Our experience with this company. My husband and I wanted our back patio resurfaced and painted.NLKD came out and did an estimate. From there we had the work done.We were not happy with the job. The resurfacing job started cracking in a short period of time and the joints between the concrete started cracking.Dave Sheehan came out to see if the work was under warranty and it was. Dave then drew up a warranty paperwork for the work that needed to be done and Dave said 0$ for warranty work. We were constantly put off and Dave's wife Kelly kept saying to me, I don't want you to think we a blowing you off! I said No I don't feel that way at all. Kelly said Dave had personal issues to take care of every time I called and Dave's wife Kelly told me over and over I don't want you to think we are blowing you off. This went on for over a year.Dave came over for the second time to relook at everything and said nothing was under warranty and refused to do the work, Dave said I harassed his staff and the only communication I had was with his wife Kelly. I have emails and texts of all the conversations we have had and in those texts Kelly never said quit harassing me, we were cordial with each other.When Dave Sheehan arrived he was very nice thanking me for holding gates for him. I showed him a water run off grate the company installed and the concrete cracking. I brought up the first time he came out and wrote up an estimate about the warranty work that needed to be done he said that means nothing.Earlier I was sent a email saying Dave and Kelly had a handyman they have known and had work done for them for many years. They suggested I have this handyman do the work that needed to be done for the warranty work. They stated we will pay him $75 to do the warranty work and that I can then deal with the handyman from now on and NLKD would be out of it and that I would deal with the handyman. I told them no I don't feel comfortable with that. I want the company to come out to fix the work. The work to be done was over $75. Dave says get a handyman. He wasn't nice anymore once we got in my backyard. I showed him the separation and cracking in the concrete on the back patio. We have spent thousands of dollars to have this job done to begin with.Dave raised his voice to me and started yelling at me loudly!!!!! My neighbors could hear everything. He yelled "You are the worst person I have ever dealt with in my 10 years in this business. He wouldn't listen he continued to yell at me. Saying you have put this off over and over and we will not be doing any work for you. Dave said " your money means nothing to me and I wouldn't accept a dime from you!" I don't understand why he said that since we already payed him.I kept trying to talk to him as he was walking on the side of my house walking out the back gate to leave.he was very angry and was very hurtful and rude. He said don't call or reach out to my company in anyway.He also said to me if you defame my company "I will sue you!" He started walking away and got in his truck. I said why did you even come? He left. I called the police and filed a report on Dave because I felt threatened at him yelling and verbally abusing me.This is my experience with Dave Sheehan, his wife Kelly and NLKD The warranty work has never been fixed. I am very pleased with the outcome with what the team did to my pool deck. I live in Gilbert and I was out of their network area. I saw a bunch of reviews about this company and knew this has to be the company to give my pool deck a makeover after another company had destroyed my pool deck. I spoke with Kelly, and told her about my backyard disaster and if they would be able to go out their area for this big project. It was a complete restoration and I can walk into my backyard and be happy with the pool again. The team had removed the over pavers and the slate tile that was on the deck. It was alot of work forsure! Kelly was one of the staff that has been reaching out to me and making all of the arrangement. From my first contact to completion of work NLK was the epitome of professionalism, reliability, attentiveness to detail, cleanliness, friendliness, etc. Everyday they showed up on time and put in a full days work. They covered the pool to prevent debris from getting in. They covered all surfaces that needed protection from putting the color on our cool decking. We had a diving board that was so old and the springs and bolts so rusted that it was a real hazard. They were able to remove it, cut and grind out the rusted bolts, and when done you'd never know the diving board was ever there. They cleaned up after completing the work. You wouldn't have known they'd been grinding, scraping, cutting, spraying, etc. for the past 4 days. They started work on the day that was our 46th anniversary, and Tracy came bearing donuts to wish us a happy anniversary. I really couldn't ask for anything more. Oh, and having received several estimates, NLK was the most cost effective. Do I need to say it; YES YES YES, I highly recommend NLK. Make sure to give them a call. read more

Had my pool deck and patio refinished by NLKD 8 months ago - so the review is a little late. Surfaces still look fantastic! Over the years, I've hired a lot of contractors for repair & remodeling projects with mixed results... This time, I can't say enough good things about my experience with New Look Kool Deck and More. After 15 years - my pool deck and acrylic decorative finished patio were in need of repair and refinishing. I had gotten two quotes (one company tried to "upsell" me and convince me that I should lay travertine over the whole thing for $15K) and the other company sent a sales guy who was just brokering projects - he gave me an unreasonably high quote and zero confidence in a successful refinish project. I saw a referral on Nextdoor for NLKD, checked their reviews on Yelp (all 5 stars!) and then sent a message through Yelp detailing my project. David (the owner) responded right away with his next available spot to come out to review/quote the project. We set a time and he was there on Mon. at 11:30 on the dot. He reviewed my deck & patio, made some suggestions, offered what he felt would be best plan to remedy some large cracks, loose pool tile, settling concrete and uneven surfaces left by original contractor. He took measurements, discussed which crew would be best to work on the job, earliest possible dates they could fit the project in and left a color chart for me to review. David committed to get the quote within 24 hours - I had it later that evening and was extremely happy with the project scope and quoted price. I paid the 40% deposit for the project on line and got a call within minutes to set up time for them to start the work. Dave & his crew showed up at 7 AM as promised each day and Angel & Manny worked 9 hours on Thurs., Fri. & Sat. making sure I was happy with the progress and color as they went. The results are fantastic and I could not be happier - they also did a good job cleaning up the yard afterwards. I called a couple days afterwards to point out a couple of details that needed attention and they followed up and resolved the next day. However, we did not get it. I texted to find out if they had the right email and was told they decided that they did not want to service the East Valley. I recently contracted with Dave Sheehan and NLKD to repair and resurface my deteriorated, 14 year old pool Kool deck. This was a decision that I made after receiving 4 other estimates and looking at the available reviews on the internet. Dave also had the lowest estimate of the other companies that I had contacted. After checking their calendar, the office contacted me and said they could start the job on Sept. 14 th and it would take 2-3 days to complete. Kelly, at the office advised that Brandon and Angel would do my wrk and would arrive between 8 and 9 on the 14th. Kelly called me on the 13th to let me know that they were running a little behind on the previous job and that Brandon and Angel would be at my home on the 14th but won't be there until around 11 AM. At approximately 11 AM Brandon and Angel arrived and immediately got to work. These two guys are the best workers that I have ever encountered. In a short time, they had my pool bubble wrapped and everything around the pool masked off to prevent any damage from overspray. Unlike many workers, these two guys showed up when the said and worked efficiently while they were here. On Friday they competed the job and my decking has never looked so good. The guys uncover my pool and removed the masking they had done and cleaned up the area around the pool. One note that I would like to add is that when Dave estimated the cost to repair, he included a $300 cost for some areas where he felt that the cement needed some special attention and a sealer coating. As it turned out, after those areas were sanded, Brandon decided that the cement was ok and did not need any special attention. This information was relayed to Dave, the owner, and he let me know that I had a $300.00 refund coming to me. Several days later Dave stopped by and refunded the $300.00. This company and their employees are undoubtedly the best that I have ever dealt with. I highly recommend them and their services to everyone and will definitely use them in the future should the occasion arise. Thank you guys for your integrity and craftsmanship. I give enough negative reviews when justified. But when a company/contractor is good I MUST report it. Dave came out for an estimate. We had received 1 other estimate and it was almost 2x as much. I was in shock! I had another company quote me based on square footage. Dave's price was still a few hundred less than the person that quoted without looking based on square footage alone. We had kool decking applied on our large back covered patio (which had a large crack and just needed some love) & a small front entry way patio. They were only a week or so out from when we called to schedule. The two guys that laid down came early and finished it all in one day. We were told it would be a 2 day project but the weather conditions were just right to get it done in 1. We could not have been happier with the finished product. Don't bother shopping around. Great outcome on our new pool deck thanks to the team at New Look Kool Deck. The owners, Dave and Kelly Sheehan, agreed to take a risk on a new thermo-plastic material called Flecks Systems. My wife and I were in "awe" of this coating when at a resort in Las Vegas. It was 115 degree day and we could walk barefoot on this stuff. We had to install it around our pool in Surprise, AZ. Dave got his team certified by Flecks Systems and we were on our way. The trowel team led by Angel and Tim were great. Very skilled guys. All the positive reviews on this company are true, I talked to several companies then decided on New Look to replace our old Kool Deck and add an Epoxy floor covering to our garage. Dave was very honest and up-front from day one. We went over costs, he set a date and Manny and Angel came out at the exact time that was set. They worked for 4 days (110 degree weather) and did a great job on both the deck and the garage. They were at the house on time every day and did a great clean-up when done. I saw the New Look Kool Deck truck in my neighborhood and thought this must me an omen as I needed edge repair on my Kool Deck by my pool steps. I called the number and the truck and had a delightful conversation with Mary. She thought Dave may be able to stop by and give me a quote before he left. That didn't work so Dave showed up on time the next day to give me a quote. Dave provided a very competitive quote, not the least expensive, and stated that he would emil the quote to me. The conversation focused on repairing the edge and at least one square and painting the entire surface. After several days i called and asked when I would get the quote. I got the quote 7 days later from the visit. The quote was missing the major component; fixing the edges by the steps. I called and asked if i could add the extra work, sign and return. Mary stated that she would have to defer to Dave. I received a revised quote the next day that nearly double to verbal quote that Dave provided in person but now include all the work we discussed. I did not use New Look as it appeared that they did not want to do the job based on the absurd quote and lack of attention to detail. I did not chose Dave or his firm to do the work.
