Excellent authentic Chicago Italian Beef sandwiches and deep-dish pizza! We skipped eating before driving west from Baltimore to Frederick (Jun 2026) for the sole purpose of getting authentic Chicago Italian Beef sandwiches from Rosati's! It's a dense crispy Italian roll filled with tender long-simmered traditionally-seasoned lightly spicy thin-sliced lean beef. Never microwaved, because that would have a tragic impact on the texture of the beef. It's served with your choice of softly sautéed sweet green peppers, or giardiniera spicy pickled vegetables mix. We went with the sweet peppers which really complemented the savory flavors of the beef. And the sandwich has anywhere from a splash of savory au-jus to a full-soak. We got the juice on the side for dipping bite by bite. Rosati's kindly gave us two little cups, enough to make the sandwich fully "wet". We have it that way when we can handle a super-messy sandwich, but today, dipping was the wise move. They have great authentic Chicago-style deep-dish and "tavern-style" thin crust pizza here too. Today our heart was set on the Italian beef! This Rosati's is takeout, along the west side of a strip-mall just off the highway. It's easy to find, with plenty of parking. Their online ordering system gave me quite a bit of trouble, to the point where I considered going elsewhere. Switching browsers is what ultimately made it work. I ordered takeout, but I will say that I did not realize in advance that the place would be basically a pure takeout with only a single table (albeit one that was well-attended during my visit). I've been to several of the big players in Chicago. The pizza here smells right, the sauce has the tang you'd expect. The crust didn't quite hold up for me, making for a messy pizza and not the most impressive flavor. Ordering a spinach pizza was a good decision as the spinach was abundant. A salad was robust in size, though they did not have my first choice dressing. A tiramisu made a nice divergence on a later date. They made two mistakes with my order, giving me a garlic bread with cheese that I'd ordered without, and not giving me a side of sweet peppers that I'd ordered. These weren't huge enough to make we want to drive back there to get corrective action on. Overall, I got the deep dish pizza I came for, and if I really had a hankering I could see ending up here again, but there are certainly areas for improvement. read more

The only downside was that we were expecting more of a dine-in experience. It's primarily a takeout restaurant, with only a couple of small tables in the lobby, so eating there felt a little awkward. I ordered a lasagna and fried ravolis via delivery service. The food arrived fine, but I guess I missed the part where there was no meat in either one of the dishes (like not even in the sauce). My lasagna was more like mozzarella noodles. Lots of cheese which was great, but that's really about it. Felt one note. I enjoyed the ravioli, I didn't mind the absence of meat in them. This is purely a take out or delivery place. You can sit but it's tiny and 2 tables; no ambiance strictly eat and go. I've only been there a few times mainly for the meatball sub which is excellent. Super large meatballs great tomato sauce and fresh French style bread. Their pizza which I expected to be just as good.. wasn't. It is mediocre at best and there are several other pizza places in Frederick which are far better. I ordered a 12" 4 item ZA. They slice it in little squares which makes it actually more difficult to eat than a pie traditional slice, cause you can't just pick up those tiny squares without utensils. The crust is fair, burned on the outside. I ordered thin crust not deep dish. The ingredients meh, and practically tasteless. The cheese was doughy and not high quality mozzarella I didn't think. Soo.. try the meatball and maybe some of their other subs or pasta offerings. I could not recommended their thin crust pizza and wouldn't return except for that sub. read more

The Chicago Deep Dish is remarkable. From the crispy flaky crust, through the delectable tomato mozzarella filling and finishing with a layer of roasted baby tomato compote at its surface it is a meal in a slice. We ordered a 10" with Italian sausage, onion and spinach. When I picked up the incredibly designed box it was cradled in, you could tell you had a masterpiece simply by the weight of the contents. A 10" pizza never had so much wonderful structure and bulk to it. It contains the perfect amount of fresh mozzarella cheese and a preponderance of Lucious tomato sauce. A literal meal in every slice. I ordered online for pick up and the order was ready on time. I ordered a deep dish veggie pizza with jalapeños. When the girl handed me the pizza I had to use my big girl arms because it was heavy! Im biased. I am from Chicago and grew up on this pizza. It is one of our go to Friday night pizza delivery joints, but I removed a star bc I have noticed inconsistency with cook times. There have been more than a few times where the dough on the bottom is barely cooked. I now make sure to say "well done". Another option I have made is to ask for light cheese otherwise it is heavy on the cheese. However, I order there often and continue to come back. Tastes like home. read more

My sister recently moved to the area and treated us to pizza from this place. We expected a wait on a Saturday night, it was 50 minutes to pickup a large pizza and an order offries. Open the pizza which was supposed to be half pepperoni and half sausage. There was pepperoni on the outer edge only of half the pizza. We thought maybe the cheese was covering the rest, but nope. The fries were just ok and the bag it came in was only half full. While the pizza had a good taste, it was almost $30 for one thin crust pizza and half a bag of fries. As I was handed the pizza, the staff said this one's a heavy one, and boy the pizza box weighed a ton! I believe it takes 40 min to cook these deep dish, and it was cooked to perfection. OMGOODNESS! I think that I've died and gone to "pizza heaven"! I love pizza and it's definitely one of my favorite foods. So, if you can't make a perfect pie, get out of the kitchen and trust me this pizza business isn't for you! It's Christmas Eve, and my family and I, wanted something simple and good! So we chose pizza, but we wanted it from somewhere different not our normal pizza spots. I'm so glad that we found Rosati's Pizza! I will never eat another UNO's pizza again after this pizza! The joy of moving.. and covid. Is that you place things on your must try list and then at some point post covid, you realize you still have not gone to some of the places on your list. This place has been on my to go list forever. The spouse and I finally decided to hit this place up since we do like deep dish. I ended up with i dont even remember what but i do remember the heft of the box when i picked it up. The pizza took a little bit to be ready and since we live approximately 20 mins away it was just about ready when we pulled up. The spot is take out only so we drove the pizza home and then stuck it in the oven to stay warm while we got our plates etc together. We ended up with a 14? inch deep dish and I believe I was only able to eat 1 slice for dinner. The pizza ended up being leftovers for lunch for the next 2-3 days (with the spouse also sharing). The pizza crust was crispy and golden brown and buttery. The sausage i feel was better at Cugino Forno, but this one was pretty good. We will be back at some point but we need to make sure we have the fridge space and the hankering for a couple of days of pizza for this one. read more

Pizza reviews have to be taken with a grain of salt, considering that people's preferences vary wildly. Unfortunately, I didn't take my own advice, and tried pizza from here based on the rave reviews. I like crust, so the "double crust" option was chosen (vs. thin crust). The pizza was bland. No other way to put it. Bland cheese, bland crust. I don't know if the sauce was bland or not, because there was so much cheese on the pizza that I couldn't taste the sauce. I have a couple more gripes. For one, we ordered meat on half the pizza. They put the toppings UNDER the cheese, so it was difficult to tell which side had the meat (vegetarian here). As it turns out, the meat was on a little more than half of the pizza, so there were more meat pieces than non-meat pieces. And the way it was cut was bizarre, as if it were meant for a children's party. Instead of the usual triangle slices, it was cut into little squares. Again, I like crust, so that means there were many middle pieces, and those didn't have an outer edge of crust. The side salads were double the size I was expected, which was a pleasant surprise at only $3.49. They were nothing special though, just a good value. Maybe the key is to order the Chicago deep dish, but to be honest, I like the pizza from the other chain that offers this, and don't have a real reason to stray. read more
