I came here a few times, mainly to satisfy my poutine craving. Most recently I got the large bacon double cheese and it filled three peoples' stomachs, which means their portions are great! Every time I went, there was enough cheese sauce and bacon, however each time there were never enough cheese curds, which was disappointing since that's the best part of poutine to me. Also, the cheese curds were not very squeaky/springy. I give this place a three star. I got the plain dog and it was good. They added some good ketchup and mustard, but the fries were not that good actually but they gave us a big box. My man got a pulled pork dog and he writes that in 8 out of 10. He rates the fries 8 out of 10, but they were not that good to me. And our total came out to $27 which I thought was weird because my plain dog was supposed to be five dollars so they charged me extra money Also I like their drinks because they come in a box cup, so they don't use plastic, which I thought was pretty cool thanks New York fries!! read more

Had a craving for both fries and curry and landed on NYF due to an unfortunate mishap. The fries and butter chicken were delicious until I started getting to the middle/bottom. Only the top had butter chicken and cheese. After eating a little, I tried to mix it all together but there wasn't enough sauce to cover the fries. It became sad plain fries, which I didn't like. Large was bigger than I expected! Next time I would get small/regular. Large is definitely for sharing! Service was quick and it was just in a food court. I used a reward in my loyalty app for a free pop with purchase and there weren't any problems. There was a small line in front but it moved quickly. The wait time for my poutine was fast, as it took less than a minute for them to make it. I chose the regular sized "the works" poutine at $8.25. They also have a large sized poutine at $12.25 that isn't much bigger but at a whopping $4 more i think is kinda overpriced. It should be $10-$11 at most. "The works" comes with beef chilli, fries, sour cream, cheese sauce, green onions, and bacon bits. It was actually pretty good. It did not taste as amazing as I had hoped but it was better than I expected. The melted cheese was mostly at the bottom though so it could have been mixed better. For the pop, I chose coke but it was a little watered down. They let you get free refills at least. One thing they used to offer which is no longer available probably due to the pandemic is an assortment of condiments like seasoning salts and salty sauces that you can put on top of your meal for extra flavor. You used to be able to help yourself at the counter and they even had cups for it. I really missed that. Overall their poutine is pretty good (but not the best) and I would come back if i'm craving it. 4 stars. read more

Reading the other reviews here and I don't agree on giving 1 star for poor service but good food. It's a food court for goodness sake. Anyways, I've been eating NYF since I was little and this place probably gives the most gravy for the poutine. Other places that don't give a lot result in the cheese not melting and you're left with eating chunks of cheese. By the way if anyone is wondering, their original gravy is mushroom/soy based, so it is vegetarian. If anything, their original gravy is better than their braised beef gravy. I haven't tried other things at this specific place so I can't say for those. read more

Took a shortcut through the Pacific Centre to get out from the cold when I happened to walk by. It was late and shops were beginning to close so I picked up some Original Poutine to go. Gosh damn it smelled so good. I would have eaten it there but since the place was closing I enjoyed it back in my hotel room enjoying French T.V. Go elsewhere. New York fries is great. But this location....? It never ceases to underperform. I love poutine, so that's my usual go to. But expect half as much cheese as is shown in the pictures or any other location would serve. They even cheap out on the gravy. So little that it's just the top layer that get anything. Strange to need ketchup for your poutine; but ask for it. Because half your fries are dry with no gravy or cheese. Drawn back again and again by the pictures and hope that they'll deliver. But it's obviously a conscious management decision to cheap out on the toppings. I've ordered with extra cheese in the past and it's the same amount on there. So don't waste your money. Originally when I was walking past this place, I thought about trying one of their famous hotdogs. After completing my order and taking my first bite, it wasn't as great as I thought it would be. I just got a plain hotdog because I wanted to play it safe. I felt as if a hot dog from a gas station would have tasted better than this. Just did not meet my expectations. Had the poutine. Ignoring the cold, unmelted curds, it was OK. What grossed me out was watching you pull your smartphone from your pocket and play with it while preparing food. Dude, even if you don't Anthony Weiner your phone--really, how would I know--Google "is your phone dirtier than a public toilet". You are apparently the manager because you also helped the cashier get some more change. And then you made entries in a log book. And then you returned to food prep without washing your hands. I had my first poutine fix at the Pacific Centre food court. It was right below our hotel and I wasn't about to go out into the heat again. The combination of fries with gravy and cheese worked! I shared the regular size treat with one other person. It was a nice late-night snack. Pretty good for a food court. I actually think NYF's fries are alright. Sure it's a little soggy, but it's the right size for me and you can tell it's from a real potato. This place cleaned up well. They've taken care of all the concerns I had from the last visit, which included cold toppings, I melted cheese curds, hygiene issues and rude staff. I'm pleased to see a well staffed store where the cashier never had to handle your food, it just makes things much more sanitary. Service is speedy and the staff are polite. Rudest customer service I've ever experienced and this is coming from someone who's worked in food/retail so I'm not acting privileged here. My friend and I were not greeted when we approached the counter. When I gave my order, the guy rudely asked "What?" with an annoyed expression. I know there's one hour left of your shift, but at least fake it till you make it dude. He then was like "Small or regular" before I could tell him. didn't ask me if I wanted anything else and gave my total out immediately like he wanted me gone. I then proceeded to give him my card and he slammed the thing to swipe it right on the table. Afterwards, he didn't even thank me. The fries came out quick and tasted ok. I have tried a lot of poutine in Vancouver and this has to be one of my favourites. Especially as the fries are salty and crispy

The poutine is nothing special. It's ok if it's the only one around but I'd rather go to Frtiz's or even Costco. The fries aren't that crispy, the gravy isn't that good, but I like how the cheese curds are small, unlike other places that have giant curds. read more

i was pressed for time during the vancouver trip, and hadn't tried poutine yet. i was hoping to go to the more traditional and highly rated poutine places, but had to settle for this one. so, as a tourist, i can't really compare or give some in-depth review, but i liked it ok. i took it back to my car, about a 5 minute walk away, and the cheese had melted to a nice and gooey mess. if you dump fatty ingredients on hot fries, i guess you can't go too wrong. in southern california terms, this appears to be a distant cousin of carne asada fries, dumping guacamole, cheese, sour cream and meat on fries. nice to have tried it, and someday i'll try a more authentic version to give poutine a fair shake. . read more

It was the last day to pick my free fries, this was the closest location. Awful! The fries were stale and had a lot of small hard bits that were probably fried many times. The Richmond Centre location offers larger cut fries without the stale bits. read more
