They may be a great restaurant during crawfish season. But when we went in there today everything was frozen. And they were charging full market price for it. And that's only if it's fresh. And the waitress told me they serve nothing fresh except during crawfish season. That would be a waste of money and time for anybody. And an overcharge. As for my opinion, the fried shrimp was pretty good and both my wife and I enjoyed that. The catfish did not taste fresh, the oysters were borderline inedible, the hush puppies were not good and the "Cajun" fries had VERY LITTLE seasoning and just tasted like regular fries. Came here with hubby to celebrate my birthday. We ordered soft shell crab with hush puppy, onion rings and Cajun fries. Boiled snow crab, head on shrimp and crawfish. We ordered the All-in-one sauce medium hot. The soft shell crab plater was delicious... Crunchy and tasty. The sauce for the boiled seafood was flavorful. It would be even better if there were more garlic. I chose the head-on shrimp because I saw other reviewers mentioned the head-off shrimp was not fresh. Sadly, neither was the head-on shrimp. They changed their management recently . This place was very good but not anymore. The head off shrimps are not fresh and like $4.99 per pound kind of shrimp in the supermarket but it's $17 per pound here. Low quality shrimps with just okay sauce. Food is always very good and the service very friendly. But what really stood out on Wednesday evening was the fact that the young lady taking our orders checked the NO TIP box before she turned the machine for me to sign! I was so impressed we had a substantial bill. It would have been very easy for her to just turn it around giving me options of 15% 18% or 20% before I signed the receipt. THANK YOU! In so many other places that under normal circumstances would not even warrant a tip they readily turn it toward you and make you feel like a cheapskate when you don't tip them on the pack of gum they handed you! So kudos to New Orleans Crab Shack I really hope that is a store policy! PS of course I did tip her cash. Let me preface this by saying I have been to the French Quarter more than a dozen times. If this restaurant were in New Orleans, I would give it a very solid 4 stars cuz the competition there is so stiff you have to be amazing or die. But compared to the local competition in McKinney, Plano, Richardson, Allen and North Dallas I was very pleasantly surprised so worthy of a Texas "5" stars. We had the #7 mixed boiled sausage, shrimp and potatoes with the house sauce. Excellent blend of seasoning and large portions, we WILL be back and have already recommended it to friends. We did not try any of the fried food so can provide no guidance there. Appreciated having a cleanup station to the side to wash up cuz it can get messy. THANK YOU for de-veining your shrimp. So many restaurants don't, and I appreciate that you make the effort. Staff was very friendly, checked on us often, and the register staff was very helpful in making suggestions and was knowledgeable. I hope New Orleans Crab Shack does well, we've been looking for great Cajun at a reasonable price for some time. I listened as the manager went table to table asking how everything was and every table responded it was "great" or "really good", etc. We had passed this restaurant for months, but it was not open. Came to Texas for a small vacation and stumbled upon this gem. It wasn't too busy for a Saturday so ordering and service was very quick. Food was very delicious. I ordered 2 pounds of crawfish with one pound of dungeness crab mixed with their all in one sauce. I honestly think I got more than what I ordered. There was way too much but I wasn't complaining. Pair that delicious food with such an amazing staff and you have a great go to place for seafood. The owners and staff members were very pleasant and checked up on my party regularly to see how we were doing. Customer service was top notch and very friendly. I took off a star because they gave me 1 lb clam for some reason even though I repeated my order 3 times, I believe they were training a new girl. The clam was NOLA rub and super salty for me, house sauce was perfect- so i got 2 more lbs of house crawfish. Food is amazing and the owner even came out to check on me and let me try samples of their lemon pepper & lemon pepp mixed with house. I had a nice talk after with I guess the manager lady too. Legit!! Coming from New Orleans, this is the closest to home. Started off with the fried oysters appetizer and the softshell crab basket. I've tried plenty of places for Cajun fried oysters but this place knocked it out of the ball park! Perfect amount of batter and seasoning. The batter is light crispy and flaky, you can actually taste the oysters. Got 5 lbs of the NOLA RUB - hot and dayummm! They actually boil the seafood in their seasoning so crawfish itself is much more flavorful. The owners were very pleasant to chat with, they also let us try their house sauce & lemon pepper! House sauce is very tasty and unique. Viet-Cajun is how I would describe it. This definitely will be our go to spot :) read more

Not like a typical restaurant where you come in and wait to be seated. This place you would order and pay first at the counter and then seat yourself. The staff was very friendly and detailed in repeating what we ordered. The crawfish was juicy and seasoning was on point. The fried oyster basket was also a big hit with the wife.
