Me and my girlfriend love this place so much!!! Everytime we come in the 2 guys always working are smiling and super friendly, today they recognized us and remembered our order and it made us so happy. This is our favorite spot and the boba here is always the perfect consistency and the drinks are super flavorful and always so so so good!! We love formosa and we love the workers

Why 4 stars? Because if we lived nearby, we would definitely stop in here often. --- --- --- I've had Formosa bookmarked for quite a while now, and we finally stopped in to visit. I understand why they have such great reviews because the customer service here is top notch. Both of the people working here could not have been more friendly. I was incredibly tempted to order the chocolate banana smoothie only because it's a bit different of an item that you'll see at a typical boba shop. But I ended up being boring and and going with my usual: taro/coconut. My honest feedback here is that it was good, not great. It could have used a tad more sweetness. One of the people working here mentioned that they do a hot taro drink, which definitely piqued my interest. I have never had boba in a hot beverage before and would definitely love to try it in the future, as well as that chocolate banana concoction.

Famosas bubble tea never disappoints! I am on a no caffeine, no sugar thing right now, so I got a yummy Rose, hibiscus tea. Hubby gets a mango slush and my teens like the vanilla latte. The owners are super friendly. And they have a point system to earn free drinks.

I didn't know it wasn't unsweetened so if you do ask for one make sure to ask to add sweetener if you want your tea sweetened. Many varieties of flavors I haven't seen before. Everyone is very nice and welcoming! Highly recommend!

My boba cravings are random and are uncontrollable to the point that I have driven to Chinatown from Cypress to get my boba fix. One day I had to fill up gas before going back to my apartment by Telge and Grant. I was at the gas station and saw that there a shop in the corner of the parking lot that said something about a teahouse. This peaked my interest and I hesitantly drove there not knowing what I was getting myself into. Normally I try to make judgements about places only after I get the stuff from there but this time the place was so cute that I just couldn't stop adoring it from the moment I walked in. During the pandemic they have markers on the floor making social distancing enforcements palpable and a sign at the entrance that tells you no entry without a mask. These little things make such a big difference when you are trying to find places to go to during these times. First time I tried the brown sugar milk tea boba and while I liked the boba I forgot to mention them to keep the sweetness at 50% level. Thankfully it was so good that I drank it all before I reached my apartment in Montrose. Next time (yesterday) I got the Japanese green tea milk tea with coconut jelly (50% sweetness, I remembered this time lol) and omg. I went to get a little something sweet because I was hitting my 3 o'clock slump while working from home and it was exactly what I needed. The 50% sugar level was not too sweet and the coconut jelly created the perfect balance between the natural taste of the tea with the sweetness from the coconut jelly. Today, I was craving something a little more intense and since my mom was home I decided to get her a drink as well. This time I tried the Vietnamese ice coffee and the buckwheat milk tea. The buckwheat milk tea has similarities to the green tea except it's caffeine free. This was a perfect selling point for me because my mom doesn't drink caffeine. The tea was 25% sweetness with coconut jelly and my mom is now a bubble tea fan! The Vietnamese ice coffee is what I needed to get throughout the day. Bonus points for their reward system! You can enter your phone number and it will send you alerts letting you know how many points you have and when they are going to expire! I can't wait till I have my next boba craving when I am in Cypress because I know exactly where I'll be going to get my fix! PS I am not sure if the people working there are the owners but they are SUPER friendly and EXTREMELY helpful in trying to guide you to make a decision regarding what to order according to your preferences.

Bubble tea, Boba tea, or tapioca tea, etc. Its the same thing and the best you can find in the area is Here! The owner is very genuine and humble. The basic unsweetened Formosa milk tea I had and the interior design remind me of my hometown. I usually request not to add additional sugar in my drinks cuz I like to taste the tea flavor in my milk tea. However, I did not have any luck to find a decent drink until Formosa Bubble tea house. The drink I had was well balanced.

A hidden gem when it shouldn't be! I can't believe I lived in the area for three years without knowing such an amazing boba shop was within five minutes of my home. I always drove down to Bellaire to get my boba fix. The store is extremely clean and the drinks are very authentic, like real Taiwanese tapioca drinks. Sooo good. I'll be going here almost daily from now on!

So my husband just visited and he calls and asked me what tea that I wanted I said peach tea with boba and I thought that was the end of it lol nope. He calls back and asked what color I wanted so I thought he's talking about boba he says do you want green or black and I'm thinking oh wow they must have a new flavor of boba. No lol green tea or black tea lol so he gets home I taste this and I thought someone put something in my tea because it tastes like bush's baked beans legit lmao. It dawned on me girl you got peach flavoring with green tea and boba am I the slowest or what. I'm like well this makes since why it tastes like this lol so I'm just drinking this enjoying my mistake. Now I know better I will be back.

We love Formosa Bubble Teahouse. Derrick and Jerry are so nice. They'll explain all the drinks for you and help you decide what you might like off their large menu of hot and cold refreshments. While discussing the menu, I mentioned that my daughter is allergic to almond milk. The guys reassured me that they use a non-dairy "milk" that is not almond-based. Their flavors are fantastic and I think they have the largest selection of boba and toppings around. After the Great Texas Freeze, these guys delivered their milk products to people who needed it and provided fresh water from their filtration system for people who did not have clean water. Talk about a commendable company!!

Tried this place for the first time today and my daughter and I are already planning our next trip. We both ordered the coconut milk slushie with regular boba and it was amazing! Great Boba however their policy on outside food, when it doesn't appear that they even serve food is ridiculous. We had a toddler with us he would not allow him to eat a kolache from next door while we sat there and ordered are drinks. Simply just because of this I will never return, that is ridiculous . If you don't care about stuff like that then I highly recommend them for their boba. read more

Absolutely amazing tea house. My husband and I always try new menu items And we have never come across an item we don't like. They use sugar cane and it absolutely prevents that artificially sweet taste that you get in a lot of other drinks. These are super refreshing. You have infinite options and the owners are the most amazing people you could ask for. Give it a TES you won't be disappointed. read more

This place is a great place to hang out with friends, play some board games/card games, and enjoy a nice refreshing drink as well. I definitely enjoyed my tiger boba milk drink. The boba was a great chewy consistency and I I love milk and brown sugar mixed together. The cashier was really helpful and made sure to explain to get the best flavor out of my drink is to shake it for at least 20 seconds. I also love how at their seating areas they have a lot of outlet plugs avaliable for people to charge their phones, laptops, etc right under your seat. Would definitely recommend stopping by this place if you're nearby and thirsty! read more

Absolutely the best tea you can get in Houston, the people that own it truly care about what they do and it hasn't gone without notice. Having tried literally every tea shop in Houston, Formosa is without a doubt my favorite. Japanese Brown Rice Milk Tea and Jasmine Milk tea are my go-tos if you want a light drink! As someone who gets no-sugar everywhere I go the extra care they put into ingredients is what keeps me coming back. read more

I have driven by this place since it opened and never stopped. My teenage daughter and I visited a few weeks ago and loved it. Loved it so much that we have been back 4-5 times already! I've had 3 different tea drinks and they have all been delicious. I even asked for a drink with less sugar and they not only accommodated me but helped me think through what I would like. Super friendly. And, I'm no tea expert but it all feels quite authentic; including the menu that has it all in Chinese. A great local, family owned replacement for Starbucks. read more

Amazing place! Most robust flavors ever of any Teahouse I have ever been to. The customer service is always 110%. Privately owned business in my community and everyone loves this place. Formosa Bubble Teahouse is a traditional tea house that brings the taste of Taiwan with bubble tea that unleashes the ultimate refreshing taste.

History

Established in 2019.

Bubble tea originated in Taiwan during the 1980's. Commonly, black or green teas are used in making this delicious drink. Then, the drink is placed inside a cocktail shaker and shaken either by hand or a machine and pour into a cup. It is this shaking that creates a foam on top of the drink; hence the name "Bubble Tea". Today, there are many varieties of this drink with a wide range of flavors. The most popular ones are made with black or green tea, creamer or milk and are topped with tapioca pearls a.k.a "Boba". Back in Taiwan, during the old days, a teahouse was often a place where people gathered and socialized after school and work and/or on the weekends. Games were usually provided so people could entertain themselves while relaxing and drinking their favorite type of bubble tea. It is our goal to continue that tradition here at Formosa Bubble Teahouse while most importantly offering a variety of flavored bubble teas.

It is clearly visible, you don't need a food thermometer, it might literally be the simplest thing to cook. You can practice at home for next to nothing! When you ask for eggs for hard here, they will be close to over medium if you're lucky. Today, since they put avocado on my partners bagel I guess they decided to just add it to mine because why not? They had several, I took it to the register and asked to purchase the lanyard. She said "you mean our dog leashes!" ........... I thought she was pulling a little joke. She wasn't. I'm sorry have you seen someone walk a dog? Have you ever seen a dog leash shorter than 2 feet? Have you ever seen a dog? She genuinely begins to argue with me because she can't find the button for dog leashes in the system. (DUH girl! Because the company you work at doesn't sell dog leashes. How do I know that and you don't?) The manager walked over and chose the LANYARD button to which this young lady says snarkily "oh I guess it is a lanyard". The manager looked bewildered at her and I thought surely he will now realize how lacking his staff is. However that wasn't the case. So I beg. Please train them. Fire them. Replace them with robots please. I don't care. I'm even happy to give them gentle instruction on how to do their job if you'll at least teach them not to talk back. Don't assume they know what a lanyard, or a croissant, or a cup is because it just might be to the failure of your company. Bonus: a lot of these kids seem to not know that the source of sugar is what they call "flavoring" :) If I don't want sugar, it feels like common sense that I don't want vanilla with sugar in it? Sincerely written as a person that supports smaller coffee shops in hopes that they succeed over chains.

My family and I really love this place. It's always so clean and the owners always greet their customers with big smiles. They have a big menu with so many drink options and we haven't had anything that we didn't like so far!! I am also writing this review in respond to a negative review left by Danyang S. to this business. I was waiting for my order and saw what happened that day and I feel I need to step up and say something. This could have been avoided if the customers would just respect the owners and their store rules. The children were running around and the owners had to stop them several times. There are signs posted throughout the store that say no outside food and the owners reminded the two women multiple times not to eat inside their store but they deliberately refused to comply. They left food and crumbs everywhere and I can see why the owners were upset and asked them to leave. If I were the business owner I would have done the same. Don't play the victim when you are in the wrong!! The two men work really hard to make the place nice and clean and my family and I will continue to support them. It's unfortunate for this to happen but I also feel the need to speak up as the negative review that was posted was untrue. read more

There's a bookshelf full of board games, comfy oversized white canvas chairs. And a few signs up asking you not to stay longer than 2 hrs and buy something if you're going to take a seat. The classic milk tea was simple, textbook and tasted the way it supposed to taste. The super fruit green tea was okay but had so many ingredients/fruits that I can barely taste any tea. My go to is usually the watermelon slush because it's refreshing. Unfortunately this one failed short as the watermelon was not fresh. It tasted like it's about to expire. You can tell that it's about to go bad. The tea flavor was there though. Overall, it was alright. The service was quick & friendly. The decor is simple & it's a small spot but well put together. I really just wanted a good iced coffee and hoped they couldn't mess it up too bad. Well, I was pleasantly surprised! The owner was friendly and engaging, and quickly recommended the chai. I wanted an iced drink, so I settled on an iced chai latte, prepared less sweet. It was excellent. Since the samosa's are made in house, I grabbed one of those as well. The Vietnamese iced coffee with ube foam--or honestly, any of their foams--is incredible. It's authentic, strong, and packed with flavor.
