blandest Singapore noodles I've ever had. They tasted a little salty, but that was it. No spice, no curry, no heat, no taste. The mushrooms were a nice surprise (why not!), but the rest of the veggies (large chunks of broccoli & cauliflower) were so hard and undercooked that I could not eat them. They were heated up but still raw. Other guests tried the vermicelli noodle bowl (ok, but you can get better next door at their competitors) and some Japanese sauteed noodles. Had some amazing Banh Mi Beef sandwich that my daughter and I split. We also had our own small bowls of chicken Phò. The small was more like a large bowl. Everything was delicious!! On a cold and rainy day, we decided a hot bowl of Pho would be nice. Pho Kimchi is tucked back away from the main street in Poulsbo, with plenty of parking and seating. We were greeted and sat right away, the staff was busy but friendly and took our order pretty quickly. The Chicken Katsu Curry was delicious- not too spicy, huge portion! Bahn Mi can be made anyway you like, ours was with a fried egg and cheese. Again-it is big enough to share, with lots of fresh veggies on it. My Chicken Pho was just OK-not a lot of flavor, very clear broth, almost like hot water. Again- I ordered a small serving, and had enough to take home. Definitely try the Thai Iced Tea-great blend of spices, and its sealed in plastic so you could order it to go. Overall it was good food, a bit pricey, very casual atmosphere (had portable heaters on because it was cold in there), but disappointed in the Pho itself. read more

I moved to Washington from San Diego, CA for a little over 2 years now and I've yet to find an Authentic Vietnamese Pho place... until I FINALLY stumbled upon this hidden gem called Pho Kim Chi. This place is located in Poulsbo, WA and it's the BEST PHO I've had in the entire PNW. (This is coming from someone who was born in Vietnam and raised in a heavily dense Vietnamese community in California). Not going to lie, I was disappointed by other pho places in Seattle. How they attempted to "Americanize" this amazing dish by toning down the broth, turning pho into an unnecessary bougie soup, and/or adding straight up weird ingredients to the bowl (ie: hot Cheetos, French fries) Like what?! Common, straight up disrespect. Okay back to Kimchi Pho, BEST PHO IN TOWN I SWEAR!!! The broth is legit. It taste like they've spent at least 8 hours or more cooking the broth. Some places might say they do, but I know it when I taste it -- and Pho Kim Chi satisfies all the taste buds. Lastly, when I heard the kitchen staff speak Vietnamese to each other, I almost cried. I haven't heard my native language in this town in a freaking long time. Wrapping this essay up, if you're getting "pho" to feed your social media, go else where. I ordered take out bacon fried rice and it was excellent!! The amount is very generous. It was steaming hot and ready when I arrived with tons of fried bacon. It had green onions, bits of fried egg and very little soy sauce which was nice. Another thing is that I do not like peas and carrots in my fried rice. They do not put that in! I will definitely come back and suggest you try it the next time you come! The staff is quite friendly while greeting you, and the restaurant has a very nice ambiance. This used to be my absolute favorite place to eat-- I'd dine in or take out at least once or twice a week. I was away for a bit and I'm almost positive they've changed hands. Not only is the food tasteless and of low quality, but the service has also tanked. Tonight they screwed up my takeout order and when I called they told me unless I 40-minutes back to show her they'd put deadly shrimp in my meal rather than the chicken I'd ordered, she was not going to refund me or comp me a meal on my next visit. I want to call back and tell her it doesn't matter anyway....the rest of the food was short of revolting-literally. I should have known-- I was actually giving them a second chance after taking nine friends from out of town there this past summer for a sit-down meal after having raved about the place. I saw that not one of them finished their food and I was mortified. I can't explain how good it used to be. Now, there is ZERO flavor, their crispy tofu is rubbery and tasteless just like everything else. It's actually gross. Do they think no one will notice that they upped the prices by about 25 percent (which I understand) and cut the quality by 100 percent? I give it another year, this place will close because Kitsap County residents know quality-- especially since Pho T&N is only a few doors down. read more

When I am visiting my parents in Poulsbo I always like to try out the restaurants and help them branch out to try new cuisine. I had been wanting to try this place out for awhile but for some reason I had only ever visited Pho T&N while in town. Big mistake! I think Pho Kimchi is by far the best Pho in town. I ventured here on a very rainy Saturday and there were very few customers (which was good for me because of the tiny parking lot). I ordered a large steak and brisket pho which was reasonably priced for the area ($9.95). They also had a great assortment of other items on the menu I would love to try if I can come back. Especially their boba and banh mi. My pho came piping hot and I immediately tried the broth. While it wasn't my favorite base broth for Pho, I did think it was better than the competition (Pho T&N). After adding my sriracha and chili paste and lime juice, basil and jalapeños the broth was that perfect blend of spicy, acid, meatiness that I love. I usually call and order. I decided to dine in and have some tofu and vegetable pho. With a side dish of a vegetable and tofu spring roll. Everything was great! I have eaten here numerous times and was my favorite place to eat. They now will not seat you if its after 8:30 you can only take it to go. I've been turned away now twice and feel if they are open they should set you. The high school girl with glasses working there is the one to turn you away and I've seen her making out with her boyfriend in one of the booths, not what I want to see when I'm out to eat. I got Pad Thai with no spice and the waitress came out and said "I forgot to tell the kitchen no spice so it's spicy". The pad thai had zero taste and the tofu was burnt. But we went 2 hours before closing and was distracted as they were putting a majority of their chairs on top of the tables to clean early. That's very early! The pho broth was bland and the seafood seemed very cheap/frozen (at least the mint leaves, sprouts and jalapeños were fresh) #basic. The chicken curry katsu was a decent dish. Asked for zero spicy and still got spicy. Some pieces of chicken were dry and chewy like jerky (15% of the portion). The salad it came with was good though! The pad Thai flavoring was a little off and could only down 1/4 of it. I can normally eat a lot!!!!! I love food! But definitely don't have a love for this place. Restaurant appeared to be clean.
