I'm glad they warned us about this only I was hoping to pick up dinner for my family, and unfortunately I didn't get any tamales at all. I imagine with Covid some vendors thought the attendance would be low, but a lot of people showed up. The most disappointing part was paying $20 to get in, only to get no tamales. I wish the Riverside Tamale Festival had free admission like they do in La Habra, Indio, Placentia and DTSA (Downtown Santa Ana) at their tamale festivals.

The parade includes fine gentlemen and ladies, a chimney sweep, a properly-kilted Scotsman playing his bagpipes, and another Scotsman that has to be at least 10 feet tall. Too bad they only do it one weekend each year. You will discover well-delivered lectures by 19th Century impersonators of notable people (such as Dickens, Van Gough, Emily Dickens for starters), imaginatively anachronistic storytellers (you cannot miss the zany Professor Peanut!), poetry lovers, and a wonderful collection of musicians. The Promenade in downtown Riverside, once known as Main St., is actually no longer a street at all. Instead, you will find a broad, public walkway lined with small and medium sized storefronts, graceful shade trees, benches to stop and breathe a spell, special water features, sculptures, and entertainment. The eye-catching historic Mission Inn, a glorious testament to old California architecture, is located about a block down from this delightful activity. This is all part of a permanent Downtown City of Riverside transformation. But during the festival, the walkway is infused with food vendors and retail booths, street entertainers, and strategically positioned stages scheduled with well-organized programs, so there is never a dull moment. Very ADA compliant, you will find little something for everyone...even friendly vibes if you wish to bring the family dog. For the kids (of the human variety), there was a goat petting tent. But later, we saw their appropriately 19th Century-garbed caretakers rambling down the promenade, mingling with the crowds. There are an eclectic list of street musicians to amuse, a Punch and Judy puppet theater to captivate your inner-child, and other regularly scheduled events (indoors and out, some free, some requiring tickets). The point is, slow down, allow yourself to be distracted, and absorb the full experience. Don't feel intimidated that this is only for the artsy types; costumes are fun but not necessary to have delightful memories. So, whatever your preference, come one, come all. Best of all, with the exception of having to pay for parking (in one of several large parking structures nearby), there is no entrance fee. The festival is active during daylight hours only.

It was probably the worst halloween event i've EVER been too!!! All of the actors were children 6 to...i dont know like 14 maybe?! I felt extremely uncomfortable considering they were just kids from the local high school and the parents.. also very strange considering they are not paid to be doing this almost every night. The makeup was HORRENDOUS it looked like dollar tree quality makeup; IF THERE ARE ADULTS going to your event atleast hire adults or hire a better sfx team. Especially adults who are paying $40 for your event. Not to mention their instagram shares posts of the child actors and describes them in CREEPY WAYS; calling them "gorgeous" etc. like?! I'm shocked. Never coming here again complete waste of money. As someone who never complains this really upset me and I truly hope you guys stop ripping people off.

I love it so! It was full of lights! It was magical. The lobby was all decorated with trees and Santa's toy shop. On the balconies of the inn, they had decorative animated figures. They look like they were singing Christmas carols. I love coming here but I do not love the parking situation or how crowded it is. I took off one point for the parking situation. I feel there should be more signs directing you to the paid parking lot. I took off one star for this.

One of the highlights was the small circus-style show featuring bikes and motorcycles, which was entertaining and added a unique touch. The acrobat portion was fairly short and ended up being my least favorite part of the event. The lighting and visual effects were absolutely amazing. There seemed to be a blend of Alice in Wonderland and The Wizard of Oz themes throughout the experience. While the visuals were beautiful, I think it would have been even better if they had fully committed to one theme rather than mixing elements together. My favorite part was exploring the many small rooms scattered throughout the venue. Each room was decorated differently, and it was a lot of fun discovering all the creative details and designs. I do hope that future versions stay more consistent with the chosen theme instead of sprinkling in random figurines that don't quite fit. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, and I'd happily return next year to see what they create next.

They offer some great deals for local residents as well as on weeknights. We stopped by here the other night after my birthday dinner. It was a little chilly and windy, but there were so many cool things to see and do here. Talk about a plethora of options for photo ops and selfies! The Wizard of Oz theme is cool. There's a couple rooms that don't seem to follow the theme, which helps mix it up a bit. There's also a "circus" which looks like a lot of BMX and dirt bikes. We heard it and saw some of the performance, but it's a very small area of the attraction, so we were more interested in everything else. We ended up staying here almost two hours and they were getting ready to close. This is definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something fun and different to do in the area.

There are altars set up in White Park. Food vendors are closer to 14th Street. There is also lucha libre in the middle of the street. Loads of fun during this two-day event. Arrive early to obtain free street parking around the neighborhoods.

It's a huge celebration of dia de Los muertos. Extravagant face painting and dress attire worn by performers. Lots of food and clothing vendors lining the street. Live music, dancing and wrestling. Only one vendor "Roasted Corn" @cali_corn_roasters posted their menu prices for customers. I wish others could follow in their footsteps. Local businesses are also open during the event. Several parking garages available for $15 per car. Sidewalk parking is free if you're able to find one.
