    Togarashi Calamari
    Ashley C.

Did a little Yelp search for Calamari and decided to give this spot a try. A small quaint restaurant in the Stadium district in Tacoma. The dim lighting gave a more intimate dining experience. At 7 pm, the restaurant wasn't too busy. A handful of diners and a handful of to-go orders were ready as the workers were slowly wrapping up for the night. I shared a togarashi calamari, salt & pepper tofu, and pad see ew. The calamari had a unique flavor profile with the togarashi dipping sauce. I enjoyed the portion size of the calamari. The salt and pepper tofu had a light breading with a nice crunch. Lastly, the pad see ew was not my favorite. It kind of raised red flags when there is no question on how spicy the you want the noodles. The overall taste of the pad see ew was bland and chili oil didn't help the dish much. The restaurant was cute with a variety of different Asian dishes. The price tag was a little high for my preference. I might come back if I had friends that couldn't decide on a type of food or just wanted to share appetizers.

I definitely recommend this place to anyone living in PNW or Tacoma area! When I first moved here I was looking for an Asian fusion restaurant and this place caught my eye driving thru Tacoma and it became my #1 go to place in Tacoma close by UWT & Point Ruston! When I completed my service in the Army at JBLM, my unit reserved a party for me here! The best memories to end off with at my favorite restaurant! My go to favorite dish is the Fried Calamari dish!!!!

food was goooood, especially that pork belly. got to get that! The Thai chicken curry was also of quality, but not much rice given :( maybe it is their way of making more money, though lolol nonetheless, it made for a really good meal when I was at work because filling and not overwhelmingly spicy for the level of 2 out of 4. what impressed me the most was the service. They put my leftovers away in the takeout box while I handled the bill. The waiter took initiative, which I rarely see at restaurants. I also had my water topped off at all times because the attentiveness from other staff to change the serving water bottle. quickly got seated within like 3 minutes, too I loved the intimate dim lighting at this restaurant. it was one where you could still take a nice photo, as you can see below. I liked that there were dark brown and shiny wooden tables with booths and chairs available. I just wish that there was more going on with the decorations because it felt a bit underwhelming? The lighting was good, but nothing stood out to me with decorations :/ hm be good at parallel parking because side street is all they got. watch for your belongings in the car...put everything in the trunk, if you can.

No-brainer... 5 Stars! Indo Asian Street Eatery is a gem! Our server Thien was incredible!!!Super attentive and even noticed it was my birthday just by looking at my ID. Talk about attention to detail! The drinks (Imperial Coconut and First Bloom) were gorgeous and tasty. As for the food, the Salt & Pepper Tofu, Calamari, and Crispy Garlic Chicken were all hits. The portions are huge, so you definitely get your money's worth. The highlight was Thien offering a complimentary birthday treat at the end of the meal. It really made my day! The vibe is clean and aesthetically pleasing, and the service is top-notch. Yes, there's a 4% card surcharge, but for an experience this good, I didn't mind at all. We'll definitely be back!

lol my papaya salad came with a side of siracha and chili oil who it's papaya salad like this?!?

Not really authentic "Thai food " receptionist does not know what Lao papaya salad is, i inquire 6 star spicy she said she will put "sauce" on the side which papaya salad does not have a sauce, it was a bit strange. Inquired if this Thai store is authentic she said her kitchen staff "are from there" probably not coming back here to look for "authentic" Thai dishes, lack of "street food" knowledge and title does not appear as it advertised, pretty disappointing can not accommodate the ask of having the 20 dollar dish to 6 star very Americanize worst Thai restaurant in Tacoma. As an Asian and strong believer in culture and authenticity this restaurant strongly lacks. My papaya salad oddly came with a side of siracha and chili oil, they had dump a bunch of chili flakes on top without mixing, the papaya salad taste like water and lime juice ...yikes never again will I come back yuk have to throw the rest out it taste like water and lime juice not authentic or quality at all wish I can give .5 star rating

First time in on a Thursday evening to eat something on our way to somewhere else. Our server was wonderful, super sweet and helpful about making a drink recommendation. And he was right on the mark, Indo makes a really nice old fashioned with an anise syrup that's sweet and fragrant with licorice. The curry chicken and peanut sauce was also very good -- plentifully stuffed with fresh salad greens and jalapenos and a delicate, not spicy curry sauce. Indo is a great spot for a simple filling Vietnamese meal and a delicious cocktail. Plus they've got a cozy fireplace that you can sit around which makes for a nice romantic vibe in a cold night.

We live close to Seattle and would absolutely make a special trip to Tacoma just to eat at this restaurant! Everything we ordered was amazing and the service so friendly. Cute and cozy space, perfect for a date or meeting up with friends. Must get the Papaya Salad Khao Soi as well as the mango sticky rice dessert.

IASE was an okay place for me. The chicken was very tender and juicy. portions was okay! But pricing for what the dish was, was a miss for me. Service was fast because I came in on a Wednesday afternoon. The flags and fireplace ambiance was super inviting and warm!!!!

    How is parking?

Parking is not too bad at all! There are a lot of back in street parking spots nearby.

Is this good for large groups?

Possibly, but it is a small place!

I have some family coming into town and they are gluten free. Does this restaurant have any gluten free options? They know it's difficult. Thanks!

Yes, many gluten free options! Many dishes can also be made gluten free that are not listed.

But then we looked cross the street on 1st, where there used to be an Anthem, and even though it was already 6pm, this sandwich shop was still open and...there was a BINGO game happening. Whaddya know? So we took a peak in and they were not only serving sandwiches but they also had a cooler full of microbrews and kombuchas, beer on tap, wine, and a whole list of cocktails made from prosecco and other non-hard liquors like Amaro. Truly something for everyone. So we gave our order to the sweet human at the counter and took our seats I'm not kidding, my Amaro sour was one of the best cocktails I've had in a while in Tacoma and so were the pretzel sticks. I want my cocktails cold, tart, and refreshing with a little kick of funk or herbs and I want my pretzels salty. You wouldn't think that's such a high bar to clear but you'd be surprised. Sandwich Starr nailed it. Our Zatan sandwich was tasty but even though the bread felt a little stale. Otherwise the decor is kinda '90s coffee house and they've got bingo! Some differences that I noticed is that the outdoor seating is just a few tables and chairs outside so you can enjoy your meal outside and they do have dog water bowls out too! The other difference is that dogs are also welcomed inside! I told this when I received my order and I was chatting with the two employees at the counter. I'm a big fan of breweries, especially those with several drinks on draught or tap, and if they're really good, I'll buy them in a bottle. However, I read their review and noticed that they had vegan and vegetarian options, so I thought, "You know what? That's a combination I can't resist. Beers with a delicious sandwich!" A few days later, I made plans to visit on Saturday, which happened to be one of the two days this year that it snowed in the Pirec. It was quite amusing with the parking and the snow that stuck everywhere. As soon as I walked in, the bar was buzzing with energy. It had a great vibe. I didn't think I'd get any seats, but I managed to snag one at the bar with a very friendly person. I spent all but about 3 to 4 hours there. The sandwich I ordered was called the Rainier, and it was mentioned in the review, but the name wasn't revealed. It consists of a field roast loaf, Chao vegan cheese, herbed vegan mayonnaise, tomato, red onion, and arugula on sourdough bread. I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise, even if it's vegan, so I swapped it out with some pesto-style creamy cheese, and it turned out even better than I expected. The sandwich was a perfect five out of five. I would definitely order it every time I come. It came with a side of chips, which was a great addition. The sandwich was massive, so I could only eat half of it. I took the other half home for the next day. For my beers, I'm a big stout-and-porter guy, so I went with the Fort George's. They had two options: the Salted Caramel Cavatica & Matryoshka Vanilla. Both were exceptionally flavorful and probably my favorite porters I've had in all of Washington and many other states. Unfortunately, they ran out of the Salted Caramel Cavatica, so I ended up drinking the Matryoshka Vanilla for the rest of the night and didn't mind at all. Overall, I had a fantastic time at this place. I'm definitely going to make it a regular stop in my monthly rotations around Tacoma. Highly recommend stopping by this place. It's definitely a five.
