We needed a place to stop for lunch and followed the signs from the highway to J+P. I was going to get a quick slice of pizza, before glancing the menu and seeing the pasta primavera! I ordered it and it tasted exactly like the recipe of my childhood italian restaurant that no longer exists. It was 10/10, and so was the garlic bread they gave me with it. Our serve, Cole, I believe was very personable and kind. The hostess were also very kind. We had a mixed experience here. The calamari came on a big plate but the portion itself was pretty small. We also weren't given plates or silverware, which was inconvenient. I ordered the Maryland crab soup and it was barely warm when it arrived. The flavor was strange and not what I'd expect, although it did have noticeable chunks of crab meat. We were seated in the party room in the back, where there were about eight kids who were extremely loud. On top of that, there was a cold draft coming in from the windows and door, which made the space uncomfortable. On a positive note, the pasta was good and came with garlic bread. However I asked for angel hair pasta and they gave me linguine. Coffee took a long time to come out. We actually finished our cake before it arrived. When it finally did, the coffee itself was decent. Overall, some good elements, but the service timing, temperature issues, and seating situation really took away from the experience. read more

I so want this place to be awesome because I love supporting local businesses but instead it's meh. I think they do as well as they do, due to lack of options in the area. The food is ok, nothing special. As a New Yorker, I would say it's not fair to rate MD pizza but they use NY in their name so I have to say, NY pizza it is not. The service was terrible. Apparently the server found it more important to socialize rather than tend to tables. I had to go to the bar and request a server. When the check was brought, again the server disappeared, had to go back to the bar to cash out. I never write reviews, but I felt so drawn to leave this one that I'm doing it while still in the car on the way home. I ordered a delivery order through Uber eats and unfortunately received the wrong order. I'm not sure if that's a delivery driver thing or a restaurant thing, but I called the restaurant to ask if my order happened to still be there and it was. I decided to drive over really quickly to grab it myself. The man you answered the phone when I called was very apologetic and wanted to offer me a free dessert or free drinks or something. When I arrived, the young boy at the takeout counter was so polite and respectful and apologetic, and he also insisted on offering Something for free for the inconvenience. So we got to come home with a peanut butter chocolate pie. My point in this review... Mistakes happen. And like I said earlier, I'm not sure if this mistake was on the restaurants part or the delivery drivers part. But either way, we are all humans living life for the first time lol I think what matters the most is how you handle those mistakes and errors, even when the errors may not even be your Mistake. I have ordered pizzas from Spring Ridge for the last 10 years and have been extremely happy with their pizzas until recently, the last 2 to 3 months. Lately, my pizzas have been skimpy on toppings. Although I originally thought it was a minor glitch, it doesn't seem that way after ordering three pizzas with skimpy toppings. I also think they crust from what it was three months ago. The pizza is at Spring Ridge are not cheap and I'm willing to pay for a great product but at this point I feel the need to find aa different pizza place to order from. Had to come to the area to meet with one of my fraternity brothers. I was so hungry because I had skipped lunch and J&P was the closest option. On a week day there wasn't much of a crowd so when I got there it was easy to be seated. Waitress was nice and attentive. Menu is typical pizza restaurant food. I chose a cheese steak sub. It came with either chips or a side of fries. I chose the fries and ordered a Miller lite draft as well. Sub was good and a nice sized portion. He even confirmed the amount of thinnest I was requesting and that is also important. He asked me if I wanted crispy thin or just thin. I selected thin and OMG it was sooooo good! They're chicken and steak cheesesteaks are good as well! I also had a grilled chicken caesar salad and wasnt very impressed (just being honest) but next trip back to MD... I've had issues with this place ordering delivery through Door Dash. Most recently we waited 90 minutes before they called to inform us they would not be delivering our food and we could pick it up if we wanted to. Tonight I decided to take my son in for dinner. We waited a few minutes to be noticed and sat by the hostess. Then once sat we waited another 15 minutes without ever being greeted by a waiter/waitress. We were only 1 of maybe 3 tables sat in the dining room and still couldn't get service. It seems like they try to cut costs by hiring teenage front of house staff, but provide no training to them. Combing through the comments many others have the same experience. No matter how good the food may be, how can you support a place that has this bad of customer service? read more

We came here last night, the service was so slow it took almost two hours to get our meal. We asked for refills on drinks, and it took them at least half an hour to bring them. We had 3 children with us, which was a problem, obviously. Last night was the most horrible experience we have ever had. First of all We have been there many times but didn't realize they renovated and too the half wall down which has made the place less than family friendly. The noise level was extremely loud. Could not hear a word anyone was saying. Obviously the manager did not plan for the 40 people they had a private party for which created less than quality food and less than quality service. Our order came out in dribs and drabs and it took over an hour for my 11 year old grandson to get his fettuccine. My son didn't get his food and had to leave to pick up his other son. We were seated at about 6pm and did not get served until after 715. The staff were running around like chickens; utter chaos. The table next to us waited about 15 minutes for utensils and finally had to get up and get some themselves. The waitress was so apologetic and did her best but it was not good enough. At one point she said to us that the kitchen was utterly disorganized. My slice of pizza was less than satisfactory and my grandson's fettuccine was not good. Although our bill was comped I will need to think twice about going back. Poor planning on the part of management. In addition the setting is no longer a place I would like to go when you can't hear the person across from you. It's too bad because this was our go to place for many years read more

This is the biggest J&P Pizza I have been to! It's quite spacious. The interior looks very nice. I was pleasantly surprised. They even have a separate room for a private event, large party, or just additional seating, if needed. The hostess and waitress were both welcoming and friendly. Our waitress was very on top of things! We were a party of 7-8 people. For appetizers, we ordered bruschetta, calamari, and shrimp & crab fondue in a bread bowl with a blush colored sauce. We also ordered a pepperoni pizza and fries. Everything was delicious! (The fries were the most underwhelming item, but they were just standard fries. Not great, not bad.) Everything else was really good, especially the shrimp & crab fondue appetizer! Good size shrimp, not small. Their menu is huge. Lots of options depending on what you're in the mood for. It's fun and romantic for a date and really nice inside. The menu is huge and the desserts look amazing... They have brunch on weekends and trivia Tuesday nights. Frozen pizza would've tasted better, cost a lot less and saved me an hour of my life. New to the area I received a coupon mailer for a free medium cheese pizza. Decided to order take out for my family I tried placing order online only to discover at the very end that the coupon can't be entered online. Nothing indicated on the mailer how order should be placed or if presenting the physical copy is required. Placed the order all over again via phone and mentioned the coupon several times without the employee acknowledging or instructing me about it. When leaving for the 20 minute drive to the pizza place a thunderstorm began and I ran back in for an umbrella and forgot the paper coupon by the door. I realized that I didn't have it when it was my turn in line. I explained to the employee, but he didn't care and said he doesn't want to get in trouble. Made zero effort outside of the bare minimum of getting the food. Sides were messy all over the bag without any napkins or utensils. The worst part of this entire ordeal was the food itself. Fries were cold, undercooked with no taste or flavor. Wings were over cooked and cold. Half of my pizza had anchovies that tasted like they've been left open for months. I immediately spit out the small piece I tried. The slice of just pepperoni was slightly better, but not much. This would rank as one of the less enjoyable NY style pizzas I've ever had and cost me $30. In summary.. poor marketing, bad service & even worse taste and ingredients freshness. read more

Food is ok. Service is half baked. If you order in the restaurant it will probably be ok. If you order for pick up or delivery, its always bad. Teenagers at the counter will ask you 10 times what your name is and what your order is. Deliveries will take 30+ minutes longer than they tell you they will. When you call to check up on orders and deliveries, they will put you on hold and eventually hang up. When you call back they may or may not answer. Used to love this place. Can't trust this place. My mother ordered pizzas but the delievery driver accidently took them to someone else. I had paid for the food inside then waited. People kept coming in and getting their orders while I waited forever. They were on the phone apologizing to a person who got the wrong pizzas but did not reveal to me that the pizzas they got were ours. When I was finally annoyed enough to ask about my order they told me the delivery driver had taken our pizzas by accident but the person who took them lived close and was bringing them back. If I did not ask, this place was literally going to serve us pizzas that were sent out to someone elses home who couldve done anything to it. Got a steak and cheese pizza. Menu price for a 16" was $19 and some cents. Adding onions and peppers with tax apparently drove the total to $28 and some cents. It was ready on time. Very little sauce. No seasoning on the toppings. First a steak and cheese should have peppers and onions to start with. The website does a horrible job describing what is on the pizza, unless you are in the online order section, which you cannot online order for the Mount Airy location. Overpriced, under seasoned, not filling, waste of time and money. I would go out and say Papa Johns has more flavor, and I rank that below Little Caesars. Each came with three stems of broccoli, and that was the whole dish. The crabcake was OK, but for $27 it was more of an appetizer. Fried fish and shrimp was also a small portion, and as far as the quality was absolutely awful. I love this place. I always get pepperoni and green olives. It's awesome. Friendly staff. I usually get carry out. The pizza is always done on time. And delicious. They made a mistake once and gave me pepperoni and green peppers. I told them it was not a problem and paid my money and took it. It wasn't what I wanted but it was still worth what I paid. I have order from this location about 3 times for pick up since we moved here last March. The food has been good and no issues. I have ordered for delivery about 3 times now and there has always been an issue with the timing being later than expected. Tonight they brought someone else's order and I questioned the driver because it seemed like to many bags. When I looked I found out it wasn't ours. The driver was still outside and realized it wasn't our order so he took it back. I called and ours was still 5-10 minutes away so I am pretty sure it went to the people that the order that came to us first. This was a return to one our favorite places. The renovations are interesting with higher division walls and tiling. Our server was very pleasant and thoughtful, making sure our beverages were refilled without prompting. Overall, the experience was nice and we will definitely return.
