Shocked at some of the negative reviews on here, because to me this place is consistently good. Yes, the service is casual, but I've never waited long to be served at the bar or table. Yes, some of the food is more on the expensive side, but it's the Hamptons. Also, the amount of specials this place offers makes it more than affordable. Stop in for Taco Tuesday for $3 tacos or Wednesday for $8.99 burger night and your wallet will thank you. Shout out to Jimmy, my favorite bartender, who makes the best jalapeno margarita around (which is only $12 on Tuesdays, you're welcome). Their burgers here are solid and always cooked the way you ask for. The Mexican Street Corn Nachos are incredible and great for sharing. The wings and quesadillas here are solid as well. Plus they often have food specials to shake things up and keep it interesting. The decor is fun and unique, it's just a relaxed welcoming vibe all around. It's also nice to see owners involved in the day to day operations of this place. In town for work. Two stars because the bar tender (Charlie maybe?) was kind, and they serve Shiner Bock. Ordered a burger with steak fries. My god. Fries were literally mostly raw. Burger was an ice cold puck with no flavor. Came with half a tomato and half an onion to cover up the flavorless muck. About as casual as you could get. Was there a hostess? Maybe? Did we have a server? Maybe. I just don't know. Random people running around like chickens without their heads. We had to ask for everything. One person told us to "sit anywhere". Someone else brought us menus - after we flagged him down. Another person took our order. You get the picture. I'm sooo happy to have found Cowboy Ron and his awesome wife Shana's New Moon Cafe just a hop and a skip away from our second home in HB!! They have been in business for over 40 years and are open for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner and have a really cool very southwestern feeling restaurant and also a beautifully stocked bar. All of course is safely in the guidelines for Covid safety precautions and rules too. Onto breakfast! Ordered one of the specials of the morning :grilled cheese breakfast Sandwich with 2 eggs, bacon, Jack cheese placed between 2 buttery cheesey pieces of grilled toast: it was total comfort food. I asked if the kitchen wouldn't mind not wrapping my breakfast burrito but just put the contents on a plate and and the Tortilla on the side and they happily obliged. The egg, peppers, onions and chorizo mixture was so flavorful and satisfying. The accompanying potatoes are delicious too! Also shared the grits with super garlicky jumbo shrimp that came with a homemade biscuit and 2 eggs any way you like. The grits are seasoned perfectly and the heavily garlic infused sautéed shrimp were a perfect accompaniment. We met both the owners and I totally connected with Cowboy Ron when we spoke about how he and my father were both in the Vietnam War around the same time frame! So we were on our way back from East Hampton. When we decided to find a food stop. It was 3:30pm on Saturday afternoon. Traffic was building and we wanted to get in & out before the crush. We agreed on New Moon, which we had been to before The Virus. Well, I'm pleased to report - nothing 's changed - nothing. It's still very quaint, very funky. We just wanted burgers and they were great. We all ordered the same one - but with different fries for each. Cami had sweet potato fries, Bobby crinkle cut and me big wedges. All first rate. A lovely lunch spot after our hike today! The outside garden area was so pretty!! I loved looking around. The menu was breakfast and lite lunch and it had good basic options. My husband and I stopped in here for brunch and it was such a lovely experience. All employees were very kind and welcoming and when we sat outside the owner Ronnie was there reading the paper and introduced himself to us and was very sweet and pleasant to chat with. He had told us how he laid the brick that we were on many years ago. Such a kind gentleman. Then the food was AMAZINGGGGGG so delicious and you can tell they really put love into that food. Super cute texan themed restaurant in the heart of Quoge family owned and operated. The exterior of the restaurant is kind of misleading to the insides western Texas decor, but they have a super sweet patio alongside a garden and barn (perfect photo ops on bright summer days in the Hamptons!). The inside is a bar with seating, but you forget you're in a bar. I went for Mother's Day brunch. The restaurant is very accommodating and we were able to make a reservation a few days in advance. We were a party of 6 and we all absolutely loved our food, our empty dishes even proved it. The flavor combos for breakfast are right up my alley, a mix of fun and fruity French toast to brisket hash with all the regulars in between. All the portions are really big and priced very well. I would come back for lunch and dinner & hope to try soon. The owner was super friendly and introduced himself personally when we walked in and even ran out behind us to thank us for our business when we were leaving. The whole vibe of the restaurant was really nice - good food, good service & welcoming owner. You can tell they cherish their customers, summer folk and not. Another great visit to the New Moon on Taco Night. Busy, waited for an outside table for about 10 minutes. Loved the renovations outside, new patio, games for the kids, tables spaced. Servers were super attentive while being extremely busy. Ronnie (owner) sat and talked with us for about 15 minutes, much appreciated he took the time. Very happy they are doing so well! The food was subpar with the combination kabob being 38 dollars with it having a 5 oz piece of meat, 3 little shrimps on the kebab with oversized vegetables half grilled, 2 small pieces of chicken and un seasoned boiled vegetables. Over all the food was trash for the amount of money you are spending, I do not recommend getting anything that Mexican there. A hidden gem! This is one of our best finds in the Hamptons. On Montauk Hgwy passing thru East Quogue, this cozy, rustic resturant is family owned and run. It's my first time at New Moon Café. I tried the weekend lunch special. I ordered the Southwest Burrito Bowl with Grilled Chicken.  It's $16 plus tax. Everyone was VERY nice. The price seemed a little high, I can get a chicken burrito bowl for $10-$12. This was $16 and was the lunch portion. (Dinner cost more but you get more). The portion was a little small for the price, but a decent size. What more than made up for the slightly higher price and slightly smaller portions, is the flavor. The bean had a sweet maple flavor, the diced onion, tomato, corn had a vinegary flavor, chicken, rice, radishes, avocado, all balanced out the flavor nicely. All and all a pleasurable experience. I just went here for the first time in over 2 years and they are as dishonest as ever. They like to pad the bill which is why I stopped going. Wine was supposed to be 50% off but I was charged the full price. They will correct the bill if you point it out and cheerfully explain that there was an error in their new computer system. Re-run of my 3 previous experiences on Taco Tuesday nights a few years ago. I don't think their regulars have this problem. We ordered shrimp fajitas. What a mistake. The shrimp came with the tails on so you had to peel before eating. Some of the pepper strips were 2 inches wide. In one of the dishes there was a whole top of pepper including seeds. This should have been tossed in the garbage. In still another plate there was a wide ring of pepper with seeds which should not have been put in the dish. This is a Mexican place but the blender is broken so they can't make frozen margaritas. Told us they would get one for summer..why not now? On a positive not the staff is nice and the place is cute. read more
