Naperville AirTeam crowded and nonstop, but they keep it moving. You will spend some time waiting for your turn; but it isn't all day. $161 for a sticker and a $9 "convenience fee" for plastic, which is the only form of payment accepted - that's criminal. Super fast. Super organized. You pull your car into line. They move everybody through quickly. When it's your turn, you exit the vehicle and enter a glass cubicle. The checkers do whatever mysterious thing they do. They scan your car's license plate, so they have ALL your information without any discussion. It is the Government of Illinois, after all. Before I could finish logging -in on Yelp, my car was done. "It's pass or fail. You passed. Here's your paper. Your next test is 2020. You can buy your new tag in the office." And you're out. I did not purchase my new tag yet, but that is a nice service that the DMV made it one-stop shopping. I feel compelled to add that I worry about the air quality for the workers. read more

Location and service is usually fair to decent, given the overall ridiculousness of this requirement forced upon us. If you go at a decent time (best times to go would probably be 9:30ish am to 11am-ish, and then 1pm to 3pm-ish), you shouldn't have a long wait. I believe there are 4 lines/stalls, which do have 2-car capacity for each stall. However, due to many reasons, usually only one operator is working each stall. There is a convenience office right there where you can stop in and get your license sticker, waivers, or do other stuff. However, you're going to get gouged on the prices, and the staff inside can be pretty curt - you know the drill. **(NOTE: While this location and/or these testing centers DO NOT set the emissions "rules" (the state does) - we feel this part of the review does indirectly coincide and is still useful to others reading. For those not in the know, the entire "Emissions" thing every 2 years is one of the biggest money-making schemes around. Even many mechanics have told us this over the years. There is also a political component to the policy, but I won't delve into that HERE. If your car fails, you're essentially hijacked into making certain "emissions related repairs" which usually have NOTHING to do with the functionality or safety of your car. You have to usually spend @$500 in accredited mechanic costs to qualify for a waiver - or - you can apply for other 4-month extension license plate waivers or hardship waivers WHICH ALSO COST EXTRA MONEY. Naturally, this policy adversely will most affect people either on fixed incomes like the elderly, or lower incomes who can't necessarily afford NON-URGENT car repairs, or a new or new (used) car which are also gouged in prices lately. As mentioned, the state also has this tied in with purchase of your license renewal sticker - a NEWER rule which wasn't the case about 7 + years ago, but was changed because people were finding loopholes around the emissions test requirement, but were still able to get their yearly sticker. NOW, you CAN'T get your $158 sticker every other year... unless you FIRST pass emissions {spend more money on repairs}, or qualify for a waiver/waivers {which you'll have to spend more money on even those}. A pretty quick and efficient inspection station. They have about five lanes that move cars through pretty quickly, but you should still come during non-peak times if you want to get through quick. I came at around noon on a Wednesday and was done in about 20 minutes. They also have an office where you can renew your license sticker. The only downside with this is that the office is tiny and only allows two customers in at a time due to COVID protocols. So there can be a line wrapped around outside if it gets busy. read more

Maybe a 3.5. This was my first visit to this facility. I will tell you, when you turn onto Weston Ridge Drive, just keep going straight to the dead end. I wish I had known that because I pulled over and 4 cars zoomed past me. Why is that significant? you might ask. There are loooooooooooooooooong lines of cars waiting to be tested. There is no order so you might be taken care of before a car that was in line before you. At the closed facility in Downers Grove, you were served in order of arrival. Most frustrating ~ like the grocery store ~ I always get into the line where someone ahead of me is not happy about something as I patiently wait. And waiting is exactly what you will do. I brought a book to read to help pass the time. Now, once I got into the bay area, the employee was very friendly and worked efficiently. The alternative was spending a good 20min getting to the nearest DMV from this location or worse putting it off and making another trip to another location . Add possible another 5 to 20 min in waiting in line just to pay for sticker. Made it to the testing center early about 10am on a Wednesday and only a 5min wait. You just gotta do it! For a Thursday afternoon it was kinda busy after lunch. My wait time 9 minutes, but somehow it seemed longer. They are 4 service ports the first three have two operator booths to take 2 cars at a time and the fourth just one operator booth. But not today maybe that's why. 5 Stars for Emission Testing? Yep, that's true. Before you enter there is a large digital sign informing you of the estimated wait, and even an area to turn around if you decide the wait is too long. The lanes are well marked, signage that is well maintained and easy to read and employees that are well trained making the operation run as quickly as possible. They even sell liscense plates and the registration stickers albeit you need to venture into the office after the emission testing. The only thing that slows the process down is the customers that don't pay attention while waiting in line and don't move their cars up as other cars move up. All in all a pleasant experience. Don't forget to thank the emission testing employees. They were almost speechless when thanked and told me they don't hear that often. read more

The dreaded emission test. After my car failed twice and going to the car repair shop, I was absolutely determined to pass this time. This location is tucked away from the main road but is still somewhat easy to find. Use your GPS if necessary. When you turn into the facility, you'll be greeted with an electronic board that gives you an approximate wait time. In my case, it was 36 minutes. Guess I wasn't as lucky as some of these other Yelpers. Then again, I went during lunchtime. You pick a lane after entering in which there were about four lanes. The estimated wait time was somewhat accurate. When it was my turn, the employee didn't know how to plug the cord for a Mazda. I'm his first Mazda client?! He ended up getting another employee to come assist. While he was running the test, I was escorted to a tiny waiting room specific to my lane. Upon entering, I was hit with a foul-smelling odor. The look on my face as I watched them close the door behind me was almost certainly comical, I'm sure. I sat there silently praying for the test to finish as soon as possible. The testing itself took approximately a couple of minutes, but it felt like hours with that lingering odor accompanying me. As glamorous as I try to be, sometimes you just gotta take care of unglam biz. What I like about this process is that you can call ahead and get an automated wait time. The site is relatively easy to find, if you follow the signs off Weston Ridge Drive. There is also a digital time estimator as you drive up, not that I'd turn around and leave once arriving here (there really needs to be more of these sites!) 4 Lanes of service were open, and it looks like they have the capability to be doing 2 cars at once, when needed, but on weekdays they service one car at a time. Once you get into the garage area, there is a heated waiting booth with a chair and garbage can. Real glam at its finest. Thankfully, these guys are pros and the process only takes 2 minutes until you're on your way (if you pass, that is). The area isn't super congested, so this will continue to be my go-to site for my emissions test. read more

A plus if you pass emissions you can get your renewal sticker. Nothing special, the employees are somewhat friendly. The biggest thing you need to know is you never go at the end of the month period if you do the waiting times more than triple !!!!!!! read more

Come here anytime during the week when they are open. Avoid this place on a Saturday morning if you can. Necessary evil!! It's unavoidable. We all need to get our vehicle emissions checked every couple years. I don't like having to go here, but I have to. With that in mind, I'm thinking about the line I waited in, the building, and the service. The sign said approximately 20 minutes to wait, but it was closer to 10 or 15. It went pretty quick. Once you pull up, it's standard procedure. Get out of your car and wait in that little room. The people are pretty nice, and checking your car only takes a couple minutes. As long as you PASS, everything is good. If you don't, you probably need a new car. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised by both the attitude and efficiency of the workers here. They know they are enforcing the Beast's poor people penalty tax and try not to make it any worse (I can't say the same about the DMV). However, it appears all of the reviewers have Stockholm Syndrome, so someone needs to give the Illinois government was it deserves, one star! I do have a proposed solution to defeat the Crown. When summoned for your next test, eat as much Taco Bell as humanly possible a couple of hours before leaving. On your way to the facility keep your windows rolled up at all costs. Came here on a cold Saturday, pulled right up at 830am without any wait. Was in and out in under 5 minutes. The kid that waved me in was pretty courteous and the overall process was so quick and efficient I could hardly think of anything to complain about (lol). It was my first time here as I used to go to the one in Addison, this one is a far better location in terms of entry and exit. The service provided by the employees here is also better as well. It makes me wonder, why are they picking on me??? Does everyone need to have their car tested ANNUALLY??? Regardless, I can definitely say that each time the technicians have been professional, polite, and efficient. Truthfully it's a bit weird to be instructed to sit inside what seems like a 3 x 5 room, I mean talk about claustrophobia! But at least the technicians don't make you feel any more weird, and truthfully that means they are pretty darn good at customer service! This was a snap. Their website shows wait times, so when I checked at 11:00 am on a Monday and wait time was only 9 minutes, I headed over to get my emission test done. When I arrived, it was down to two minutes, but since it was nearing 11:30 (lunch time!), several cars came in after, so plan accordingly. I haven't had to do an emissions test in decades, so it wasn't at all how I remember it. Basically you exit the vehicle and wait in a small waiting area while the employee runs the test. This is the first time I have gone for an emission test. I found the process to be easy. My tester gave clear instructions and was a pleasant individual. I went midweek and mid month about ten in the morning with a very short wait. The convenience fee was $9.50 and the sticker price was up too. The total was $160,50; but that is hardly their fault.
