I travel a lot for my job, and I usually ask for recommendations on great local spots. This place came highly recommended, I am so disappointed in the food quality. The ribs were over cooked not tender, the fall off the bone was because the meat gave up the fight. The 1/2 slab was more of a 1/4 and over cooked to the point of being crispy. The mac and cheese tasted spoiled and overcooked. I can't understand how they are in business with the attitudes and insane prices for burnt and over cooked food. When I asked if they could give me some less burnt meat they laughed and walked away. Save your time and money, there are far better established BBQ places. read more

Unfortunately, the food didn't match the quality of the service. I ordered a 1/2 slab of beef ribs for about $45 before tax. They *looked* perfectly seasoned, but the flavor just wasn't there. It honestly tasted like pepper seasoning was thrown on after cooking. The biggest disappointment was the texture, the meat was extremely tough, easily the toughest ribs I've ever had. This restaurant is small but cute, it gives family vibes. The staff is very helpful, kind and funny. I ordered the fried shrimp with extra fries. My shrimp was crispy the way I like them and seasoned really well. The food is cooked upon your order so it'll take some time for your food to come out but I'm sure you'd rather your food be fresh and delicious than quick and nasty. I had high hopes for this place . I have always heard about how good grams bbq is and how I have to try it . After the catacombs tour at mission inn me and my boyfriend wanted to grab a bite to eat so we decided here . When you first walk in its smells good and you can smell the bbq cooking In the back . But after that it goes downhill . The girl working the front was having to go back and forth from the front to the back but she handled everything well and was friendly . We decided on the ribs and we got the mac and cheese , baked beans , yams and some cornbread . All together it came out to 50 dollars and sadly it wasn't worth it . The ribs were good and had good flavor but they were extremely hard to chew . The Mac and cheese was lacking in flavor and left a lot to be desired . The yams were way too sweet it was inedible as the same with the baked beans. The catfish was good and had good seasoning to it . The cornbread muffin was extremely dry and it was hard to eat . Everything was full of flavor, but the highlight of the meal was the fried green tomatoes. They were crispy, tangy and everyone at the table loved them. It's a small place and it was packed with people, but the wait was worth it. The food tasted like true comfort food made with care and the service was warm and attentive. It's almost new year we came here to see Mission Inn hotel Christmas lights and decorations... This place not too big but they have enough space for big group! We are 7 people and they able accommodate us. I visited last night. I got the catfish meal with greens and Mac n cheese. I can't eat very much at one time... my friend and I were also playing a card game at the table. We were visiting from San Jose while taking a tour of UC Riverside. Gram's is downtown and was very close to our hotel. We left it up to our son to pick a place for dinner, but in all honesty, my wife and I had already walked by and were dying to check it out. We were not disappointed. Between the 3 of us, we had pork ribs, pulled pork, and brisket. The ribs were dry rubbed, giving you the choice of "to sauce or not to sauce." They were delicious and tender as-us, no sauce required. The pulled pork cane in a boat with lots of juice. We had a good selection of meat, bark, and just enough fat to keep it juicy. The brisket was sliced thicker than one would expect, but it sliced nicely and tasted fantastic. The bark had a bit of sweetness to it, I'm guessing a little brown sugar. The sides were fantastic and the portions were large! Beans had a tangy BBQ flavor with some onion and meat in it. The potato salad was terrific as well. My son is a Mac n cheese expert, and he said it was one of the best. Gram's is a family run place, with the pit master being Gram's grandson. He came out to check on us to make sure we were happy. The manager or hostess maybe, I think she said her name was Anita, was also very happy to see us and took great care of us. She is a long time friend of the family there. Customer service was pleasant and the lady at cash register was accommodating and polite, Food wise....the "Red" kool add was the bomb...nostalgic and pleasantly flavorful. collard Greens were fantastic in taste...you could tell they were simmered rather than being fast cooked....but....they don,t take the time to cut the green middle stem off the leaf...diminishes the quality. The ribs are flavorful...but do not have the "tendernism " where the meat does not fall off the bone. They do have bark and good seasoning though. Plenty of food for a lunch break.... read more
