I was not very satisfied with the customer service we received following a landscaping project at my house. I instructed new roots to remove any dead plants and gave them thoughts on what I wanted the yard to look like. This was following the random couple of freezes Houston received earlier this year. The plants they chose were fine, the design was nothing spectacular, but what really disappointed me was they left three clearly dead trees planted in my yard. When I requested that they come out and remove the trees free of charge (since that is precisely what I asked them to do - remove all dead plants), they refused. I told them I would purchase new trees from them if they came out and removed free of charge, again I was refused. These were not full from trees mind you, they were 3-4 saplings - fully within their ability to remove. I really wanted to like this company since it is so close to my house. I was reminded on this when I started looking for someone to come out and refresh the beds. The only person I would want to come back from New Roots is the irrigation guy. He did a great job. Otherwise, I feel like I overpaid and only received half a job. read more

Summary: They came out and met with us but never gave us a proposal despite my asking several time over several weeks, forcing us to start the entire process over nearly two months after my initial inquiry. Details: I contacted them in late March. They were swamped with other people who needed help thanks to the February freeze and said they would work me in when they could. They came out in mid-April to look at the backyard and discuss what we wanted. They were very nice, and I was looking forward to working with them but never received a proposal. I called in late April and then used the website request page to email an inquiry as to status. On May 3rd, Rachel texted to say she would talk to Jim, and I heard nothing more. On May 9th, I wrote that while I would be disappointed to start over I would prefer to know then that they would not be submitting a bid rather than wasting another week waiting to see if they would give me a proposal. No one bothered to text, email or call me back. So, having started the process in late March, I started the process of trying to find a landscaper over in late May! While I understand being swamped, it would have been much more professional to respond to say that they could not get me a bid for x months or whatever rather than just not respond and hoping I would give up. It is now the end of July, and I never heard from Natural Wonders after the initial visit to my yard. read more

I cannot say enough good things about my experience with New Roots Landscaping. The entire staff is so knowledgeable and helpful. My husband and I opted to have our entire side yard (we live in a patio home) and front yard redesigned and replanted. Gabriella and Jim did a wonderful job designing and recommending the new look. We have terrific stone work paths and ledges, a refurbished metal fence, a beautiful fountain, and terrific plants that invite birds, butterflies and bees to our yard (which is what we requested). We have a townhome with a very narrow distance between our building and the lot lines. I thought our job would be too small for a landscaping company but that was not the case with New Roots. He and his team were able to transform a tiny plot plain grass behind my town home into a retreat by landscaping in a minimal, but beautiful way. They also constructed a pergola and planted climbing vines that will eventually enhance the look of my space even more. Prior to selecting New Roots, I conducted price comparisons. In my case, I was quoted costs for building a pergola by another builder. It turns out that Jim and New Roots were able to not only build my pergola, but also landscaped the entire yard for the same price the other builder would have charged me for the pergola alone.
