming bar. Dusty and Cathy are excellent bartenders and the regulars are a hoot. read more

The bar at the New Leaf Pho is the go-to spot for me and my wife when we want to go somewhere we feel welcomed, and that has a local community feel. The Tues, Wed, Thur bartender Dusty welcomed us to Poulsbo when we first moved here 4&1/2 years ago, and right away memorized our names and has since introduced us to several other regulars. She advised us on what have become some of out favorite foods to order (deep fried pot stickers, bahn mi, salt & pepper wings), and we enjoy ourselves every time we visit. If you haven't been, give it a try - I recommend the bar during mid-week, when Dusty can make you feel welcomed as well. read more

The new menu has many new things on it. We had Chinese items that were on the old menu. The food was delicious! We are looking forward to trying some other new entrees. Four stars instead of five for allowing smokers literally at the front door, the longer than usual wait and chilly temperatures of the dining room. We will be back for the great food. read more

My husband and I ordered Ivy's Special Chicken and Honey Walnut Prawns. Both meals were delicious! This is the first time we've ordered from New Leaf Pho but it will not be the last! We were craving Chinese and Poulsbo lacks for restaurants. Ordered via Uber eats, a little disappointed rice doesn't come with anything (especially for the price you pay). We had 4 people and were worried when we saw the portions, but it fed us all with left overs! Very fresh, very flavorful and we were very impressed and will order from here again....will assure I have rice cooking first though! . Come in guys....rice is cheap, include some!!!! read more

Inedible. We ordered takeout and it was basically $26 wasted because it went right in the garbage. First off, they wrapped the "fresh" spring rolls in cellophane and then stuck them, like that, on top of a hot container of pad Thai, needless to say it left the spring rolls gummy and the lettuce wilted, one would think someone who was actually Thai would know never to put cold rice noodles up against hot food but that is just the start of an all around disgusting meal. If you can get past the now hot and not fresh spring rolls, try to swallow the disgusting shrimp, clearly the cheapest they could find and didn't even bother to clean after they defrosted them. Next up- the pad thai. I ordered shrimp pad Thai, after the disgusting spring rolls, I figured I'd just pick those out but I also happened to come across chunks of tofu, not even cooked, just soggy, mushy bean curds. The only veggies in it were raw carrots, not even stir fried and a sauce that was basically just salt, no flavor whatsoever. One bite. That's all I could stomach. I asked my boyfriend to try it and tell me if that was the worst pad Thai he's ever tried- congrats, Pho New Leaf, you get 2 votes for most disgusting pad thai on earth. I doubt the cooks are even Thai, given they didn't even add peanuts, limes or bean sprouts, all standards to the traditional dish. The entire thing was just disgusting beyond words. Went for the Pho. Had never been. The Pho was absolutely bland. Very tasteless broth. Very, very small portion of bean sprouts and Thai basil, about half amount that is given at other establishments. The service was prompt and friendly but did not check in on us one time and did not offer chopsticks. I had to poke my head in the kitchen to request the bill and after I paid the bill I heard the waitress apologize to a coworker in the back about leaving their conversation to run my card. read more

Decided to give this place a try and we were pleasantly surprised. The portion sizes are great and the menu variety is wonderful for a family who can't decide between Vietnamese, Chinese, or Thai food for dinner. Everything we ordered was delicious! This is purely on the Pho review. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I was so disappointed. Little to no flavor.

1st time ordering here and the food was spot on. I ordered the Grilled Beef Banh Mi which was served with cucumber, green onion, pickled carrots, mayonnaise, cilantro, and jalapeños. It came with dipping broth to dip your sandwich. So good... Next time we will order the Beef Fried Rice and Pad Thai. read more

New is not always better. On February 1st, my husband and I decided to pop into Phoenix Orchard for Chinese food before we went shopping. We did not know that the restaurant had been closed for a week while they made some changes, to reopen on the 1st under new management, with a new menu. I had posted a review the day after, but it was very negative, so I deleted it and decided to give myself a few days to see if I could find anything more positive to say. I can't, but I'll try to at least be a little less frustrated, since a good portion of my negative review was based on the changes they had made, and I wanted my review to be more about the food. When we walked in and sat down, the waitress immediately came to us to give us menus and to take a drink order. We only wanted water, and she did bring it quickly. She was happy, helpful, energetic to the point of near manic - but once she told us it was her first day, we figured it was nerves. Overall, she was the best part of our time there. The menu we were given was a placemat size menu, and rather than being Chinese entrees, it's now Asian Fusion. To us it was a bit of a disjointed selection of Thai, Vietnamese, Chinese, etc. We had a couple of questions to ask about a couple of dishes, each time the server had to run to the kitchen to ask. I know it was her first day, but the menu isn't a big one, learn the menu at least a little bit before starting your shift. We ordered Crab Rangoons for an appetizer. My husband ordered one of the 6 or 7 Chinese options, General Tso's Chicken. I asked for Chicken Phad Thai. They did not have the ingredients on hand to make it. Um . . . it's your first day and you don't have the ingredients? Fine, I decided to try the Pork Bahn Mi that came with a side of sweet potato fries. I can't have white potatoes, so this was nice to see as an option. Maybe this meal could be salvaged. Or maybe not. The Crab Rangoons were not bad. They were folded up in a very unique way, sort of like a flat pocket or envelope. The sweet and sour sauce was nice too - it wasn't the overly red dyed sauce. It was pale pink which felt like it had less chemicals. That could be just in my mind, but it was good, had a mild flavor and didn't overwhelm the food with too much sweet. My husband's General Tso's came out quite a bit before my sandwich. It was hot when it came out, but he was trying to wait for me, so we tasted his while we waited, and it was actually quite good. The breading was very crispy, the flavor of the sauce was good . . . but seriously that is all he got. He had a serving that MIGHT have qualified for a lunch portion with 4 springs of limp steamed broccoli. No rice. No soup. No salad. Just breaded chicken with sauce and the broccoli. He was really hungry when we went in, he was still hungry when we left. My sandwich came and instead of my sweet potato fries, it had white potatoes. The server raced to the kitchen to tell them of the mistake, my husband helped take the edge off of his hunger by eating my dry, unsalted, no sauce brought with them, fries. My sweet potato fries came out not even 4 minutes later, dipped in hot oil, not hot all the way through, extremely greasy and hanging limp. They could have actually COOKED them, but maybe I'm being picky. Again, no salt, no sauce. At this point I was getting frustrated. Now onto my Bahn Mi. I was wondering if they have ever HAD a Bahn Mi? I love a good Bahn Mi sandwich, love them. They are full of flavor, delicious to the last bite and the great ones make you dream of getting another. This was not that. At all. The bread was good, like a fresh French roll anywhere would be. A traditional Bahn Mi has pate on it. Usually I am not a huge pate fan, but it lends a certain rich, creaminess to the sandwich that was missing. If they weren't going to use pate, a mayo-based sauce would have been a decent substitute. No sauce though. Dry. The pork was passable, in that it wasn't charred, but it was dry, and there MIGHT have been 2 ounces, though that is a bit generous. There were the traditional pickled vegetables on it, and you can't really go wrong with those. They were the best part of the sandwich. Topping the meat and vegetables were HUGE slices of jalapeno that I had to pick out before I started to eat it, or I would have been wheezing from the heat. We sat there, empty plates, slightly queasy from the grease, and still hungry, waiting for our check, which came without even the traditional fortune cookies that we all expect to get at the end of ANY Asian meal, no matter which region it is from. Bottom line, we won't go back. The food isn't anywhere near worth what you pay for it. In my opinion you should NOT walk out of a restaurant hungry after paying nearly $40.00 for a meal. read more

I do not typically review restaurants, as someone in the food industry, I understand there are off days, substitute chefs, etc. But my experience here was so terrible, I felt I had to share. I ordered spring rolls, the ones typically wrapped in a fresh rice paper sheet and containing flavorful items along with the protein. These were fresh lettuce leaves, wrapped around some noodles and a basil leaf, with the protein stuck to the outside. No flavor. Nothing like the amazing ones served at Tamarind Tree in Seattle. My main was the Cilantro Chicken, one of the spicy dishes. My dish was at least a dozen hot dried red peppers, whole peppercorns, some cilantro that totally lacked flavor, and some flaccid pieces of chicken breast. The only flavor was the heat - totally lacking in salt or any flavor. And to top it all off, there is a sign on the door REQUIRING face masks (a good thing) but members of the staff were unmasked. When I inquired with the young man taking my money, he shrugged and said, "  I am vaccinated. " Well, that is not the litmus test, and for all I know, he is an Aaron Rodgers wannabe and was " immunized "  not vaccinated.
