Consistently good food but the elderly lady that is usually at the register is not the friendliest person I have ever met.

I don't know where to begin with this Pizza dive. First of all the pizza is just not good. These reviewers who are saying it's the best they've had are either delusional or not particularly savvy when it comes to Pizza tasting. I ordered two slices of pizza which were dry and bland. I was also overcharged for both slices as the prices listed on their website and even on their menu at the store stated slices were $2.75. When I asked the cashier about the discrepancy she could not explain it and simply said the owner makes decisions about the pricing. I asked for a side of marinara sauce and the cashier told me she could do that for me. Of course I didn't realize she was going to charge a $1.50 for that sauce. The container was so tiny with the sauce I thought I was being pranked. It was about the equivalent of maybe two tablespoons of sauce. When I expressed my disbelief to the cashier and asked for more sauce she said she would have to charge me $1.50 for each of the tiny containers. As if all this weren't enough then I was charged a surcharge for using a credit card instead of cash. They do not inform you of this surcharge, they just simply charge it if you use a credit card. This place is a total ripoff and I would never go there again. Being from out of town I was looking forward to trying local pizzerias and I'm extremely disappointed with this dive. At the very least they should give you extra sauce for free to make their stale pizza more palatable and if they're going to charge you they need to give you a substantial amount of sauce, not one or two bites worth for $1.50. Little Caesars blows this place out of the water. Save yourself money and aggravation and go there instead. read more

The customer service is awful and our bill seems to rise every single time we come in. So, when we asked for a receipt she told us "didn't print." There are two employees that I as a business owner myself would consider liabilities and a danger to a business. These types of people will ruin a business and judging by reviews, we all know who I am speaking of. The workers are miserable, the tables are breaking, dust is literally everywhere, people on their phones... it's wild for a business that I'm assuming wants to continue. We've given hundreds to them, and each time we regret giving people like them our hard earned money & I do not recommend giving these people a penny. We've been here before some years ago and it hasn't changed much. It's located across the road from the New River Air Station which was awesome for us when we lived in New River especially if you wanted some New York Style Pizza Pie. We walked in and was greeted right away. The menu up was a bit busy , but you could find what you wanted with some navigating around on it haha... There wasn't a line or wait and our food was ready in no time. I wanted the pasta salad , but the lady said they didn't sell it anymore :( so with that being said I'd suggest they take that off the busy menu board up in the front. I was pretty sad about them not having it so I went with a garden salad and a slice of pizza with green peppers and onions. My husband and our son got a large cheese pizza which they devoured expect one piece. There is plenty of seating inside and if you get a medium fountain drink you'll also receive free refills. I don't know how NY Pizzeria only has three stars. I suppose the negative reviews are from people not familiar with NY style pizzas. I grew up in the Tri-State area eating NY style slices and pizzas. For the first time, we ordered last night from NYP, and they make an excellent NY style pizza. Is it the best that I ever had? No, but it is by far the best NY style pizza I've had in Jacksonville, or anywhere around here. We ordered a 20" cheese Gotti (only $19.99), and it was what I was hoping for; but one piece of advice, NYP, achieve a little more charring of the crust's undercarriage, for it could have baked another minute. My wife and I drove 25 minutes from outside of Swansboro, and we'll do it again next week. read more

This pizza was a huge disappointment. They only thing they have going for them is good, friendly service, and the dough seems decent. But the pizza was undercooked and very under seasoned. Sauce was bland, cheese was caked on and seemed flavorless and cheap. Plus the mushrooms were canned, which is my biggest issue. Canned mushrooms are so gross, and they were just slathered on. Using better ingredients, not so much cheese, and some seasoning would make this pizza much better. Wouldn't recommend nor will I be going back if this is their standard. My husband and I are out of town on business here in Jacksonville and have ordered from this place a couple different times. The first time we ordered two subs and some fries. The total came out to $29 and they forgot the fries and that was for carry out!! The second time they messed up a simple order of two portions of Chicken tenders some bbq sauce and fries. The delivery driver gave us only one chicken tender dinner without the bbq sauce we asked for and then we had to wait 45 min for the second order only to see that there was only one half of a mangled chicken tender that looked like they grabbed it out of the garbage and re fried it because it was an inconvenience that they messed up OUR ORDER! I returned a roast beef sandwich a few months ago because the worker admitted they ran out of their normal roast beef and they bought cheap roast beef from the store until their shipment came in. Have payed for delivery twice from this restaurant. They always say it will take around 45 to 60 min. The first time it took over 90 min and just tonight it took and hour and 45 min. This is our go to pizza place. It's the closest to our house and has never disappointed. Prices are competitive--maybe a little high, but the quality of the pizza is quite good. They have two special sizes with 3 toppings--the little New Yorker and the other guy's large. We tend to get either of those, based on how hungry the family is.
