    Kimbop delicious!! Yum!!!
    Fawn J.

New Seoul Korean restaurant continues to be one of our most loved restaurants that my husband & I frequently dine at often currently located in a very small space in Middleton, WI! Nothing fancy when dining here but their food is the best spot to try authentic, traditional, delicious Korean cuisine! Usually it's the same owner or elderly Korean gentleman running the restaurant who is often also our server who has always been very kind/courteous & prompt with service! The restaurant is very tiny inside more for takeout orders but there are a few table spots to enjoy the dine in experience. They serve the most delicious Kimbop which is rice, fish cake, fried egg, yellow pickled radish, carrot, spinach all rolled up in dried seaweed that you dip in soy sauce! They also serve their excellent prize dish the Beef Bulgogi which is a quintessential Korean dish meaning "fire meat" or grilled over flame! Beef bulgogi often incorporates a savory sweet flavor of soy sauce, white or brown sugar, sesame oil with minced, grated, or blended garlic, onion, and sometimes Asian pear or chili pepper flavor! I am not sure what they use for marinade but it is delicious & well balanced flavor that is not too sweet or too salty just right absolutely delicious! They also serve popular traditional Korean must try dishes such as Bibimbop, Jambong, & Kimchi fried rice! Did I mention you have to try their homemade kimchi!!! Kimchi is everything in Korean culture!!! They serve complimentary banchan side dishes of kimchi & sweet potatoes with certain main courses!

Found this place from Google & just tried it out. We were received with a warm welcome & were immediately seated. In few minutes they brought out Kimchi & some sort of a sweet sauce potatoes.. free of charge. For a Friday night dinner time, the place was pretty much empty. It's a small place though - probably like 12 tables or so. We went with what our server recommended as most popular dishes - Rock Bowl bibimbop - chicken version & Pork bulgogi. The portions were enough for 1 person each (maybe even 1.5 if your appetite is not much for large portions or if you're not that hungry). The food tasted okay. We paid 41$ for these 2 dishes in total, so bit pricey in our opinion for the kind of experience we expected. Overall, worth a try if you like Korean cuisine or just want to try out a new cuisine.

I taught English in South Korea so crave good Korean food. This place hit the spot. Nothing fancy, but a good quick spot to get a traditional Korean meal.

I have tried several Korean restaurants in the Madison area, and this one is my favorite. I typically order takeout and it's prepared fresh and quickly. The marinade and seasoning is spot on and they use quality cuts of meat. Super friendly service as well.

Japchae with beef (bland not recommended)

Not recommended. Order Japchae, it was so bland and very few pieces of beef. Can't believe they charge $17 for this. The seasoned deep fried chicken is Ben worst. I would call it a fraudulent item as it's not deep fried, and the seasoning it's just some sweet peanut source not the authentic Korean one. It's overpriced for sure

I've mentioned before that the diverse Madison food scene is lacking a Korean presence and New Seoul definitely delivers in that void!! This place is a little hard to miss in the shopping center but it's next to the martial arts dojo! The authentic Korean dishes plus HUGE portions will keep me coming back all the way from the east side. Their kimbap were refreshing and a perfect portion for a satisfying meal. It's got a little sweetness from the egg and then the dipping sauce given with it (I'm not sure if it was plain soy sauce because it had other flavor), adds some of that savory-ness. The japchae, oh my goodness, it's so good. The sweet potato noodles are so fun and bouncy!! The chicken and vegetables were so tasty in whatever sauce they sauté them in. All these flavors in a portion big enough for almost 3 meals! A little on the pricier side as is all Korean food, but definitely reasonable for the flavor and amount you get! Can't wait to try more of their menu!

Since I come here so often, I update every once in awhile to include other dishes I've tried. Recently tried the Bilbao jungol, a spicy beef based soup for two. We enjoyed it and will definitely order it again, especially in the cold winter months when you want something hot and boiling. I still adore the chapchae here, personally not a fan of the tukbokgi (wish there was a little more flavor), but my SO enjoyed it.

    Jambong
    Thuy Dan T.

What a great authentic Korean place on the west side!! This restaurant is very casual, bright, and clean. Service is friendly and always refills your water. I thought everything tasted like very traditional Korean food. I especially loved the bibimbap in the rock bowl - came out sizzling, perfectly cooked beef and rice, and the egg yolk still runny, YUM! The jambong was my least favorite because it tasted a little bland but was a generous portion size. The kimbop was also fresh, nicely rolled so it didn't fall apart and was easy to take home for next day's lunch. If you're looking for real Korean food that's fast in Madison, this is it!

Kimbap (Korean sushi rolls) - delicious and highly recommend getting 20 pieces!

I like the general vibe, although a bit of the 'backstage' is showing, though screens try to hide some of it. They don't have a lot of room to work. Air circulation is intrusive, with a ceiling vent blowing strongly above us and a small mobile fan placed beneath to move the air around. I get it; HVAC is expensive to upgrade. Just saying that's next tier. The seating is fine. Padded, upright chairs, tabletop style, not booth, which makes it easy to change a 2 person table into a 4 top. I like the space between tables; definitely been to restaurants (Ogdens!) where it feels cramped. Service was fantastic. Friendly, attentive server. The food, however, came out at different times, and I don't just mean between apps (2) and entrees (3). Literally each thing came out individually. By the time the third entree arrived for our party of three, we were stuffed. I guess it is nice that it comes out as soon as it is cooked, but be aware. --Loved the iced ginger tea. Exactly what I needed with my meal. --Loved the Korean wings. Suspect this is a very popular dish. Used the sauce we had gotten on the side for other dishes. --Seafood pancakes were quite thick and soft, different than I'm used to. They were okay, but I'd probably get something else next time. --Dining partner thought squid and noodles bland. --Jap chae nice flavor but stuck together in large clump--perhaps a bit overcooked? --Had bibimbop which was nice, but used some of the sauce from the appetizers to really make it shine. Portions are HUGE. The seafood pancake app is meal-sized, as are the 8 chicken wings. Next time I'll split an app and an entree with my partner.

We only choose the meat first and then pick the stuff that we want for the hot pot on the right side of the restaurant, honestly everything seemed like the food was sitting there for a whole day, seemed not fresh like enoki mushrooms were yellow shrunk like it sat there for the whole day, mussels seem dry but as we cooked it, it tasted fine. Honestly reminded me of journeys...which is ok but for hot pot it was just weird, usually places we would place orders for everything. Honestly the spicy marrow broth was really spicy but to me really oily which made me throw up the food after we left, I had to puke behind the car but I never usually throw up food after hot pot but for some reason it just was not sitting good in my stomach. Will give this place a 2 star due to the food being out in the open and not looking appealing or appetizing. Not a lot of options to choose from for putting stuff into your hot pot but still decent enough for those who don't eat much at hot pots. Honestly me and my boyfriend thought it was uncomfortable to eat there but other than all it was good.

We joined the waitlist and were 11th in line so we weren't sure if we'd get a spot before the kitchen closed at 2:30pm. Thankfully the waitlist moved quickly and a table was ready at 2pm. We ordered a seafood pancake and each got a sundubu jjigae with the rice. The pancake was delicious- crispy and flavorful. Our tofu soups with beef came out shortly after. I got the regular spice level but could have definitely gotten it spicier. Overall, my rating would be closer to a 4.5 because instead of the hot stone bowl rice we were just given a bowl of rice which was unfortunate and they also didn't have cups for us until midway through our meal when we asked. They were very busy and they just opened so understandable. Otherwise, I'm excited to have an authentic a delicious Korean restaurant in Madison!

I enjoyed the soft tofu and flavors from it, and honestly each dish had its own unique character to it. My only wishes would be that the Seafood Pancake to have a more crispy texture and for the Bibimbap (Beef) to have a little more meat to it. The staff members were very kind and made sure our table was well taken care of. The restaurant was very clean, but the only other complaint I would have is that there was no A/C on, and the door was left open to allow for airflow, causing a lot of smoke from outside to come into the restaurant (tobacco smell). Otherwise, I was satisfied with everything else. Each dish was full of impactful flavor, and I can understand why SGD has its hype!
