Great atmosphere. Very friendly and efficient staff. I wanted to love the pizza but the crust wasn't cooked through in the middle. It was impossible to pull a slice to your plate without everything taking a nose dive! I saw it happen at the table next to is. My friend had the chicken wings, she liked them but they were almost too done. The Italian sub was excellent. Very fresh ingredients including a beautiful tomato. French fries were meh! read more

My wife and I just had lunch at Momma Angela. What a treat. Very friendly and effective server. I had a veal dish with mushrooms, ham, and cheese. Outstanding flavor and if you like your food served hot, like I do, you will love the place. Grabbed a take out menu. Looks like the pizzas will be a good option for quick gatherings. Fried Calamari with marinara, small Greek salad, two bottles of San Pelligrino, a 16-inch NY style pizza with three toppings, and cannoli totaled $60. We took home most of the pizza! To us, this seemed a good deal. For a small-town Italian place, this restaurant was top-notch. The menu has a surprisingly large range of options. Calamari was hot and crisp with a generous portion served with lemon wedges. and a side of Marinara. Greek salad was loaded with cheese, lettuce was crisp and included all the expected ingredients. Dressing on the side so you can control portions. Pizza was as hoped for: thin crust with generous toppings (sausage, mushrooms, onions) fully integrated and melted into the crust. It was served so hot we had to be careful handling it! Cannoli was overstuffed which was shared. We declined the chocolate drizzle option. The red checked tablecloth atmosphere was cozy. Lots of Italian decorations including a wall mural, wine bottles, photos and even a life-size chef mannequin were on display. Background music was contemporary - not Italian - and soft enough to have a normal conversation. Service was prompt and flawless. At lunch, the dining area was about 1/3 full (seating for about 100?) with a busy takeout order business. We had time to kill and never felt rushed. Restroom was accessible, clean and sell supplied. Had been visiting pretty regularly and enjoying the whole experience. Even discovered a new Sicilian style deep dish supreme with everything to die for. But latest visit a week ago doubled down on giving us another uncooked deep dish pizza that was truly inedible. We figured the pizza oven guy was to blame because he wasn't moving the pizza around and turning it properly. But the staff said the owner was trying a new crust dough. It's NOT working. Based upon the decent reviews we decided to try this place. I will preface this review and say that the staff is outstanding, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. My wife ordered the lasagna and I ordered the chicken marsala, which I try everywhere. We both ordered extra sauce and were never told it was $4 extra for each plate. My wife actually never got it and the server noticed it and removed it from the bill before we even said anything. Her lasagna was not traditional, and looked like a huge piece of bread with 3lbs of cheese on top. As she started eating, the pasta at the bottom was hard to chew and stuck together. My chicken marsala was an absolute joke. The sauce had absolutely no marsala in it and the chicken had no flavor and was barely seared in the pan. I cook my own and know how it should be and this was bad. As my wife stated to me, our dishes were as if they were fast food. With this being said, the pizza looked decent and it might be worth going back for a slice, but we will never go back for actual full meals here. read more

Can I tell you a secret love of mine? It's finding that ultimate thick crust pizza of my dreams in every area that I live. It's not out in the open as a massive deep dish pizza but it's hidden as the Sicilian pizza. One and a half slices was all it took to fill me up but I really wanted to finish that second piece. The wife and I finished that pizza over the next day and I couldn't have been happier making the trip to Mt Airy. If you live in the area and want a deep dish pizza but don't want to make the trip up to Uno's, check this place out. While you're at it, get a cannoli or some gelato. Wow! If you are in the area and looking for some awesome Italian food, stop here! My wife and I stopped about 6pm on a Saturday while driving North after arriving at BWI. She was searching for something with convenient freeway access while I was driving and this place was less than a half-mile off I-70. It also had great reviews and we love italian food. It is located in a small strip mall with adequate parking. They have a counter in the middle as you walk in where it looks like they make the pizzas. There is table seating on either side of the entrance. We were greeted and told to have a seat at any of the smaller tables. We looked to the right since it was closer and only saw 5 small tables and four were occupied, so we took the last one. The four large tables on this side were empty but quickly filled up as we were there. The interior is cozy and simple and feels very authentic. We decided to order the mozzarella sticks appetizer as we looked through the extensive menu. They arrived a short while later and we placed our orders. My wife decided to try the lasagna and I ordered the meat lovers calzone. The mozzarella sticks hit the spot but we debated if they were just from bulk frozen. Our orders arrived in a timely fashion and looked amazing. My wife thought it was the biggest piece of lasagna she has ever had in a restaurant. She also said it tasted delicious. My calzone was also huge and came with a side of sauce for dipping. The calzone had oozing mozzarella when I cut into it and tasted amazing. We both had about half our meals leftover and took them to go. The prices were fair, my calzone was $9. We now have this on our list of go-to places when in the area. After asking, they even gave us two sides of marinara to go with our leftovers at no additional cost. We highly recommend! read more

We are new to this area and this place is about a 15 minute drive away. My wife and I originally tried their pizza and we both liked it a lot. It's a NY style and really good. Since that time, we keep getting the pizza from here and have not really tried much else. Prices are good and the service has always been outstanding. The food is always great, I love it. The service is also (usually) great so when they make a mistake I just let it go.

Why is Italian food so difficult to make & produce? What happened to using a good tomato paste & herbs with a reduced red sauce? Flavonoids is everything. We also eat for the nutrition, so there ought to be protein substance, as a meal is not an appetizer. Real Italian has substance and is "filling." read more

4 stars for customer service as last night was my first dining in here. A coworker recommended I come to this restaurant so I thought I'd try it out. Portions are pretty big which is always a plus. My sister had spaghetti and meatballs which she didn't like much. Saying the sauce was too wet as if it were a soup. I had a Three Star Scampi without crab meat. I had no complaints whatsoever it was great. My Fiancé actually found a place that wings he really likes. And the fries are good too!!! read more

Mamma Angela has been one of our most visited restaurants for a decade. We do still like them. We appreciate the hustle of the servers, and the food is above average - even if it doesn't reach the level of "amazing." Our last meal had some disappointments. An appetizer of fries was overcooked, but this has not been a systemic issue. Hopefully a one-off. Of more concern is their ever-increasing prices. A vegetarian pasta dish that my son has enjoyed for years is now up to $16, and the portion-size has decreased. A 16-inch pizza now starts at $15, but that is not unique to this restaurant as pizza prices have been increasing at most places. The biggest disappointment is a new charge for "non-cash adjustment" - in other words, an up-charge for using a credit card. I have not yet seen this at any other restaurant, and it was not disclosed in any obvious way. This just feels petty. Increased prices, smaller portions, and a new junk fee...These things leave a negative impression and decrease the probability that we will select your business next time. We love this place!! The food is excellent!! I love the Chicken Marsala and my husband always gets one of the amazing specials. His favorite is the Chicken Artichoke Pesto with pasta. Ordered take out on Sunday late afternoon. Was told it would be 15 minutes. Upon arrival, two waitresses were sitting at a table in front of the window as you enter and a male sitting nearby on his cell phone and all other tables were empty. The order was spaghetti with meat sauce. The spaghetti was lukewarm and very dry. Hardly any sauce on the spaghetti. The side salad consisted mostly of strong red onion and the house dressing looked like raw egg. The small piece of bread was smothered with garlic butter. After eating very little of the dinner, I was anxiously waiting to eat the double chocolate cake purchased in the refrigerated area of the restaurant. What a disappointment - the cake was drier than the spaghetti with meat sauce. I have always had excellent take-out orders. After spending $32 for this order, I will not be going back!! read more

Poor customer service. Very poor management! Stay away if wise. I took my family here this evening for dinner and walked out. There were 4 in our party and upon arriving the hostess directed us to an end table that seated 4 but was very close to a party seated next to that table and would have jammed us into a corner.. There were 3 vacant tables that seated 6 in a row of tables out from the table where directed by the hostess and I asked if we could be seated at one of those tables because our desire was to be separated from close proximity of others due to COViD. She refused our request and we left. It is my hope those vacant tables weren't filled throughout the rest of the evening. Been coming here for years. Can't beat the food!! Love the pizza and the steak roll!! My all time fav is their house salad with shrimp. You get 10-12 shrimp which is amazing and they are seasoned really well. The beat part of the salad is the house Italian dressing! Def the best dressing I've ever had. I have been eating here since it opened and I have to say that the last 2 visits were really bad. First, about a month ago, we ordered food for 50 people for carry out. The 60th birthday party was about a week away and they quoted us $400 over the phone. When we went to pay for it a week later, the price at the register was $600. No explanation other than "it was a mistake." I would NEVER have ordered it if it was $600 but I had 50 people coming to the house in an hour so I had no choice. Second, last night I was having salad with Salmon. The salmon tasted like it had been soaking in lemon for an hour. When I complained, they took the salmon off the bill but not the salad- which also tasted like lemon. Ridiculous! it will be a long time before I go back there, sorry to say. read more

$8 to open the wine or beer (corking fee) for one person is greedy. I have been coming here with my family for years but after this experience, I am seriously considering not coming back here.
