Uh oh! I have found another restaurant that my body will crave and want to come back again and again - the fluffy long, soft rolls and wonderful house salad served in a bowl, house made fresh pasta, and delicious cocktails. I really appreciated how far apart the tables are to allow for conversations you can hear and more space in the cold/flu season. I had a Chocolate Martini and my husband ordered a Lemondrop Martini (not on the menu) but was definitely good. The basket of the fluffy, soft, warm rolls were incredible and something I will come back for. I got the Mediterranean bruschetta special which came with feta, crabmeat, tomatoes, balsamic glaze and lots of other yummy things on four pieces of bruschetta. It was delicious. The shrimp scampi over the thin fresh noodles was a pleasure - really loved how big the shrimp were and the large helping of pasta. My husband got the lasagna which was good although they used some different cheeses which made it taste a little different but still good. Amanda our waitress was quick, pleasant, and took good care of us. Fratelli's is a Resy restaurant. Make reservations ahead of time, since on Saturdays even at 4:00 pm, all the reservations are already booked for the night. I have returned to Fratelli's for a work group lunch. Kendra was excellent, taking care of our large group with professionalism, efficiency, and a warm smile and manner. I got the !4" pizza which is a deep dish pizza - just perfect - not too buttery. I got sausage which had the long slices of sausage on it, not spicy. You can only eat one or two pieces out of the thick eight slices, the pizza is thick so expect to share or take it home for several more lunches. read more

We have been so unnerved by this most recent experience that it's taken me over a week to comment on it. While we have routinely enjoyed ourselves here before, our last visit was seriously soured with a very rude, entitled host. So much so that the manner in which he spoke to us actually made my wife extremely nervous. The manager knows who he is. We had a conversation with her about his rude comments & unacceptable behavior after which we ended up leaving. I don't see us ever returning unless the host has been released from his assignment there. It's unfortunate for the restaurant because we are not afraid to enjoy anything on the menu and we tip very well (I was a waiter once, too). What an unfortunate loss for the person who would have benefited from what would have been our time there. We ended up going to Manalu and had a really terrific experience there. read more

Fratelli Italian Restaurant absolutely delivered a great experience from start to finish. The food was on point, the veal was tender, flavorful, and cooked just right, and the seafood marinara was equally impressive with fresh seafood and a rich, well-balanced sauce. What really made the night stand out, though, was the service at the bar. Michael and Diego were fantastic, attentive without being overbearing, quick with recommendations, and just genuinely enjoyable to talk to. Unfortunately, I don't think this is our "go-to" spot anymore. As a previous person mentioned, the food quality has decreased the last few times we have been, the prices have gone up and the quality of service just isn't what it used to be. On a previous visit, we had our calamari replaced THREE times. It was chewy yet somehow hard at the same time. We were told it was due to a change in supplier but since then, the quality has been severely affected. Tonight, the chicken in the pasta dish was dry and ickkk. We eat at Fratelli's at least once a year since they've opened. Two thumbs up all the time. I highly recommended this spot but be prepared that it won't be cheap. Today, we reserved for early dinner at 5:15 pm and they were already busy. We were seated to our table right away and met Heather our server who is welcoming and very attentive. While waiting for the kiddo, we ordered a meatball slider with Diablo sauce and a glass of Moscato. It was tasty but spicy eaters it didn't even really register for us. Next was the house salad with freshly shredded Romano cheese and piping hot fresh house bread. For the entrees, we ordered meat lovers penne, seafood platter, and the roughy special with chipotle sauce, grilled asparagus, mashed potatoes, shrimp, and crab. So so good! We were so stuffed that we passed on the desserts. Ample portions definitely. Still took a decent amount of leftovers which will be doctored with some chili oil or sriracha for a little kick Fratelli is spacious to accommodate a big party but can get a little loud when is packed. We went to Fratelli's on Mother's Day. It was busy and we didn't have a reservation but were able to get a table in 20 min. The service was good. The waitress was very attentive. Breads are very warm and delicious. Salad was also good. Chicken Chesapeak was huge ! Crabcakes had lots of fillers but chicken was juicy. Shrimp scampi and chicken Milano were also good. I was a bit daunted by the prices, but I have to say, it really was that good! The eggplant parm is among few vegetarian options (others being a pasta, salad, or custom pizza) and is delightful; genuinely the best I think I've ever had. I also got tiramisu to go, which was also lovely (and a low enough sweetness to really let the flavor live). The bread and house salad given as appetizers were nice too, although I must say a side vinaigrette or butter would have gone a long way with those. Service was great as well! Atmosphere was okay; comfortable, but crowded and loud even at 3:00 pm -- enough that you also have to speak loud to be heard. It's acceptable, but does cheapen the experience slightly. read more

I love to eat at Fratelli's but recently a couple things have made me decide to think twice before returning. The food, drinks, and service are always incredible. Without a doubt some of the best seafood in the area, every single time. What makes this a 3 star and not 5 star restaurant is: 1. The booths; they are incredibly uncomfortable. For someone to enjoy their dining experience, they have to be comfortable and that is not possible if seated at one of Fratelli's booths. I have never gone to a restaurant where the seating was so uncomfortable, I asked to move. At Fratelli's, however, I cannot sit in a booth because I spend the entire time hunched forward trying to be comfortable. Everyone I have gone with complains of the same thing. They have an empty lower back area but a very hard and large upper back cushion that forces you forward. This past visit was a busy night so we sucked it up and I stuck my purse behind my lower back to try and even it out but even then, I was very uncomfortable. I always ask to sit somewhere other than a booth. Perhaps people just aren't making management aware of how uncomfortable the booths are. 2. The ceiling vents. I just noticed that every ceiling vent looked like this, and they are right above areas where people dine. Just gross if you ask me. Makes me wonder how the kitchen is cleaned and maintained if the dining area looks this way. I think I will wait for some seating renovations and cleaning before I come back in. Though once they fix those, it would be a 5 star place to eat! read more

Amazing! Gastronomic wow! Words can't reach the experience. I loved it! I've heard lots of good things about the food here. Especially the crabcakes and seafood. OMG yes! This evening they had a special... 8oz. fresh, broiled swordfish over a bed of linguine and a perfect garlic cream sauce...topped with an 6 or 8 oz.(let's just say enormous crabcake!) The fish was so moist and flakey tender. The crab was a perfect accompaniment...delicate and rich... (by the way, just to help you understand, the crab cakes are able the size of a softball!) Fratelli's makes their own pasta on site. You can see the room where they make it including a cool pasta extruder! There is just no match for good, freshly made pasta! My mate ordered veal piccata... she thought she had seen it listed on their online menu but it wasn't on the in-house menu. Not a problem we were told. Chicken or veal can be interchanged. Just ask! The server we had really knew his stuff. I felt like I was in a four star Michelin restaurant! But without the four-star $$$$ prices. Plain and simple, Fratelli's is my favorite restaurant on this side of the Atlantic! The crab cakes are the best anywhere...yes Baltimore, deal with it. They are the size of my fist! The entrees are defintely generous. They are two-meal worthy, for sure. If you don't get a box to take home, and eat all of your food in one sitting, I salute you. The pasta is absolutely sublime. If you get red sauce have it mixed with the diavolo...spice it up! The salad and breadsticks are enough (and outstanding, to boot!) for an appetizer, and come with the meal. However, if you feel the need, their appetizers are stellar! My favorite is the calamari. Huge pieces! Dare I say dessert? Can't go wrong whatever you choose. Carrot cake...cheesecake...just pace yourself. It's a culinary tour de force here at Fratelli's! The atmosphere is nice and subdued. Bright enough, but dimmed lighting. Just enough to allow your retinas to process all of the food you'll be tempted with. You totally get the sense that Tony Bennett is going to stop by your table and ask uou how your meal was. Attended for a graduation dinner. Our server was very kind and accommodating for one of our gluten free members. We've been twice, today the music was a little too loud. I got the chicken marsala and it was very good, though the pasta comes as a separate side with red sauce, instead of in the marsala. I got a Cannoli for dessert which was amazing. read more

The restaurant is large and open. There is a small bar to the right of the entrance. It was very loud and hard to hear my party because people had to shout over each other. Service was wonderful. Our waiter knew the ins and outs of the menu and was very attentive. I was in a large party of 12 and no one had an empty drink. There were complimentary Italian salad and bread. Both were delicious. The meatballs in the meatball sliders were dry, but there was lots of mozzarella cheese. Entree portions were very large. The osso bucco was savory and comforting. I definitely recommend it. **^The lemon mascarpone cake and flourless chocolate cake are both must-haves. read more

We had a birthday party here with 10 people. Serving 10 isn't easy. First I want to say that the service we had was so good! The restaurant interior is very nice. Now the food - The appetizers were all very good. We had calamari, mushroom caps stuffed with crab, and mozzarella sticks. The house salad you get with your meals was excellent and generous! We had many entrees. The portion sizes are very large. The homemade fettuccine noodles were very good. The steaks were very good. The lobster raviolis were very good. We had 2 negative items; the Chicken Marsala was too sweet and the chicken was a bit over cooked and the shrimp scampi wasn't flavorful at all. Overall though, a very good Restuarant. All of us enjoyed it. That is saying something for table this large. We will be back to try some other dishes. read more

I am going to start off this review with Fratelli's is our favorite restaurant in the DMV, hands down. First, the ambience inside is extremely nice and warm feeling. The service is always top notch and the manageres are very engaging and will usually come by the tables just to check on you. The menu is extensive, with many great choices, so it takes some time to work your way through. I will say that the prices appear to be a little bit on the high side, but know that the food portions are so good that we usually take half our meal home and have it for lunch or dinner the next day. The pasta is all made in house and is extremely fresh. The crabcakes are one of my favorites of anywhere in the DMV and are huge with minimal filler. I used to get either a crabcake dinner or the seafood alfredo until I tried their chicken marsala. I have traveled for work and have tried that dish in Little Italy in NY city, as well as other cities and this just blows it away. The deserts are to die for so save room! read more

What an absolute gem!! The wife and I were in the mood for seafood so I Google map searched as we were in an area we were completely unfamiliar with, and the result brought us to Fratelli's. As we drove across rural roads to get there, we became more and more apprehensive that there could be a seafood restaurant even in that location, let alone a good one, and when we arrived we became more skeptical based on the location being in a strip mall, even though it was well maintained. That is where all skepticism ended, and one the most pleasurable dining experiences we have had in recent memory began! iI will preface the following with the fact that my wife and I currently live in Europe, we travel extensively, and we love food! Our waitress got us started with a couple of glasses of wine that she recommended, which were both amazingly tasty, and served in beautiful glasses. Our first course was the Calamari and Caprese, and we were floored as the Caprese had a magnificent spin incorporating prosciutto and capers, while the calamari was hands down the best battered calamari I have ever eaten (I love my calamari in the raw, but have had it battered as an appetizer at well over 150 restaurants at home and abroad). Every delicious piece of squid was more than a mouthful and held up perfectly when soaked with the fresh lemon! It was delicious enough on its own but was perfectly paired with a nice dipping red sauce for a little extra flare. We were then served as part of the meal, a family sized salad, perfect portion for 2 with a basket of bread. The salad was perfect with everything you'd expect including delicious olives and mixed greens. I can't comment on the bread because at that point I was already recognizing that the amazing portion of calamari was going to compete for space with the amazing entrees our awesome waitress had helped us select. At that point I could have easily given the service and food top scores, but when the entrees came out, we were floored!!! The wife had the special of the day, which was one of the most enormous and delicious crab cakes, served atop a beautifully prepared grilled halibut served over a bed of linguine. The plate was a masterpiece and the taste of each ingredient was more enjoyable that we could put into words! I had ordered a shrimp and scallop dish, also over linguine, and the quantity of deliciously prepared, robust shrimp and scallops, made it likewise a top shelf, memorable work of art! Needless to say we could not finish it as our server had already reminded us that the desserts were on par with the entrees, and for that reason had to be experienced. My wife being first generation American (I snatched her from the island of Sicily back in the 80's) has always made what I consider to be among the best Tiramisu's on the planet, so we said let's see what they have and compare. Another amazing surprise! It was more of a cake than traditional Tiramisu, and I LOVED IT!! The mascarpone was more stiff and placed between the savoiardi, which were lightly soaked, and layered to resemble more of an American cake, but it served and tasted spectacularly! I finished up with a limoncello which although I like it served from the freezer, it was served over ice, but it was still a well selected high quality liquor, which perfectly concluded a meal that neither of us will soon forget!! My wife and I visited family in Frederick MD a couple times in the past two months, and being full-Italian my appetite grows for great Italian food when I travel away from home where I make my own pasta, sauce, focaccia bread and more. I was floored by the incredible meal we had at Fratelli's. The Italian Platter entree was so amazing the first visit that we had to have it again our second visit to the area. The sauce is as good as mine! The lasagna, stuffed shells and Chicken Parmigiana were amazing, moist and simply delicious. Be sure to ask for grated Parmigiano Cheese and Crushed Pepper to delight your taste buds. The ambiance is superb...classy with nice tables and chairs, as well as booths (which we prefer). I have enjoyed all manner of Italian cuisine, in decent and also excellent dining establishments around the world. I've come to understand the pros and cons of chains and independent restaurants, and I consider Italian food to be one of my favorite cuisines. When several friends told us that Fratelli's was excellent we made our way there. "Not bad" is the best I can say. I did not try the pizza, but we did order several traditional dishes that were served with more care and attention than they were prepared with. They were not bad, they simply were not excellent. I will happily visit a second time and try the pizza, but meanwhile I'll continue to dine on what I think is significantly better Italian food in Frederick. As I said, the service was attentive and pleasant, despite the large number of patrons -- that's a positive aspect I feel compelled to add. I will return to try the pizza, but maybe next year... Again, no specific complaints with our food, it just wasn't excellent or especially delicious. Average isn't bad ...but it is still only average. read more

We had 10 people for my daughter's 40th . First of all food was excellent! Our waiter was very good. The only issue we had was the atmosphere. We were put at several tables pushed together on the right side of a very narrow part of the restaurant. On the left side was another large party with the same configuration we had. It was very loud and difficult to hear our conversation. It was so narrow that it was almost impossible to get out of your chair and make it down the aisle without squeezing past someone, running into the servers, backing into people at the other table. The people seated against the wall felt squished, and had a lot of trouble getting their seats to go to the restroom. As I stated at the beginning, the food was excellent, but with good food at high cost, the expectation is a all-around great experience. This includes the atmosphere. read more

Nothing like these monsters of pure crabmeat seasoned to perfection, still looking for filler. My favorite dish and the best deal on the house is the Chicken Chesapeake. A split sautéed chicken breast in a bed of linguini with one of those monster cakes majestically settled on top . Stumbled upon Fratelli's on the way back from Hagerstown and was pleasantly surprised with the establishment. Though it was very busy, it barely took any time for us to be seated. The complementary bread was tasty and went well with our pastas that came out later. The pasta portions were humongous and we had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. One thing I appreciated was that any time something fell on the floor, like an ice cube or piece of salad, it was picked up almost immediately. The staff were all sharp and very kind as well. Food: Spaghetti with marinara sauce. An enormous plate of spaghetti arrived with sauce mixed in. Sauce was dense and with little flavor. Seafood fra diavalo. Again enormous with thick, sticky fettuccine. Lots of seafood, mussels (good), large shrimp overcooked and tough, some nice scallops, and small chunks of crab. Asked for medium spicy. Not spicy at all. Last, GF chicken, chicken, a few asparagus in olive oil. No sauce at all to flavor gf pasta. We each ate way less than half our meals. Quantity 10 out of 10. Quality 3 out of 10. Many people left with many take out boxes. We opted to leave our food at Fratellis. Service. Ira was our delightful server. Five stars. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and great. It was super packed but it was Saturday at 7:15. The host was on top of everything and was super nice. We had a reservation for 7:15 and sat down around 730. The food was amazing!! Our sever knew everything by heart and was great! We got the sangria flight and a picture of sangria. The strawberry was the sweetest and the blackberry was the best. The table gets a bowl of house salad that comes with the pasta. Even though it was super busy, it wasn't too loud. The tables are spaced out so you can't hear your neighbors talking and low music.
