3 maki: avo eel, sweet potato, & crazy

Finally got to check out this Brighton location, a little sad froyo hype is over, but hello to sushi and poke. No sushiritos at this location, or did they stop selling them?! No more slips of paper to order your customized bowl of poke, so you'll have to say everything you want. I came with a pretty big group for a late lunch and there was enough room for all of us. I shared a 3 maki combo and it for the price you pay, the sushi is good. A great place to come satisfy your sushi cravings in Brighton for an affordable price.

Decided to come here for lunch with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. It was fairly quiet, with maybe people at two tables. You walk in and directly to your right is the ordering station. There are stacks of papers and pencils and all you have to do is check mark what you would like in your bowl or burrito; a build your own bowl concept. Anyways, I got the bowl with brown rice, corn, seaweed salad, imitation crab meat, avocado, nori, and had salmon as my base. I also chose the ponzu sauce. Reasonably priced and they give a decent amount of toppings for what it's worth. Sat down and there are utensils and water by the sides to help yourself. The poke bowl was really filling, a little too filling, but I guess that's worth my money because there are other poke shops in Boston that jip you out. If I have a craving for poke, then this is the spot and I love how conveniently this place is located.

Nothing out of the ordinary for a poke place. I had an intense craving for poke one day and decided to come here. The bowl was pretty bland and didn't have that much flavor, aside from the drizzle of sauce. The topping to rice ratio could also be better. I will say, however, the online ordering system is very convenient and fast. The interior is bright and clean, and it's a good place to go with a couple of friends - I probably wouldn't come here again but it did its job.

So bad. The "shrimp protein" is about one shrimp badly coated in soggy breading and cut up into smaller pieces.

I feel bad giving them one star because it's Covid times but this place was seriously bad. I tried it once a few weeks ago and thought I would try it again before reviewing. The ingredients that they use are poor quality and not fresh. As you can see in the picture, the shrimp protein option is equivalent to about ONE small shrimp covered in soggy breading and cut up into pieces. Such a rip off. The salmon and tuna did not taste fresh at all. The tuna looks artificially pink and the salmon had browned (though maybe just a piece of fat but it was unsightly). They used way too much rice on the bottom. Also the corn tasted like bland canned corn that they just dumped on. Same with the crab meat.

It has taken me a while to try this place considering I live RIGHT there. Something about it never drew me right to it. I decided to order in so I could see the topping options (as opposed to ordering online and coming in to pick it up). However, when I arrived, they had me fill out a paper in which I checked off which choices I wanted and then they made my bowl. I have this grievance with any place that does it this way instead of the typical chipotle-style build a bowl where they build it as you tell them, and then charge you. My issue with this is that it takes longer and there is more room for error. I also like to see the ingredients as I might want something different upon seeing that something looks great (or not so good...) I got a bowl of sushi rice, tuna and salmon, cucumber, carrots, seaweed salad, avocado, topped with spicy mayo and crunchy scallions. I had actually asked for spicy mayo on the side, but they put it on top. I saw the guy who made my bowl awkwardly fidgeting for a minute, then grabbed a new bowl to remake mine. I took it as is - I was gonna eat it anyway. Fish was fresh and toppings were good and flavorful. Next time, I'll try the ginger sauce as that seems to be a popular choice. Maybe I'll come back for a sushirito. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to come here, but with the added convenience factor, it is a solid choice.

New Sushi has been a staple in our apartment both before and during the pandemic. We are big fans of the create your own protein bowl but have also tried their gyozas and "dons". Everything is always good and we'll portioned. We can always rely on this place for a delicious, filling meal.

Ordering is easy and is minimal human interaction. There are pens and slips of paper near the windows on the right side when you walk. Mark your orders and bring it to the cashier. All you have left is to pay. Can customize your orders to whatever you want! They make your order immediately. You can choose to sit and/or to watch them make your pokebowls or sushi burritos. The pokebowls are fairly large and they definitely aren't frugal with ingredients. My favorite touch was adding the crisps at the end. Nicely flavored and the crunch is fun. The place is for ordering, sit in and eat. No waiting service. Great place to hang out with your groups and chatting. The bowls end up being a little less than $12 each.

One of my absolute fav sushi spots in Allston! Maki rolls and poke bowls have always been fresh and delicious and at a great price for the area. Definitely recommend their all day special - Pick 2 Rolls for $10

As solid of a sushi/poke place can be. Prices are reasonable and portions are good. This is the value pick for sushi lovers. If you're in need of a quick and light lunch this is the place for you. Food: See pic (65%) Taste to price 4/5 Quality to price 4/5 Portion to price 4/5 Average = 4 Service (20%) Friendliness 3.5/5 Promptness 3.5/5 Average = 3.5 Cleanliness (15%) Bathroom 4/5 Dining area 5/5 Kitchen area 5/5 Average = 4.67 Overall Score = [F(.65)]+[S(.20)]+C(.15)] = [2.6]+[0.7]+[0.7] = 4 What else to know: This place opened up not too long ago. I'm glad Allston finally has a fast casual sushi restaurant. The only other similar place is in the Super 88 food court which is just OK in my book. What I really like is the ability to customize and see my orders made in front of me. They're set up much like a Chipotle where the sushi is made via assembly line. Go in, grab an order sheet (by the window) and check off the items you want. Trust me, it'll make the process much faster. Head over to the counter, pay and watch them make it for you. There you will see the decent selection of ingredients. They're usually fresh and well maintained. My one gripe are the sauces. I wish they had sriracha or low sodium soy sauce as I'm not really a fan of the mayonnaise or sweet sauces. Overall, as mentioned before this place is very solid. They will see me more often for my lunches with my own bottle of sriracha. **If you enjoyed my review, follow or add me as a friend. I have tons of reviews like this.

A solid sushi spot if you're in a pinch and want someplace cheap, quick, and filling. It's a quaint restaurant right by the intersection of Commonwealth and Brighton Ave. The raw fish is not as fresh as it could be, but you shouldn't be expecting tremendous quality for these prices. I've gone here a few times now, and there poke bowls are consistently filling and they don't skimp out on the raw fish like some poke places do. They also don't break the bank either which is a big plus for me, when all I want is a fixing of raw fish. On the negative side, they often do go overboard on the spicy mayo, which plays a part to bloating me afterwards, but you can always ask for less. My girlfriend who doesn't eat raw fish also enjoys the options of chicken and shrimp tempura in her poke, so it's always a happy option for the two of us. All in all, it's a decent spot for poke or sushi. The workers there sometimes seem a little bored with the lack of business, but respectfully it should be getting more business than it is. It's in a convenient location, has good poke, and great prices!

I mean, I've heard of rhdjdjd before, but my dislike for American corndog from a young age has kept me completely oblivious to an other version. Just a very select few times in my life, I have eaten something so good, it's made me question everything around me. Korean corndog?!? How could I have lived this long and overlook something so good? It is nothing like the corndogs we are used to in America. The panko is everything. The crunchy texture paired with the oooooeeeyyy gooooeyy cheese makes this what I can only describe as a eutrophic experience. Yes the corndog is phenomenal, but the crispy chicken sliders alone would have been worth the trip. The crunchy, light and airy breading is perfection. Paired with house made pickles, spicy mayo and a pillowy soft bun, and a honey teriyaki pineapple glaze crispy chicken. I did not come here for any sort of chicken item, but unexpectedly, this is easily a top 3 chicken sandwich/slider I've ever had. This little restaurant is dangerous. The menu is simply irresistible. Kimchi papi may be small in footprint, but it packs a huge punch to the tastebuds.

The food was outstanding from start to finish, and it's honestly one of the best values around for the quality you get. The Morning Donuts were incredible. We got the blueberry but they also had a cream cheese one. They were fresh, warm, and absolutely delicious with the blueberry purée . The home fries were seasoned to perfection and included onions and peppers which is a small detail a lot of bfast places will skip but makes them so much tastier. We ordered the Big Fat Greek Omelette, and it definitely lived up to its name. It was packed with fillings, loaded from end to end, and every bite was great. The breakfast sandwich was great, for only 13.75, my fresh egg was cooked exactly as asked and the sandwich came with avocado which most places charge $3-4 for the premium ingredient, as well as home fries. On top of the food, the service was excellent. Our server Kelsey was friendly, attentive, and funny making the whole brunch experience even better. I first walked in on a quiet evening and was immediately welcomed by a bartender whose warmth set the tone for the night. His martini was nicely executed, clean, and crisp, while a gin and tonic proved equally thoughtful, bright and refreshing with a balanced botanical profile. Beyond the drinks, what stood out was the conversation: attentive without being intrusive, the kind of interaction that makes a place feel instantly familiar. That sense of care carried through every layer of the experience, and it became even more apparent upon meeting Chef Joel. His passion is unmistakable, not performative, but deeply rooted in craft. It reveals itself most clearly on the plate. Returning the following evening with friends, the energy shifted into something more convivial yet equally refined. A well-curated selection of local and international beers set an easy tone, while the cocktail program continued to impress with consistency and balance. Then came the food. A feta cream, silky, rich, and delicately tangy, arrived topped with balsamic and green vegetables, served alongside warm naan. It was a deceptively simple dish elevated by precision: the interplay of sweet and salty notes, the contrast of textures, all working in quiet harmony. The oysters followed, indulgently buttery and impeccably fresh, a testament to careful sourcing and restraint in preparation. But the standout of the evening was the braised short rib. Tender to the point of surrender, it rested on a bed of velvety mashed potatoes, accompanied by baked carrots that added both sweetness and depth. It was a dish that felt both comforting and refined--executed with confidence and respect for its ingredients. Dessert, a chocolate cake, closed the evening on a high note, rich without excess, the kind of final course that lingers pleasantly rather than overwhelms. Throughout it all, the service never faltered. The waitstaff was attentive and intuitive, the bartenders engaging and skilled, and the kitchen clearly driven by both discipline and love for the craft. Hopewell Bar & Kitchen is more than just a place to eat or drink, it's a space where people who care deeply about what they do come together to create something memorable. And that, ultimately, is what keeps you coming.
