Literally a scam. I drive through a lot of alleys and regularly have nails in my tires, in the last year I had to repair my tires about 8 times. My go to tire shop is in Northridge, so I was waiting for an opportunity to go there and repair my tires, meanwhile I just put air into the tire with a nail at the shell gas station which is literally 5 meters away. It was raining today and the machine seemed broken, then I saw their tire repair advertisement starting at 25$, nothing can be more simple than a perfectly stuck nail, they told me that they only accept cash, it was kinda sketchy to me. There was an young guy and an older man, I am not against young guys learning, but it should be supervised, the older man just let the guy do the job. My air pressure light was still on when they said they finished, and told me that the computer needs some time to adjust. But I have experience when it comes to tire repair on my car, and told them to check the pressure again, and then the older man checked the bolts, so as long as I knew that my air pressure was good when I left the store and all the bolts were tightened good I didn't care because at least I would not die. I paid them cash and left, they did not offer me a receipt or anything, so if their unprofessionalism would cause any harm to me or my car I wouldn't be able to even say anything. Should be a 1 star review, but I cannot tell if the tire was actually repaired, so if it starts leaking again I will change to 1 star. read more

Sooooo Happy to find a true , honest professional ! I took my car to "jiffy Lube" for an oil change, When they were done, there was a Huge oil leak , Since my car is a 2002 Toyota 4 -runner, they told me that " these things happen -in a 17 year old car" anyway, got a few quotes to fix the oil leak, 2 mechanics said 550 dollars. I went To David"s auto repair- still had his number on my phone from his changing a radiator hose a few years back. He gave me a GREAT price ! 340 dollars plus, since the spark plug area would be exposed, he would change the spark plugs . No extra charge! Efficient and thorough!! I would HIGHLY recommend bringing your car to David's. My car had a list of problems and it needed a smog test. They not only fixed everything for a great price but they took it next door to get smog tested for me. Not all mechanics are created equal, and Cacho is truly a find. A friend recommended me to David/Cacho 4 years ago, and I have grown to trust him completely. His rates are very reasonable, and he helps me keep on top of my car maintenance and understand what to prioritize when money is tight. I take my car in every 3 months for an oil change (usually about $22) and he taps off all the fluids, adds air to my tires, and looks it over to make sure it's in good condition. If there was a shirt, "I love my mechanic" I would wear it. WARNING: The shop is a bit hard to find (it's almost in an alley). Do NOT mistake his shop for Kartek - I had a VERY bad experience with them when I mistakenly walked into their shop instead. Cacho's is just to the left! read more

David is the third mechanic/auto repair shop that I have dealt with in two weeks (not including the ones over phone/ e-mail) and has been the most communicative and straight forward. He explained what was meant by "tune-up" (something other mechanics would not do-- ?!?) and he included things in the tune-up that other mechanics tried to charge extra for--leaking gasket repair, transmission flush etc. And the prices were great. I brought an old Ford F250 truck to them for heater repairs: Quick and reasonable. Then I brought them a Rock Crawler for a tune-up and some axle maintenance: Quick and reasonable. They've also done some work on my Nissan Xterra belt tensioner in, yes, a quick and reasonable manner. David is a pleasure to deal with and he listens to you. Sometimes troubleshooting is a process, and these guys are willing to help you go through it. It's a small shop, but these guys can fix any vehicle. The service is better than ever and we have a number of cars from our family and extended family getting serviced there. David has had plenty of chances to screw up or over-charge us and he just REFUSES! Cacho's is located right where Gateway peels off south from Pico Blvd, on the west side of the street in a little automotive mini-mall. When you pull into the parking lot, you will see an opening between buildings that you can drive through. As you go about 20 feet into this opening, you will see the auto bay for Cacho's. I have been a customer of David's since 2003 - shortly after I moved back to LA from NY. I had been a customer of Cacho's Auto (the original name of the business before David took it over) from the mid-late 90's (before moving to NY). When I returned to LA in 2003 and bought a friend's 1990 Mitsubishi Montero (with 189,000 miles on it!), I knew I needed a great AND honest mechanic. I went back to Cacho's Auto, where I met David (the new owner); it ended up being the most fortuitous event for me and would become a long and trusted customer experience. David would keep my SUV running well for another decade, while ALWAYS being fair and honest with his estimates and evaluation of my vehicle. I could continue writing another several 1,000 words about how good David has been to me over the years, but suffices to say, "Honest and gifted mechanics are worth their weight in gold in this town." David is 100% THAT person. I'm happy to report that my niece just moved here from the east coast (a college graduate/Class of 2020) 6 weeks ago. They went above and beyond taking the car to their neighbor, an official smog check facility. When services were done, all I had to do was pay and be on my way. I have found my new mechanic. I needed a new bumper and other minor body work and I stupidly gave the shop the insurance company's estimate, realizing later the shop could easily just charge me what the insurance company estimated, leaving me with a $750 deductible. Instead, David told me that he could do all the work I needed for what the insurance company was willing to pay, meaning I didn't have to pay the deductible. A truly honest and fair mechanic! The work came out GREAT and looks brand new. It was also done even faster than David estimated despite it being Thanksgiving weekend. The shop is a bit hard to find, hidden between two other shops in the same shopping plaza, but certainly worth finding. Thanks again David!!! read more

Cacho's was excellent. My car broke down nearby and I was late to my first day of work!! I hopped a bus and called Cacho from the road. They went and found my car, towed it in, and fixed it quickly and for a reasonable price. They also kept me posted on all the work they were doing and what the costs were as they were going. When I couldn't get to the shop until after they closed, they let me pay over the phone and pick up my car late. Very accommodating and helpful people in a difficult situation. They also speak 'girl-car', as in "My car was making a SHH-POW noise, and then it died." I'm really happy that my car died in their area! read more

I left my car and an hour later he called with a diagnosis and two different possible remedies, including exact price quotes. I like the man but here's my experience. The first time you go to him with a problem, he gives you a great deal. After that, not so much. I've found that his prices creep up and sometimes he simply charges too much. So I don't go to him as much as I used to. The problem is that in this area there are not many good and honest mechanics so you have to shop around. read more
