Yikes what a disappointment. I have to throw it all out. Both my daughter and I agree this is the worst chicken pad Thai we've ever purchased. First, I ordered take out and it was estimated to be ready between 5:30 and 5:40 and it wasn't ready until after 6 pm. So I waited in a freezing cold restaurant. I mean freezing. Clearly no heat was on and the couple cooking were wearing coats. The pad Thai is not made with Thai noodles and does not taste remotely like pad Thai. Every bite is full of onion - to the point that I knew I'd feel ill if I ate much of it. The spring roll, an app I typically order for the freshness of it, was greasy and tasted of bacon. And the scallion pancakes were also greasy and a huge disappointment . So I threw out $29 worth of food tonight. Hope I saved someone the same misfortune. read more

The takeout service was very busy due to the coronavirus pandemic restrictions. However I did receive quick service to my online request. I only ordered pork fried rice and chicken broccoli but they were both tasty and very well prepared. I would definitely order from the Lilac Blossom again. read more

Friendly staff that goes out of their way to make your experience great. They are very accommodating with regards to adjusting your meal to your tastes and/or needs. They even made Pad Thai without fish sauce for me! The food always tastes fresh, and you are able to watch it as it's cooked in the kitchen area. They even made us new, fresh spring rolls when we were delayed in picking up our order one evening, rather than just reheating them in the microwave or some other method that would compromise the quality. When we lived in the area, we were regular customers and really enjoyed this place :) We have yet to find a reliable Chinese takeout place in Cleveland, OH and miss Lilac Blossom! read more

I stopped at Lilac Blossom for lunch takeout recently. Formerly China Wok, this Chinese takeout restaurant was redone, decorated nicely and very clean. The place is order at the counter with open kitchen and there are a couple of tables for eating in. Looking through the Lunch Specials ($5.95-$6.50 plus tax), which are served until 2:30 PM, I decided on the Shrimp With Cashews ($6.50 plus tax) served with Vegetable Fried Rice and Soup (I chose Hot & Sour). The food was cooked fresh to order and was ready to go in under 10 minutes. The portion of food was just right for lunch, shrimp entree & fried rice packed in a plastic compartment container and the soup in a plastic pint container. The main entree had plenty of soft shrimp (clean) with celery, onions, & cashews. The vegetable fried rice was really fresh, which had a mix of soft fried rice, green peppers, carrots, onions, and bits of baby corn. The hot & sour soup was not spicy and had mix of vegetables, egg, tofu, fungi, and mushrooms. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with my lunch, which tasted good and cooked fresh. I like this place because they are close to home and they offer delivery. The delivery times were very different each time i tried it, but the food quality was consistent. The price range is affordable which I'm always a big fan of. I really like the beef with broccoli, but after trying multiple orders i think that is the only menu item i genuinely enjoyed. my spouse likes the sesame chicken, chicken fried rice and steamed dumplings. I was not thrilled with the steamed dumplings or the wonton soup. read more

The people behind the counter were nice, so I am giving this 2 stars instead of 1. But my the food was just bad. My guess is that maybe the cook quit and the owner is cooking? Got food that I was disappointed to be paying for. I'm not usually a reviewer but this was so bad I had to log in to save someone else the waste of money. Got Pad Thai with chicken. Just yucky and gloppy. I had to force myself to eat the chicken. Ingredients were all a little off. Also got fried rice that seemed like it came out of the frozen food section. Dry dry dry. This place absolutely rocks! My office normally orders every week, they await our order like clockwork. Deliveries are a snappy 25 minutes or so. The food is absolutely gourmet and doesn't even really deserve to be compared to what you'd normally find in delivered Chinese - this is more restaurant quality stuff. I'd say our office favorites are the Pad Thai, Sesame Chicken, Crab Ragoons, General Tso's and Kung Pao. If you'd like something cooked a certain way, or have a hankering for something missing on their ever expanding menu - just ask! This is usually our go to Chinese place since they opened a few years ago. Hands down best pork fried rice all over the capital region. They've had some inconsistencies on some items such as their general tso-shrimp. It used to be a nice thin batter but has turned into a heavy batter that's almost inedible. 1/14/17 Totally different. Certainly not good delivery food. The quality here is gone. They didn't understand my wife on the phone, and the goop they delivered, wasn't what we ordered. We love this place! Great service, reasonable prices, quick delivery, and REALLY FLAVORFUL FOOD. Every time we order, we get the Chicken in Spicy Tea sauce, which we ordered having never even heard of the dish. That spontaneous decision was EXTREMELY lucky because now it is our favorite. This place used to be really really good. Alas, it is now terrible. The last two times we have ordered have gone like this: 1. Told it would be thirty minutes, waited until an hour and started calling. After multiple calls, the food finally arrived (90 minutes). 2. Told it would be 45 minutes. Waited an hour and a half and after multiple calls where we were told it was on its way we had to cancel the order. Additionally, the food quality has dropped significantly. I went to Lilac Blossom after reading all the great reviews and wasn't that impressed. Perhaps it was an off night, I ordered on a Thursday around 8:00 PM for pick up. I ordered my standard pint (small) pork lo mein. I was running errands and I called from the Wal-Mart parking lot in Guilderland and then went right over to the restaurant. I got there maybe 5 minutes after I called it in so I wasn't expecting it to be ready and just wanted to wait inside. I walked in and there was no one around. I waited for a few minutes and a woman approached me. I told her I just called in an order for pick up so it's probably not ready. She confirmed my order and it was sitting on the counter ready. Literally it took me no more than 5 minutes to get there so I know it wasn't made fresh. When I got home I was really excited about it because I read all the good reviews. To be honest it was typical lo mein. I ordered pork but it looked and tasted like chicken lo mein instead but that's okay. I like both and it was late so it wasn't a big deal. But I wasn't wowed at all, it was just okay. The best lo mein I have had in the area remains to be at P.F. Changs. But for a little more than $5 it was passable just nothing special. The half chocolate fortune cookie was a nice change but the fortune was stranger than normal. read more

While they made every attempt to accommodate our lunch order, it really ended up to be quite the disappointment. The positive comment I can make is that the orders were all completed 100% accurately. I was surprised by this because the exchanges had with the restaurant were really difficult because of the language barrier. We ordered online and paid but the gentleman who delivered the food had no idea what I was trying to say to him and insisted that I give him cash despite the fact that the invoice that came with the food clearly stated - do not charge upon delivery - already paid. I did so without any argument and called my credit card company and had them cancel the transaction. No harm, no foul. Now to the bad part- The food was horrible. Let's see....undercooked, mushy, greasy, salty, and bland were among the feedback. This is my second time eating here. The first time it wasn't really that good at least in my opinion. The lo mein was soupy, the dumplings weren't good, and that was that. But the second time completely made up for it. The general tsos chicken was crispy, the boneless spare ribs were flavorful, and the fried wontons were awesome. This is my new standby. read more

Pleasantly surprised by this unassuming take-out restaurant in a little strip mall on Western. We ordered one of their Chinese dishes (moo shoo pork) and one of their Thai dishes (Red curry with chicken) and both were delicious! It can be hard to find really good Chinese take-out around here. This looks like a typical Chinese take-out, but don't be deceived! Based on my experience so far, I think this might be some of the best Chinese food in the capital region. I recommend trying the Chef's signature dishes or chef's recommendations to take advantage of their more unusual offerings. I particularly liked the chicken with mala sauce. I had never heard of this, but its a brown spicy sauce with Szechaun peppercorns. Highly recommended! read more

This is by far the best Chinese food in the capital region right now. They call it gourmet Asian and it doesn't disappoint! It was recommended by a friend of mine and as soon as I tasted the food I was hooked. The food is incredibly fresh and the sauces are so tasty. I have ordered any different things on the menu including boneless spare ribs, won ton soup, hot and sour soup, chicken with black bean sauce, pork chow fun, dumplings ( both fried and Szechuan), general Tao chicken, and more. The egg rolls are fantastic and they actually make their own duck sauce and mustard. Wow! Today I tried the Tom yum soup and it was amazing! I have to say everything is excellent and I recommend Lilac Blossom to anyone looking for real fresh and extremely tasty Chinese food! Delicious!! We cleaned our plates. My husband had the House Special MuShoo which has great tender crisp veggies and grilled meat. I had my favorite - steamed ginger chicken with green beans - tender crisp beans, slivers of ginger with steamed chicken for a very healthy and wonderfully flavorful entree. The sweet and sour sauce had the consistency of water, the chicken was absolutely tasteless except for the wreaking taste of dirty fryer oil it tasted like it hadn't been changed in over a month. The crab Ragoons were absolutely awful and atrocious the lo mein had a smell of fish? Not sure why that was however it did and a thing of metal. All I can say is very very very very very angry disappointed sad and confused. I will not be returning and I would advise you to not waste your money time or effort on this disappointment of a "restaurant". The floor inside looks like it had not been swept in three weeks maybe even a month. How disgusting is that. There was only one man behind the counter and that man made me a very bad dinner. Was so excited to try it out because of all of the reviews, and have ordered twice so far. The food was good, but the delivery service was terrible. I placed an order at 4pm and was told the earliest it would arrive was by 5pm because that is when the driver was on, food did't arrive until a little after 6pm and I had to run out of my office to get it because the driver couldn't find the right building. When I tried to pay and leave, he kept talking to me, insisting I talk to someone he struck up a conversation with- while I was on a shift. Just ordered tonight and after being told my order would arrive around 815pm, the driver calls me asking me for directions and complaining that this was the most irritating delivery he's ever made- because he went to the wrong street! read more

A huge disappointment! My husband and I ate here about a year ago and it was excellent! Our meals tonight were almost inedible. The spring rolls were very greasy. The hot & sour soup tasted like spicy dishwater -- had absolutely NO flavor. My house special mai fun was very visually u appealing -- everything was off white -- even the pork --it looked boiled (yuk!). My husbands pad Thai was the only edible dish and it wasn't even as good as average. Also another visual flop -- it was all brown. $38 down the drain.
