Small and clean, ARC offers face (ex. eyebrow, lip) and body services (ex. underarms, bikini). Technicians use soft wax, hard wax and threading. No other services, just waxing and threading. I only do face, and after years of "doing it myself," mostly pandemic related, I chose full face with neck. (I don't do any body services, so you'll either figure if they can do face, they can do body, or look for a review focuing on those services.) Prices are very reasonable. they actually would have been reasonable pre-pandemic: $8 for eyebrow, $4 for lip. Full face with neck is $35. Some places, some more spa like, charge $18 for just the eyebrow. Using wax and threading, I received first-rate services. Angela knew what she was doing. Clean, cheap and fast! This is my first time ever getting my eyebrows done. The process was very quick, efficient, and easy. I've heard that threaten hurts, and although there was pain, Sona made it minimal since she was so quick. I was in and out for threading and a tint within 20 minutes. Sona was kind for the entire visit, the only thing is once I sat down the chair she didn't ask me what I wanted and just started. Great early hours are the best time period as this part of Montclair on Bloomfield Ave where parking can be very challenging during peak hours. They open at 9am and close at 7pm. If you're lucky during the AM you can park easily in front of the store front, if it's busy there's a few lots in the direction behind. Their check in system registers your phone number & sets you up for a 20% referral discount! Don't mind the wait time the system states because it's not accurate, for me it said a 40 minute wait but all it was is 5 minutes! I mean it doesn't take long at all for much of their services. I've actually been going to arc beauty salon occasionally since 2018 to get my eyebrows threaded for special occasions. Every time I get my eyebrows threaded they come out great. I also occasionally get my eyebrows tinted as well and they always look good too. I love the fact that threading or waxing your eyebrows only costs eight dollars. I've noticed other businesses are charging ten dollars and up. They also have a loyalty and referral program. After ten visits you get a free eyebrow threading/ waxing. When you provide your name and number for the loyalty program the system keeps track of you and it allows the beauticians to refer to you in a more personable way. Upon entering you can just enter your info on the ipad, select your service and select a particular beautician if you have a preference. There is also someone at the front desk to help if you're not tech saavy. The ipad lets you know your wait time as well. I recommend coming on a weekday around early afternoon so that you're in and out quicker. Overall, I think all their prices are pretty reasonable compared to other places, especially being located in Montclair.. Only downside Is the street parking. read more

This place is hit or miss. Once you find a lady that does your brows the way you like it, you'll be fine. I don't remember who I went to the first time but they did great. Went the next time and it's ok. I didn't have time to search for a picture to show the lady how to do my brows. Transphobic salon - will not service trans people. I accompanied my partner (they/them)- who was scheduled for a full arm and lower leg. I used my phone number for the appointment so I think they thought this was for me (she/her). The beauty technician came out calling my name and made an obvious face of repulsion at my partner sitting next to me. My partner is clearly trans (perfectly manicured glitter nails, pearl jewelry, feminine clothing, makeup and a pink beard). The tech blurted out- "we don't do men's legs- only upper body." This isn't posted anywhere in the shop. I asked- "does that mean you don't service trans people too? They're not a man." The tech just shook her head. I asked "just to be clear- you don't service trans people, right?" And she just said- "not the legs". The very sweet woman at the desk asked what was going on and I reiterated "can you confirm your salon doesn't provide service to trans people?" And she said "of course we do" and connected with the tech. But she came back and said "I'm sorry I don't agree with this but she won't do it". Now at this point we certainly don't want a transphobic person doing something so intimate as a leg wax. That's not good for anybody. But it still really hurts for someone to treat you with such revulsion. We went up the street to the very friendly Waxing the City. Rainbow community be warned- this is not an LGBTQ friendly place. Today was my first time at this Salon. I had read the reviews and I drove from Newark to see what this place was all about, It was clean and the people there were friendly. I parked across the street at the train station ($2.90 for an hour). I walked across the street and I was in and out within 20 mins. My only issue was the girl that started threading my brows didnt ask me what i wanted done, i normally prefer to keep my eyecbrows kind of thick to grow them out but she went straight in and started threading. She was also talking and laughing in the middle of threading, which i normally wouldnt care about but now my eye brows are too thin for my liking and uneven. I came on a very crowded Saturday morning. I found the front desk lady very neutral. She was not friendly, but not super off putting either. I was not greeted promptly upon entering, which would've been nice. She only spoke to me after I approached the desk to inquire about eyebrow threading. I was instructed to sign in at the kiosk. The queue on the kiosk indicated that I would have to wait about 25 minutes. It was very crowded inside so that seemed reasonable. However, I was called about 3 minutes after waiting, probably because I selected that I would take the next person available. Since, this was my first time I had no preference on technicians. The woman I got did a good job but she left a few straggling hairs at the end of each eyebrow. After showing me my face, I asked her to remove them. She went back and threaded more. After she was done she just applied aloe and sent me on my way. Not showing me the mirror again. After I was able to check again I could see that she didn't get all of the hairs I specifically asked her too. She was just rushing me out to service the next customers. So I didn't like that. But overall she did a good job on my brows. And I am picky about my brows. While I wasn't 100% satisfied with my service, I would recommend this business. Also, the $8 price can't be beat. read more

There is so much to love about this establishment. Everything is really neat and clean and the staff is extremely friendly. Poojah or Pujaa( not sure which is the correct spelling of her name) is 100% the only person that I have ever been so comfortable with. She is amazing at what she does and really takes her time at making you comfortable and talking you through the process. Having a Brazilian can be an uncomfortable experience, but with her its quick and easy. Not only does she do an amazing Brazilian, but she does an excellent threaded eyebrow. My arch is always perfect when I leave the salon. In addition to the great services, I do enjoy that they offer specials every so often. STAY AWAY FROM KENA! I always fill in my eyebrows prior to threading sessions and request the threader to not make it thin and thread around the penciled shape. I even exaggerate it w the pencil so it's clear. For 20 years, regardless of the location, everyone's got it right, except for Kena! She made my eyebrows so thin there's nothing to fill in anymore. Looks like the brows trending from the early 90s- thin and same size throughout. No shape. Kena completely disregarded my request and the penciled in areas. It will take years for me to even attempt to grow this back and who knows if it will grow back the same. I know you can request to see specific people, but make sure you specifically request NOT to see Kena! read more

I'm sad to say that I didn't have the experience many other reviewers did. I said numerous times that I wanted a pointed arch, even as she asked me halfway through it the shape was okay, but was given rounded brows. I asked for a trim, one small portion in the middle of one eyebrow was trimmed so short that it looked patchy. The tail of my brow, which is normally thin, was left bushy. Mind you, this is all after I showed a zoomed in photo of my eyebrow a few months ago, exactly the shape/thinness it should be. I was so afraid to have her touch anything else that I said it was fine and I left. Edit: I didn't want to post the woman's name, but since this is the second time I've been asked to do so--I went to Mona on August 22. My last name starts with an F, not a D. BEWARE! DOUBLE DIP! Today was my first time trying out Arc beauty salon . I went for an eyebrow threading and lip wax. While waiting for my service I witnessed both technicians double dipping their wax stick . They would wax someone's face and lay it on the top of the wax melter and dip it right back in . I am a cosmetologist and this is extremely unsanitary. This spreads disease and infection. I opted not to do my lip wax after witnessing this . If you wax here please look out for this because it is very dangerous to your health. Once you double dip a stick the wax is fully contaminated. Donna did an amazing job on my henna for my birthday. I am so happy with her work. Both hands took an hour and 15 minutes. I made an appointment in advance because she doesn't work every day. I also get waxed at arc and they have many different kinds of wax. The hard wax lasts the longest. Patricia is absolutely amazing. She makes waxing fun. My wax lasts 5 weeks. I use the hard wax. Update: by the end of the day the dark henna peals Off and it turns orange. If you have dark skin the henna will appear. the henna lasted 3 days, (Donna estimated a week) that doesn't bother me because I just wanted it for my birthday and the weekend.
