The drinks here are ridiculously sweet. They offer sweetness levels and I opted for the half sugar option of the passion fruit black tea and it was still way sweeter than any other place I've had. There's not many tapioca places in the northwest area so I was excited to see this pop up on Yelp. I decided to satisfy my milk tea craving right away. They offer many samples! And the samples aren't old, they make them fresh. Just a small sample size after they make customer drinks for the next ones to taste. My boyfriend purchased a dirty chai tea latte and the gentleman making the drink brought us a taste before he poured the cup to see if it was to his liking. That's superb customer service. Definitely deserves the average rating of 5 stars. Let me be frank for a second here - boba is boba. There's bad or mediocre boba that you wouldn't go back to get, and then there's good boba. In my earnest opinion ... there's pretty no difference in taste between decent boba places. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It tastes good. The store and owner are what make the difference. The place has a very nice ambiance and really good upkeep. It'd be a great place to chill at. The owner is super friendly and welcoming. I've come to this place twice, once when I visited Houston in 2016, and once very recently after I moved to Houston. Both times, the owner told us that we could sample their many different drink types from several iced bins on the counter. The owners are super friendly and so willing to help you to decide what to get. They have free samples of the majority of their drinks menu. And if you don't like things too sweet, they even let you manage the amount of sweet in your drinks. I tried this croissant ham sandwich which was made to perfection. It was toasted really well and they added some mustard to it that gave it a nice kick of flavor. It felt like my mom made it. Very nice place, they display a lot antique tea-making pots and utensils. Saw the reviews and wanted to check it out. Not too far off of our normal travel areas + open until 10 PM = +2 points. The parking lot is small and might be hard to maneuver around if you drive the bigger vehicles. They do have 2 spaces right in front reserved for patrons. I walked in around 7pm and there was a party of 4 in the back area near the TV and a couple already at the register. I checked out the menu on the wall and didn't see my go to honey green tea with extra honey. I was about to order the Vietnamese coffee but decided to see if they can make my special request. I was glad that they said they could actually make my hgt and paid. The seating area is quite large for a bubble tea place. The drink itself was quite good even though it's not one of their regular concoctions. The tapioca was on the soft side and sweet if that is a plus or minus based on your preferences. I really wanted to like the place. The place was in fact, very inviting and relaxing. The lighting was dim, there was no loud music, and there were all these nice tea pots on display in the middle of the room. There are couches and board games for you to actually sit and spend some time there with your friends. But driving there was a pain in the butt with all the small streets and traffic...etc. Parking was limited too. I went at 3:00pm on a Wednesday and there were only 2 empty spots left with only 4 people in the shop. The boba was chewy (good) but there's no flavor. I didn't taste any brown sugar or honey that they're supposed to soak the bobas in. I ordered a Blended Thai Tea (smoothie). It was okay. I've had better. It was diluted, it wasn't "Thai" enough, and it wasn't sweet enough. I almost thought it was just regular milk tea. Everything needed more flavor! Look at the color! Does that look like Thai Tea to you? Well, it cost me $4.60. Now that in Houston is pretty pricey. Service is friendly though. I wouldn't return. This place is so cute. It has nice seating areas. They also have samples at the front which is perfect!! They have a large menu so it gave me an idea of what I wanted to drink. Parking: The parking lot in front of the store is very tiny. But they have a sign that says you can park in the print shop's parking lot (after 5 PM I think?) or near the Chinese restaurant to its right. So have plenty of parking if the front parking lot is full. Time and Day: Came on a Sunday around 5:30 PM and it was not busy at all. Food: I ordered the taro mixed with chocolate ($4.80) and was excited to try this flavor out (I love taro flavor). However, it didn't really made a big difference to me. If I were to order this again, I would ask for more chocolate to be inserted into the drink. Otherwise, I wouldn't notice a different in it. I am happy to know that they mix different flavors for you so if you want to try something new, you have many options to create. Overall, this drink was not special compare to other tapioca flavors so it gets a 3/5. Service: The service is noticeably much better than other tapioca places. First they give you an option to sample different flavors and mixes in these little containers near the cashier (I got the tapioca mixed with chocolate). Second, they are so friendly here! I was greeted when I arrived and the owners said good bye with a nice smile to me as I was leaving. It is great to see that friendly kind of service that I usually never see at other tapioca places. Service gets a 5/5. Price: The drinks are between $4 and $5 if you are getting tapioca too. I don't see much of a difference in price between here and many places on Bellaire. Overall: This place reminds me of Kim's Teahouse but with a lot better service. The drinks are decent, but the service is very friendly and they have free samples for you to try. When I first came here, I didn't think the tapioca drinks tasted the way they should. They were too sweet and sugary. So I never came back. Then I guess the place got bought over or something and got a new owner cause Now the place is definitely changed. -Very clean,nice place to hang out especially since it is so close to home. I'm used to having to drive to midtown or bellaire for tapioca. The tea taste great and reminds me of Teahouse sometimes ... I was really close to a tea brewer/master at Teahouse on Shepherd. He was really kind, had great customer service and was the one that came up with alot of the teas on their menu. I didn't see him for a really long time...Come to find out, Ling owns Tapioca Master now!!! Ling and his family have got to be the reason for the changes at Tapioca Master. But anyways, they have many different drink options to choose from that taste yummy! I am sad to hear that the original owners are no longer here, but my family and I will continue to support this business. Tapioca master has always been one of my favorite boba shops in Houston, and I almost always stop by when I'm in the area. The previous owners have always provided us with some of the best service we have ever received from any establishment. They're the only boba shop that I know of that offers samples of their drinks so you can try it before you order! I stopped by recently, and even though we didn't see our usual friendly faces, the drinks were still as amazing as ever. I hope you all give this place a chance whenever you're nearby.
