I came in an hour before closing and our pizza was ready in about 20minutes. Though it was fast, the pizza could've been heated a little longer. We got a 3 topping large pizza of mushroom, pepperoni, and bell peppers. It was thin crust and flavorful but I've never had NY pizza, so I can't say it was the best. Also, staff wasn't friendly, when we asked for parmesan packets the man didn't answer us but he walked away to bring us some. read more

My wife (then girlfriend) and I lived in Walnut over 20 years ago and would frequent this spot for good, inexpensive food and drinks. We moved away and forgot all about it. We moved back into the area (Diamond Bar) a few years ago and somehow still didn't think to revisit the place. Last night we were really craving pizza, but wanted something different than Mr Gs, which has gotten insanely expensive. I went to the Google machine and saw NYP a little ways down the list. I was immediately struck by fond memories, so we decided to go. We walked in and were hit with nostalgia immediately. We ordered a pitcher of beer, a glass of wine, a large 3-topping pizza and a large salad, and the total was like 50 bux. We sat and had some drinks, some great pizza and a lot of laughs. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for an old school, nothing fancy pizza joint with great food, great prices and great service. And, I mean, a $3 glass of wine? Was here this past Saturday and wow!!! Ordered a couple pizzas and 2 soda pitchers with a few friends here. Got our drinks and we ordered coke and sprite. The elderly man gave us 2 sprites. So we said the drinks were wrong. His response was, " NO, you ordered sprites" with a very bad attitude. This guy was very rude so we wanted coke and ordered a coke. The topper is the pizza was very greesy, which obviously means they use a cheap cheese with lots of oils when melted. Also have very little marinara sauce. Had to pat down the pizza because there was so much oil dripping all over the place. The lady seemed very nice but overall pizza quality was very bad. The service was also a fail. Came here with a group of 6 for dinner. You order at the counter. Get a number. Pick up food. And eat. The gist of the procedure here. We ordered two large pizzas which come with 8 slices total. We ordered the NY Special and 3 topping pizza w. pepperoni, pineapple, and jalopenos. The pizza was really good. I loved the thin crust, the ample tomato sauce, and melted mozzarella cheese! The toppings were fresh and plentiful. My only complaint is that I like my dough/crust to be a little bit more chewy. Even so it was just plain good old fashioned NY style pizza. PS. Was here for dinner tonight. I was really missing the New York pizzas (from New York). I miss the flavor and taste of a New York pizza. Sadly, there is no such place in Los Angeles that can duplicate the taste of actual New York pizzas. They can only duplicate the style but the taste and flavor is unique to New York only. The pizzas are tasty here...gooey goodness. A little on the salty side, but I guess that comes with the cheese and pepperoni. It is better than most pizzerias, but definitely not the best. Ravioli is okay. Average. It's decent. The garlic bread is crispy, but no garlic flavor. I am wondering if they forgot the garlic and it's just butter toast? The salad is fresh. I said all I need is one of those papers where they take the order on to show I didn't purchase alcohol. She rudely said no again. I couldn't believe it so I walked out. She then wasted the paper she could have given me that would have made them $90! Stupid business sense.... Someone needs to fire her, but she probably owns the place. read more

Where do I begin... I ordered through Postmates in hopes that I would get my food delivered to me during my lunch break at noon. I placed the order at 11:15 because it was estimated to take 40-45 minutes to arrive. The order was placed, waited, then accepted at 11:30. I'm thinking, great! Well, noon comes and I'm expecting the delivery soon, I get a call after by the Postmate. He says there was no order, the food wasn't ready, although the app says he's picking up the order at around 11:50!!! He says the order was not made because there are changes in prices and he had to let me know before they made the food. Why didn't they just update their prices on Postmate, or honor it!?! Or call the Postmate to relay the message ASAP instead of accepting an order! Anyway, as I was ordering food not for just myself, but for other coworkers as well, I told him to just place it and get it to me. The food came ridiculously late at 12:35. So frustrating, and what's more frustrating-the additional fees!!! The pricing of the food was increased and a very hefty additional 20% service fee was also added without my knowledge! All the money and time wasted, for a restaurant that is only a mile away, I could have personally went there and got it much cheaper and faster! Let's talk about the food: The pizza is good with a very nice crust. The spaghetti on the other hand was bad. It was very runny, wet pasta, topped with probably Ragu sauce, and if you ordered it with meatballs, they were the general store bought stuff (pre-made, not fresh). If you order it with sausage, you won't see or really taste it, just looks like a meat sauce. Unfortunately, we ordered both hoping for real meatballs and decently sized sausages. The spaghetti came with salad, the only thing that seemed fresh. It also came with garlic bread, very bad garlic bread, how do you mess this up?! We also got two orders of wings. Each order comes with 8 pieces and on one of the yelp pics, it says $6.05 on the board, but there was pricing increase, so who knows how much I ended up paying for each six piece order. Taste, crap!!!!! Worse than buying some frozen wings from Costco and making it yourself! Definitely some sort of ore-made frozen stuff that was heated/cooked. It they had baked it longer, it would be slightly better, but it was just bad! All in all, don't even waste your time here, not worth it. I got ripped off, service sucked. Just had some "New York" pizza at this pizzeria. Yeah, in their dreams. If you like pizza that was made a long time ago at your high school cafeteria, then you are going to love New York Pizzeria. If you like real pizza, than keep reading. First off, the bread. It's frozen, not tossed. They take a frozen wheel of dough, toss on some over priced toppings, stuff it in the oven and presto! A pizza you could have made in your microwave. I don't even think the toppings were hand cut. They placed green peppers on, many small 1/4" cuts, shredded. I'm pretty sure all the veggies were frozen before placing them on top as we looked in the kitchen, there was only 1 guy back there "making" pizza. I asked for some extra sauce for dipping, and was given a plastic cup with cold sauce. Not room temp, not hot, but actually cold, because it's all coming from the freezer. I asked him to please warm it up, and he said he can't. A restaurant that can't warm something up? He said the plastic cup won't go in the micro wave. Biting into the pizza and tasting that thin layer of dough was terrible. There was nothing Italian about this pizza, and it's a crime to label it as "New York" pizza. I think the only customers that will be happy with the pizza here are under the age of 10, and don't know what real pizza is. read more

I used to come here after sportsball games a decade ago when I was younger. I remember liking the pizza, and liking the pizza. I starting coming here a few times lately for the pasta, but the pizza smells nice every time. The pasta is great comfort food. They have Ravioli, Spaghetti, Lasagna, and Manicotti. This is a long time business. The prices are great and so is the food. They have pizza, sandwiches, Italian food and salads. Their Sandwiches have lots of filling and you can get double meat for just $1 more. Try the pastrami. Better than The Hat. The Lasagne is the best I have had in an Italian restaurant. Salads are also very generous and prices on beverages are lower than most places. The pizza here is absolutely incredible! This was my go-to pizza place when I growing up in Walnut, and the spot to go for a pitcher of beer and a slice when hanging out with friends. I came recently to see if it was as great as I remembered it, but it was even better! I'm a huge crust person! The crust here is phenomenal! The prices are fair and they don't skimp on the toppings. Customer service is 100% and they are always willing to accommodate you. They play sports on the TVs and have a small arcade section in the back. My favorite thing is that if you're there for a game, the crowd around you will start involving you in their conversations. Just goes to show that great food comes with great atmosphere and great customers. I love their cheese bread! It melts in my mouth and makes me drool just thinking of it. Very tasty! Prices are fair; I never think I'm overspending here. When I went again four days ago), I ordered a two topping medium pizza and an antipasto salad and I paid around $21.00. Fair price for the great quality and large salad. I highly recommend giving it a try. And they serve icees too, just like New York pizza shops (I got a cherry -- several other flavors were available including mango and vanilla -- except they are called Hawaiian Shave Ice (that is the texture as opposed to an icee. New York Pizzeria is a very true New York-style pizzeria. Great pies cooked in a real pizza oven. This is definitely one of the best and most authentic places to enjoy thin crust, foldable slices of deliciousness. Very good lasagna and spaghetti dishes are available.
