Half and half (4) Epochal Maple Cognac (4) Honey Mustard Bourbon w/ Sesame Seeds

Large establishment for seating. Great music and nice tvs to watch sports. The staff was friendly and attentive on a Friday early afternoon. I ordered the Epochal Maple Cognac and Honey Mustard Bourbon w/ Sesame Seeds. The server allowed me to do half and half. Paired, I ordered some truffle fries. The large wings bone in were LARGE. Like almost scary large. The flavor on the cognac wings really tasted like the liquor - so it packed a punch. The bourbon ones were sweeter. I enjoyed the flavors of each nonetheless. The truffle fries had a ton of truffle Parmesan on them. They did not skimp. I felt my food was freshly cooked for me and I didn't have to wait long. I wasn't a fan of paying $1.50 for blue cheese when the sever asked me which sauce I wanted to go with my wings. I could've done without also who charges for a sauce that is known to pair with wings?? I rated this establishment 4 stars for the price of the food. If you view the receipt, I paid $45 for wings and fries. In this economy, that's pretty pricey. I personally would only return for happy hour if I were in the neighborhood. The meal options aren't anything special that you can't find elsewhere.

The food was DELICIOUS! And the bartender was POURING! The salmon croquettes, southwest egg rolls, hot honey biscuits and wings were amazing appetizers. I had the catfish & grits and tasted the truffle fries. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal. Good service and the brunch Dj played good music. Give it shot, you won't be disappointed

So we came here for brunch on a Saturday and they did have a really good DJ it was a little bit empty for what I expected on a Saturday morning but I heard that Saturday nights are actually thier busiest night so I'll be back to check that out, but the food was really good. The drinks were really strong and the customer service really was what kind of gave this place a really great rating for me because our waiter was very attentive. He had multiple tables, but he always came back over and checked on us. The food came out quick I do like the fact that the DJ was loud enough for us to hear the music but it wasn't overbearing. I do feel like it would be nice if maybe they had like a speaker on the patio section because I think the patio section has a lot of potential but it is next to the train station so maybe not but I don't know, we didn't sit on the patio. We sat on the inside, but I did enjoy my food and my drinks and I will come back. especially to try the reverse happy hour on Saturday night.

Went to watch the game. The vibe was cool. Music was nice. Staff attentive. However it did take long for my food but when it was delivered it was good. I saw other plates there that looked yummy I would go back. They had a lot of seating options to see a game. Nice cool spot.

This was my first time coming to New Line Tavern. A big shoutout to Mario and crew for handling all orders from the private event. The drinks were made perfectly and the food was DELICIOUS. I ordered the catfish and grits. The space was large enough to accommodate the large party and it was clean the staff came in timely manner to remove all trash and used plates. I hope to come back here on another visit to Chicago. Thank you once again.

Looking…read morefor a place that's not going to break your pocketbook, but still has excellent food ideas and executes the flavors well with quality ingrediets? Then look no further! My girlfriend and I were really bummed that I had driven all the way from Milwaukee to see a show only for it to be canceled 10 minutes before show time. We were getting even more irritated trying to find a place, in the west loop area, that was unique, fun, with good food at a decent price. After about 20 minutes we FINALLY settled on The VIG. My attitude changed immediately walking in and seeing the cool layout and theme while Magic Stick (50 Cent & Lil' Kim) played at a decent volume then switched to Sublime. I love an eclectic music playlist. Huge, solid, bare-wood support beams decorated with really cool led lamps that looked like they were out of a prohibition era speakeasy. The lighting was not too bright to be annoying, but not too dark where it ya can't read your menu (like so many places are nowadays)! The at on the walls was from the golden-era and really tactful pictures of pinup girls and guys. Tv's were everywhere for people to watch the Cubs beat the Nationals, and the seating was not too crammed. It was very comfortable! The staff was on top of things and very friendly and knowledgeable! Excellent descriptions and understanding of the food and drinks they serve! Good sense of humor as well which made ordering fun! The food came out promptly and well plated! The pictures are of the elote street corn deviled eggs and the Italian beef bao buns. Both were AMAZING! Well thought out dishes that perfectly mixed cultures and textures while still preserving enough individual culture of each part of the dish! That got us extremely excited to try more! The old fashioned was really good, even to my biased Wisconsin standards, and the rosé slushy was fantastic! For entrees, I got the ribeye. I will say that it is only around an inch (or less) thick, so keep that in mind if, like me, you like a medium rare to medium done steak. The char was perfect, their compound butter really was unique and added to the flavor, and the steak was still juicy enough to enjoy even though it was medium well to well done. It was still delicious and went VERY well with the potatoes it came with! The fingerling potatoes were perfectly cooked and had a light drizzle of sauce with some spiced corn kernels sprinkled around them. Truly a dish to remember, even if a tad overcooked. I did let our waitress know when she came around to ask how it was. I reassured her, when she offered to make it right, that it was still ok and that I planned on eating the whole thing so no need to do anything but give feedback to the kitchen. I know it's difficult to control the cook on a thin piece of meat like that. If you generally like medium well to well done steaks, it would have rolled your eyes back in bliss like it did to mine. My girlfriend got the The VIG burger and the Gnocchi Alla Vodka with a side of fresh cut fries. The thick and juicy burger patty itself was a little hard to taste with the cheese, sauce, and tomato. I prefer the beef patty to be the star of the show, and it just got a little lost in all of the other flavors. The texture of the patty was great, though! I could immediately tell that they don't over-mix their patty beef because it held together just enough to bite but then crumbled away nicely which made chewing easy! Next time I will ask for the sauce on the side since it was still good. The fries were fantastic. Not too crispy, not too soft...skins on and the same size as fast-food style fries. The Gnocchi was SPECTACULAR! Cooked to perfection! The sauce was well put together and plentiful, yet not overpowering! Dessert was the tiramisu which was very good! I am VERY excited hearing that a Milwaukee location is opening soon! I can't wait to try more! I'll be recommending this place to my foodie friends! Thanks, to the staff for making our night better with food, light conversation and good atmosphere!

Inside the restaurant is a large bar and wall with multiple TVs, so I imagine it's a packed weekend lunch and dinner crowd particularly on game day. Ultimately, this is probably a regular hotspot for the neighborhood and not a bad place if I do say so myself.

There is an upstairs area that's a little more loungier whereas the downstairs can get more rowdy on game day. We came during the championship game, and this was the perfect spot to be. We came early to be able to snag some bar seats upstairs and enjoy multiple drinks and food. Drinks are great - some cocktails and beers are only offered downstairs. Food was a mix: Chimichurri cauliflower: smaller portion than I expected, nothing special I'd skip this dish. Ceasar salad: dressing is very heavy on the anchovy paste, otherwise good portion and veggies. Loaded fries: huge portion with lots of great toppings, though I wish their fries were more 'fry' like versus potato skin-like. Chicken tenders: I got this with sweet potato fries, and they were way too salty. The chicken tenders were 4 skimpy pieces of chicken, and I was charged for extra dipping sauces and ketchup. The spicy mango habanero and buffalo are good - skip the garlic parmesan. I will most definitely be back for the vibes, drinks, and service. I'm hoping the food is just working on some kinks and will get better the next time!

I usually don't drink on the weekdays, so I ended up just getting an iced tea and him a tequila soda, but because I don't drink, we decided to get an appetizer and we browsed the menu for a minute and ended up splitting the Parmesan chicken egg rolls. Truthfully, I really just wanted to see what that would entail because it seemed a little disgusting or maybe even some kind of high-food, but to my surprise, it was actually a really crispy skinned pizza roll. I'm pretty sure it had been previously frozen, but in that moment- served with a side of marinara, I didn't really care. It was full of gooey melted mozzarella cheese and almost like a breaded chicken nugget center. Pretty decent as far as bar food goes. They also had crab rangoon to which I thought, "hmm are they doing a little too much?!" I'm sure drunk me would have gotten them years ago so what can ya do. Overall, quite a positive experience. The bartender was really sweet and everything wasn't super expensive.
