The restaurant ambiance acceptable. It's not a fancy place. It appeared clean and spacious. There were not to many customers eating in. One must retrieve menus and order at counter. Then the pizza is delivered to the table of your choosing. On the 2nd visit, while waiting for pizza, I witnessed small children running around in the kitchen area during food preparation. I thought it was dangerous because of hot appliance and frying oil. Also, quite unsanitary because of air borne bacteria. I can only assume, classes not in session on that day. I guess in this part of the state, it is ok to bring children to work. The first time we had a large Plain pizza pie and a standard toss salad. I immediately thought, a supermarket frozen pizza and bag salad would have tasted better. Also, cost me less. We thought we give it another try. Since the place is in walking distance and maybe another type of pie would taste better. Therefore, we shared a New York style pie and wings. Again, the food was very bland. The wings were horrible. Again, flavorless and not well cooked.I guess we needed to request "well done". I am accustom to NYC and NJ Italian, family owned, hand tossed dough, style pizza. Perhaps, not a fair comparison to this place. Most importantly, had to dispute bill because was over charged. Per menu, the mild flavor wings included mild sauce and blue cheese. Yet, charged separately for sauce and blue cheese. The large black binded menu, clearly stated what was included on each pizza pie and cost. Yet, overcharged for toppings. New York Pizzeria in Gouverneur really impressed me. The pizza here is absolutely delicious and worth every visit. We ordered the buffalo chicken pizza and it was phenomenal. The flavor was perfect with just the right balance of spice and savory richness. Every bite made me want more, and it really showed how good a specialty pizza can be. The atmosphere was comfortable and the staff was attentive, making sure orders came out hot and fresh. The restaurant has that welcoming small-town feel, and it is a great spot to enjoy with family or friends. The prices are a little on the higher side, but with today's rising food costs, employee wages, and operational expenses, it is understandable. The quality of the food and service makes it worth it. The only true negative was one cook who was loudly complaining about making calzones while we were there. It came across as if it was an inconvenience to him, which was distracting for an otherwise great visit. Thankfully, it did not take away from how good the food was, and everyone else on staff did a fantastic job. If you love pizza and are in Gouverneur, this is the place to go. Warning! If you happen to have even any of the slightest digestive issues (such as "GERD", aka, acid reflux), do NOT EAT HERE! I've eaten their pizzas multiple times, but only after the first1 time, it was when I've attended other persons' special occasions, birthdays, etc.) Every time I had their pizza, which initially the taste was great, as well as the first look, I became quite ill. I really like pizza, but I have NEVER had pizza as greasy‍ as pizza from NewYork Pizzeria in Gouverneur, NY! Should I again, be offered their pizza at another occasion, I will definitely ask for LOTS OF EXTRA NAPKINS, not because I'm a messy eater, but to use the napkins to hopefully soak up all that grease! And, then hope I can avoid becoming quite ill. This pizza is actually pretty good! The slices are pretty big- about 2.50 a slice. Everything is made fresh on site and the have an advantage card available which you swipe to earn points. You get different free items off the menu when you get a certain amount of points. The employees are nice and my food is always ready when I come in to grab it during my lunch break. A big perk: they offer beer and wine I haven't had a chance to give them a try yet but I'm looking forward to it . Was in town to watch my daughter's weeknight basketball game and needed a quick dinner. Not in the mood for a fast food burger I stumbled across New York Pizzeria. 2 slices and a bottle of water (I don't like soda) was $7.50, fair price. The service was prompt. Slices were an average size 1/8th of a 14-15" pizza each. I love this pizza! It wasn't until I saw the pictures on the wall, and checked the website, that I realized this place is affiliated with Nonna Dina's in Brownville (best pizza in upstate). This isn't quite Nonna Dina's but it its 99.9% as good and I can see a local arguing it the other way. Do not let looks deceive you with this place. I, for a long time, refused to go in until one day I wanted pizza and my husband raved about this place. The outside looks like a little local bar but by no means is that what the place is. As you walk it you are amazed at how clean and comfortable the atmosphere is. It is a real restaurant. Pizza is the main dish however they have wings, salad, other pasta dishes, subs, and appetizers. Amazing lunch specials. I ordered a slice of pizza and fries with a soda for three for $20. The slices could feed 1 super hunger teen/adult or 2 regular folks. One order of fries does feed 2. I will definitely come back to try the canoli and the wings. After changing our CA for our new NY Licenses, we decided to celebrate by trying the New York Pizzeria. I'd seen it about two months ago when we were in town. The sign is nice and it's what caught my eye at first. The entry wasn't what I expected, rather plain with a big plastic sidewalk sign leaning against the nonfunctional door. Once inside the restaurant it was a completely different appearance and ambiance. Decorations were very cute and felt homey! The staff was very helpful with the menu and answered every question. Ordering at counter hours 11a-4p, Table Service 4-10p. We ordered 2 of their lunch specials served until 4p....a Slice-salad-soda for $7.50 and Slice-5 wings/Hot sauce-soda for $8.50. The sodas were self serve. And I ordered the Fried Ravioli appetizer to try. The salad was delivered quickly, lots of lettuce and very little tomato...with bleu cheese crumbles and Italian dressing. After adding pepper, garlic powder and Parmesan cheese, my salad was perfect....next time I'll ask for olives as well. The Hot wings were delivered next and according to my Guy the flavor and wings was very good! Our slices were delivered next....generous portions, exactly as we ordered....you can choose your own toppings on each slice! We realized that the fried ravioli hadn't come yet....so, they got them out ready to take home for dinner.....the Service was fantastic (except forgetting our Ravioli lol) No harm No foul! They have delicious locally made beer from the Tobaggan Brewery on tap. I had a tasty Firetower. Try a calzone. Stuffed with mozzarella cheese and up to four toppings, it's the best.
