You won't go back to your local shop and their prices are much better than Firestone which is right down the street. They are honest, don't try to over charge me and always do a great job. Went here to patch a tire. Goodyear couldn't do the kind of patch I needed and directed me here. Fair prices and very honest. Jaime pronounced with an H, helped me another day. The tire I patched about a month later blew and I was far away. He was kind enough to FaceTime text and stay on the phone with me at another tire shop and help me pick the best used tire they had there and explained why one was better than the other. Later I had the rest of my tires changed with them. Jaime is always honest and I trust them very much. Took my car there for the first time for routine servicing. Bill was abnormally high. Parked my car at store on way home and tried to engage parking brake. It wouldn't budge. Went back and had them readjust. Then, a few days later, I try to turn on windshield wipers for first time, since servicing, and they don't work. This time I went to my car's dealership instead of New Sun. Mechanic at dealership said my wipers had been unplugged and wires had been jumbled. Had to pay diagnostic and labor fee to plug wipers back in. Mechanic said either it was a deliberate act, the unplugging, or gross incompetence. Neither one is good. He was leaning toward the deliberate act. Guess New Sun wanted repeat business from re the windshield wipers. Can only imagine what they would have told me and what amount I would have been quoted. read more

$340 for an oil change? This place is a total scam. They add a bunch a little Ticky tack nonsense things like "adjusting brakes" "Topping off fluids" to pad the bill. I have been here several times on the advice of a friend. The prices are very good here and even when I knew that I needed my air filter changed, they didn't automatically try to up sell me on it like I have seen at other places. The service is honest, quick and reliable. There is a small sitting area in full view of the mechanics at all times. Holy moly where do I even begin? I'll start out by saying that we had Jaime do a couple small things on our 1988 Land Cruiser and all seemed to go well. He seemed nice and knowledgable. So when the car randomly didn't start one day, we dropped by New Sun to see what Jaime thought. After taking a look, he said the distributor was not working and suggested replacing it. We agreed only to get back a car with a completely blown engine. I kid you not. On top of that, he charged us $800 for replacing the distributor - $500 of that was for the cost of a distributor. Needless to say, we were blown away. We requested the parts receipt which Jaime absolutely refused to show us. We knew that distributors cost about $200 so we knew he was definitely ripping us off and he kept trying to persuade us that he got a really "nice" part and that it definitely cost $500. Clearly, Jaime is very dishonest. After dealing with this, we towed the car to Pep Boys who wouldn't even touch the car. Pep Boys said that whoever worked on the car last did such poor work that they themselves did not want the liability of working on the car next! The mechanic at Pep Boys said that "the guy who worked on it last has no idea what he is doing" - wow. So then we towed the car again to the mechanic that rebuilt the engine when we first purchased the car only a year ago. He had to completely take apart the engine and rebuild all of the blown bits. We discovered that the original distributor had zero defects and was in fact, working properly. The distributor that Jaime installed was not the right size or fit, which threw off the whole engine causing it to blow. Rebuilding the engine took over a month and over $2500! We of course tried to communicate this to Jaime who was not only unapologetic but tried to completely deny causing any of the damage. Yelpers, I have never felt this misguided and I can't possibly comprehend how this company has gotten this many stars. Needless to say, do not take your car here. You will not only get screwed, you will have a careless, dishonest dude poke around in your car when he has no experience or knowledge in doing so and possibly cause thousands of dollars in damage. I wish I could reverse time and take back any of the business we gave them. Worst experience ever. read more

Not a great experience for me here at all. I've given myself several days here to settle but I'm still not feeling right about the service at New Sun Auto. I was on a road trip and took a vehicle in for a simple oil change. Just and oil change. When I came back for my vehicle I had a bill for $93 and change. Yikes! Well, turns out the guys there decided I wanted a new air filter installed with my oil change on my behalf. I asked them why they did that and they said "because the old one was dirty"... Yes, I appreciate the heads up, but I can't imagine its standard practice to replace parts or do work unless you're told to. Right? I had left my phone number with them so there was no excuse not to call and ask if I wanted a new filter or anything else. Anyway, I had the guys take out the new air filter and put the old one back in (I guess it is nice to see they did indeed put a new one in and not just "put a new one in" but its still shady practice in my opinion). Regardless of that the standard oil change I had was $63 for regular 'ole 5W-30 and a filter. Not sure what the advertised prices of $19.99 oil changes were for but at that point I just wanted to be out of there. I am a very trusting fella and always give the benefit of the doubt when dealing with anyone I'm not familiar with and I was very happy with the initial customer service I received at New Sun Auto. It's quite a bummer that they lived up to the stereotypical mechanic shop giving you stuff you don't need or doing stuff without you knowing. The last few times I had oil changes here in Wisconsin I paid $22. I know California's expensive, but not $63 for an oil change expensive. read more

Located kind of in the middle of some junker shops and I wondered why this shop only had high end cars lined up. The reason: they are great. They had to replace the vinyl cover of an arm pad on my Toyota Tundra. The color is kind of an odd brick color and I was concerned about matching it.
