Since then, they have been one of the most amazing spots ever. Great food, a variety of options, so many specials and amazing service. Every person that works at all these locations has always been friendly. I haven't dined in at the new one yet but from what I see they have a full bar and the ambience looks great. Their steak is always perfectly cooked, medium rare, juicy most and packed with flavor. All of their meat options are absolutely delicious. They are limited on the sauces they provide but I am so happy they are consistent throughout. I've had their burritos, their wings, their enchiladas their chicken you name it. Decided to order from cactus cafe from postmates. The ordering process was super easy and convenient. The food arrived exactly as expected. All servings were generous and fresh. I ordered the chicken burrito. It was huge! I only ate half but it was delicious! Husband ordered the chicken enchilada and loved it! Rude employees, wrong orders, and bad food. It's sad because this place has been here forever and I used to really enjoy it. Last night was my last try. I ordered pickup directly through their website. Not only was it difficult for the employee to find my order, but when I got home I found that my 2 vegetarian tacos were both fried chicken tacos. I called the store letting them know what happened and asked if they could just refund 2 incorrect items ($6 total). After being on hold 3 times, they told me to bring in the chicken tacos (???) and they would make the vegetarian ones. I again said it was fine, I did not want to go out again, and if they could issue a refund that would work. He continued to refuse a refund so I ended up throwing out the chicken tacos and losing $6. it would have been nice if the restaurant offered to deliver the correct order as I am well within their delivery zone. Still unsure why they wanted the chicken tacos brought in. Most restaurants will fix their mistake and tell you to keep the wrong items. The food wasn't good enough to make a second trip out in the cold. Sadly this was my last meal at Cactus :( read more

Ordered the fajita platter with chicken and steak. There was very little chicken in it. The steak was really tough and dry because it was over cooked. The beans and rice were very flavorful though. We also ordered small chips and guacamole and I feel like portion size was smaller than we expected. Taste was good. Great for a quick take out meal! Burritos are large and filling! Food is made fresh to order. Sometimes orders can take a while if it's a busy time. They offer $5 burritos after 10pm every day and run a taco special on full moon nights. For now, they have also been doing 2 enchilada plates for $13 which is enough food for 2 people for 2 nights. Store is cute and decorated with a Mexico theme. Not much space to sit and eat there. read more

I've been coming to this place for about 15 years, (yes I'm old) and it has always managed to stay consistent enough to bring me back. It's worth every trip. I drive from 10 miles away and I do it with pleasure knowing I'm in for a good meal. For starters, the queso dip is phenomenal, especially alongside some homemade tortilla chips! They make such amazing whole chickens (which isn't in this order) and they shred the chicken off the bone for the quesadillas and you can taste the quality in every bite. The chicken corn chowder soup is everything, even in the summertime! The dish full of rice, mixed vegetables and shrimps is so amazing, and they aren't cheap with the shrimp unlike everywhere else! But, no "Tex-mex" meal is complete from cactus cafe without having yellow sauce slathered all over your food. That is a must! Today when I called to order dinner for my family I found the employee who took my order short and snippy but gave the benefit of the doubt that perhaps the restaurant was just busy. When I went in to pick up my order the employee who was near the counter just stood and looked at me, no greeting. No "hello, how can I help you? , not even a "what can I get you"? I was the only customer at the counter. After I paused noticing his annoyed expression , he finally said "hello" curtly. Well I instantly recognized the voice from the phone. He was behaving equally rude in person. As someone who has worked in customer service for many years, I found his demeanor rude and unnecessary and pointed out to him that he should greet his customers when they enter. He proceeded to become hostile and unbelievably even more rude, He hastily handed me my order, said that I should greet him, and told me to leave. I then pointed out that he did not give me my complete order. I had had enough of his rudeness and told him that his customer service skills were horrendous . Another employee standing quietly nearby prepared and completed my order. When she gave it to me I asked her for her coworkers name which she appeared fearful to say as he was adjacent. I then asked him directly for his name and he refused. He then even more obnoxiously told me to leave using my first name that I provided when I gave my order over the phone. We had the Bean Burrito ($5), 3 tacos (smoked brisket, marinated steak, pulled pork), shredded chicken plate (rice, zucchini, carrots, corn & peas) and BBQ wings (sauce on the side). My son and I decided on a last minute weekend at a hotel for some pool time and to check out a local museum. He passed out in the car on the way there so I ordered some delivery while he napped for a few minutes longer. Looked for a decent menu and found one that was pretty interesting. We ordered the chips and cheese sauce (my kids loves eating cheese) and he also got some cheese quesadillas with fries. Ordered a smoked brisket and bbq rib tacos on corn tortillas and man these were so good. Not only did they correctly 86 all traces of cilantro (don't judge), they loaded it up with fresh lettuce, onions, and shredded cheese. The flavors were amazing and just tasted clean, made to order, and with attention. The way they wrapped it up to make sure it didn't fall apart or fall out was really a nice touch. We also ordered a rotisserie which was their special and it came with 4 sides. Not one, or two but four sides! We got roasted veggies, rice, fries, and jalapeno corn bread. The chicken was really done well. It was juicy, well seasoned, and fell off the bone. The rice was okay but really needed a little salt and pepper but since th chicken was well seasoned, it was a decent pairing. The fried were great, not the cheap frozen kind but they were also seasoned well, crispy, and tasted good. My kid went to town on the tortillas and cheese sauce. Not only did they give us a small container of sauce, but it was piping hot and had little tiny bits of jalapeno in it. It wasn't the least spicy and could have used a little more salt but kid was double dipping every chip he grabbed. And these chips were legit, not the store bought or bagged kind, it was the ones where they took an actually tortilla, cut it up into triangles and fried them. But they weren't too oily because they clearly let them dry off a bit before serving them. They were perfectly seasoned and still warm when they arrived. The last thing I opened was the corn bread. I really have given up on cornbread in most places. They are usually dry, crumbly, and taste like sweet saw dust or is very dense and hard. Sad because proper cornbread is actually delicious. This place has amazing cornbread. Not sure if I just got a fresh batch or if it's always like this but they gave two thick pieces of corn bread. It was so moist and buttery with actual bits of corn and jalapeno baked into the bread. Wow, what a treat and it gave me some hope that there are still some restaurants out there that still care about quality. Totally wasn't expecting too much for delivery but was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of food including the care they took to package our meals. normally it's a good, but something is off with the chicken, the flavor the used is great, but, inside of the chicken is off... it's stringy...similar to the texture of dried over processed hair strands , and when chewed (Yupp! Stopped in for a quick bite while running some errands in the area. The chips and cheese were amazing. Some of the thickest, crispiest chips I've had locally and the cheese sauce was really good but a bit towards the mild side. They have a great selection of hot sauces available (also for sale by the bottle), though, so you can add as much spice as you want to your food. The fish taco was very flavorful and really good even though the piece of fried tilapia by itself seemed overcooked. It could just be whatever spices they add to the batter and breading though that gave it such a dark color. I tried the Tex-Mex part of the menu with a bbq rib taco. The flavor was sweet (maybe a honey bbq?) and because it was shredded rib meat it made for a little bit of a sloppy eat. It was fine but I'll stick to the chicken or carne asada next time. They had a number of soups on the menu, which was nice on a cold afternoon. Limited seating as it seems to be mostly a take-out joint but I'd come back next time I'm in the area. read more

My wife and her mother are from Peru. We have been in search of some good pollo a la brasa. Today we tried the Cactus Cafe. We ordered the whole chicken with 4 sides for $22 to go The choices for sides are Rice, black beans, french fries, jalapeño corn bread, refried beans and vegetables. We opted for rice, 2 sides of black beans and French fries. The chicken had nice flavor but unfortunately it was overcooked and dry. The fries were the best of the sides. Unfortunately they were packed in a foil tin with plastic lid and were not vented. The hot fries steamed themselves and were soggy upon opening. The black beans and rice were overly salted. Warning to anyone on a low sodium diet, Stay away. Rice is inexpensive and we always have some at home so we just tossed it. We mixed the salty beans with plain rice and were able to suffer through them. If we were ever to order the chicken again we would skip the sides and get the chicken only. The food is pretty decent. The decor is festive, but so-so. The service is fine. I would deem this place to be just an okay place. Nothing's horrible, but then... nothing's spectacular either. To get here takes a bit of a drive, since I have to take the local roads. For the effort, I don't know if it's worth it. I hate giving small businesses bad reviews, but i got a street corn salad with chicken.
