Went in for a consultation for a finger surgery and the doctor was uninterested claiming the affected area was "too small" to consider. Seriously? I paid the copay and left discouraged and disappointed. I'll find a competent surgeon on my own. read more

Doctor Patton was awesome . . . BUT their billing department is all screwed up. I am retired and on Medicare with a supplemental insurance plan. The issue is that the procedure was performed early in the year on Jan 8th, meaning I was responsible for the $280 medicare deductible (which was taken from my bank and paid directly to NM Ortho). Anyway, they claim that I owe $280 . . . even though I had the bank record that stated the amount in question was paid and a statement from medicare stating that it was paid to directly to NM Ortho . . . however, for some reason, it had been credited to a Dr McGee (?) who, to my knowledge, had nothing to do with the surgery. In any event, they still said that I owe the $280, so we faxed up all the documentation that should have proven that we had fulfilled our financial obligation to NM Ortho. Two weeks ago we received a phone call asking me about the $280 once again. The medical staff was absolutely terrific however dealing with the billing department is a highly frustrating and an unnecessary headache. read more

Dr McGee and his staff were awesome! When my daughter had an orthopaedic referral from urgent care following a skateboard spill, we were able to get an appointment with New Mexico Orthopaedics in a snap *while others were a week or more out*. They have the COVID safe protocol down, and the staff made it as delightful of experience as it could be given the circumstances. We're truly grateful for all the extra measures taken to make sure her wrist can heal properly. read more

I haven't tried the physical therapy here so this review is solely based on the doctor's. The location is easy to get to and ample parking. It's much more convenient to get into the office then the downtown location especially when you're on crutches and don't want to hop far. The receptionists are very nice and each time I've gone the wait time is far from horrible (downtown the wait can easily be a good hour). I've continued to see Dr. Racca, this time for a knee injury. He's the best of the best what can I say. He genuinely cares. His staff is fantastic too. His office admin Ali is phenomenal she responds to calls promptly and always is cheerful and helpful. I don't wish anyone the need to see an orthopaedic but if life leads you to need to see one this is the place. read more

I scheduled an appointment to see an MD over two months ago. Yesterday eve at 5 pm, (the eve before my anticipated appointment, I was left a voicemail that my Dr was sick and I'd need to call the next morning to reschedule. While I understand the reason given, I do not understand why when I called, they put me on another 2.5 month wait?! I was bumped to the back of the line because of something that was not my problem. I think the scheduling staff could make an effort to get me in sooner than ANOTHER 2.5 mo wait. I spoke to a woman named Crystal who was very matter of fact and short with me, not an ounce of kindness in her voice. The lack of effort to make a more timely appointment change was very telling about their practice.They don't seem to care about the individuals they make money off of. read more

I was seen about 3 weeks ago. Today I tried to reschedule my appointment because my knee is still killing me. I called and they said I was 20th in line and if I pushed 1 someone would xall me back. This is a great place to go to come to for orthopedic help. It has great therapists, receptionists, and doctors. The PT is great and really loophelps to exercise your muscles to help fix your bones. They have two locations so its easier to choose which one is better for you. read more

I have had nothing but terrible care from the doctors in this group at their office at Winrock Plaza. I've had leg pain for eight months. I received a diagnosis of hip bursitis from my daughter's uncle who's an orthopedic surgeon but it was over the phone so he was guessing at what it could be. So I went to a hip specialist at this clinic on 7/6/22 and all he did was take X Rays and give me a shot in the Bursa. I saw him again on 10/6/22 to see if I could get a diagnosis but he had the shot in his hand when he came in the room and that's all he was going to do. It wasn't nearly as effective as the first shot and my leg pain continued. I told him when he gave me the second shot that I hadn't been diagnosed by anyone in Albuquerque and that the diagnosis was over the phone and all he said was the shot worked last time didn't it? I showed him the problem that's been ongoing, a lump in the front of my calf where the pain seems to be coming from and he said I don't know what that is. then I saw a lower leg specialist who X rayed my bones and then had an MRI done. Again he ignored the lump in my leg and after the MRI sent me to a place called Innova Vein and Vascular because he claimed the MRI had shown multiple varicose veins in my calf. I had the ultrasound done at Innova and they didn't find that I had any venous insufficiency. I pointed this out in a message on the patient portal and I called their office two or three times and I've never received a reply from the lower leg specialist. I'm never going back to this office or having anything to do with New Mexico Orthopaedics again. These doctors don't do any follow up and they obviously don't care anything about the Hippocratic oath. It's been months and they failed to help me. I have an appointment to see another doctor in a different medical group. I think this place is just a chop shop where doctors don't care about patients unless they are going to have surgery. read more

Dr. Brock and all of the staff here are wonderful. Matthew did intake and he was funny but totally professional. Dr. Brock was thorough in assessing me and explaining to me the pros and cons of hip replacement. Nora did the scheduling and was super nice and efficient. Whoo hoo. I'm getting new hips!! read more

I followed Dr Gilmore from Rust Medical to NM Orthopedics. Sad to say I will not go there anymore due to the rudeness and unprofessionalism of the staff both the front and back office. They don't answer their phones and you get a recording for an option to have them call you back which usually is an hour later. They don't call you when testing is ordered and set up and they don't call with results of anything. It seems the patient does all that if they want to know. Even then it takes about a month for the staff to schedule anything. If you call for anything you get attitude or someone will call you back but that doesn't happen. They are not educated on insurances. read more

I'm a 100% disabled combat vet. VA sent me there for a knee replacement. After surgery they wanted me to come by for a fourth visit so "the doctor could check on progress". VA wouldn't allow it. Said three visits was enough. NMO billed me directly for a "no show" because of it. Ordinarily all my authorized healthcare is paid for but I'm stuck with this bill because NMO didn't get their way with the VA so they decided to stick me instead. read more

I will never go back to this clinic even if I got my bone broken again. Reason #1) A nurse makes a serious mistake and nobody can fix the problem promptly. (What Happened) I wanted a temporary handicapped placard from MVD. Before a visit, I completely filled out the form from MVD's website and brought to the clinic. I asked Dr. Brock to just sign his name and put down the number of the month I would need for the placard. In front of me, he did and asked a nurse just to stamp the clinic's seal on the form. It took long time for her to do this no brain job. When she came back, she said, "I messed up with the form, so I copied the information from the old one." Well, I took it to MVD and found out she missed the number of the month I would need and misspelled my last name. Of course, the form was rejected by the clerk. That clerk kindly called the clinic to verify my information. The receptionist kept saying, "The doctor and his team won't be in by 10:00 am, which is 2 hours later and which was actually noon. I cannot do anything." At that time I couldn't park in handicapped space without the placard. I had to walk from far away only to find out I couldn't get my job done. Reason #2) Business Office is a heartless snake hole. (What Happened) I got my left leg bones broken so bad right after I quit my job. I don't have income though my husband works. It was so hard to pay the bill, but I kept paying little by little. One day I received a threatening letter from the headquarter in AZ, which says, "If you don't pay the bill in full within 90 days, this account will automatically go to the collection." Wait a minute! I have diligently paying even a little! I immediately called the Business Office of Unser Branch, where I see Dr. Brock. The manager, after listening to me explaining the reason I couldn't do that, coldly said, "We cannot make a payment arrangement if you pay that small amount (I offered about $50 a month.). You need to write a letter to the Supervisor with a complicated name in Ceder Branch to ask him to extend the term of payments. You have to do that asap." And he showed me how to spell his name. I wrote a letter to him with a complicated spelling in Ceder Branch (Looks like it is a main office in New Mexico.). I have never heard from him since. I swear to the God that I will never go back to this clinic again once my leg is healed. I will spread the word to everyone so people won't be treated as I have been. One more thing to add - If you use an exam room even for ten minutes, they will charge extra $100 + for a room usage. If you stay in the common treatment room with 4 beds during your entire visit, they won't charge that amount. I have a proof. So snaky and vicious when nurses cannot do the job that even a 1st grader can do. read more

This is the most useless facility for immediate care ever. They take the Land of Manana attitude to a whole new level. I took my wife to urgent care for her knee, we were refered to N.M.O. and have waited over a week with her in pain and her knee swollen, and we still can't get her in.
