Second all-time in goals in the playoffs is another former Rangers great, Mark Messier. He had two stints with the team: 1991-1997 and 2000-2004. Messier was the team captain on the Rangers' 1994 Stanley Cup championship team. New York's lone win was in Game 4 when their backs were against the wall at home inside Madison Square Garden. The team has struggled in recent years, missing the playoffs in three of the last four seasons. My prolific Yelp buddy Marianne W's post on our beloved New York Rangers hockey club (named inexplicably after the law enforcement Texas Rangers) reminds me of the final pre-Covid game that I attended last March 7 before the world went crazy days later. At that point Covid was a faint whisper trying to attract the attention of a Roaring 20's America and an orange-coiffed government in deep denial. No masks at the game or on NJ Transit to and from MSG. Eighteen thousand maniacs sardined together shouting, stomping and spitting with the synchronized madness of a Germanic mob in rabid exaltation of our boys. Victory was not to be had as the Rangers slept through a 6-4 defeat at the hands of the Devils and I suspect no one made it to the Billy Joel show on August 3, 2020 that they kept pushing on the scoreboard. Given the hysteria that unfolded a few days later as Mayor de Blasio banished everyone to the cornfield (by way of the Hamptons,) I was paranoid for two weeks that I brought this pestilence home. Go Rangers! I came here with my friend to watch Rangers vs Predators. There were many security lines but the lines moved smoothly and quickly. I waited for my friend once I passed the security and managed to look at the surrounding area including the merchandise store, the displays and decorations. Once I saw my friend we went straight to find our seats. We had to go couple flight ups and around and then up again, then finally got to our section. We checked the concession stands and got some snacks. Our seats were not bad, we could see the game very well. The best part was when Rangers scored a goal and everyone was singing and the worst part was when they lost the game. Like any other live games, being there is different than watching it on a screen, especially during this holiday season. However some of the fans were just screaming from one row to the other. Not only screaming during the game but during the break just talking in screaming ways lol, I thought that was funny. My eardrums hurt, ouch! The sound system was good, every music was clear to my ears. We were so focused that we didn't realize 3 hours went so fast. I plan to return with Hubby to the Rangers game in January. Without a doubt the best place to see a hockey game. The revamped Madison Square Garden makes other arenas look merely adequate. The views, scoreboard, Garden history and the incredible True Blue Rangers fans make for a fantastic experience. Food is excellent and a surprisingly good beer selection. Bronx Brewery was damn good. Delicious nuggets and fries from Daily Burger. It helps that we won in an exciting shoutout. The Garden does such a great job of filling you with the history of the team and it's loyal fans. Womp womp .. review #600 and it's for my beloved Blueshirts! Is it easy being a Ranger fan? Not always. I'm just glad they won the cup at least once in my lifetime. It'd sure be nice if they can do it again, but given how the team is being managed, we'll see. In sticking with Yelp and not turning this into a pointless rant or rave about the team, I'm more focused on the fan experience. The Rangers do a nice job of putting together a nice show. They player entrances are pretty awesome and the intermission entertainment is decent. As expected, the fan base is often raucous and they definitely let the team have it if they are playing like shit, or when they score a dazzling goal or if Lundquvist makes one of his awesome saves. As an experience, even though ticket prices are high I generally have a great time here .. whether if I'm sitting in the nosebleeds or in one of their lovely VIP suites. Overall when I go to a Rangers game I feel pretty pumped and proud to support a team that has a good fan base (aside from the random haters, some of whom love to post incoherent reviews here and elsewhere) and generally feel like it's worth my money to attend a game at MSG. I usually try to at least go to somewhere in the range of 3-5 games at MSG a season (not counting playoffs) .. not just I love the team but also I really enjoy the experience of watching hockey live at the garden. i am not a big hockey fan but i will root for the new york rangers when they have a good playoff run just like this past season .they call madison square garden home which is a bit overrated in my book. its funny that a new york sports team is named after the rangers of texas (law enforcement, ) but the fans dont seem to mind at all. i have been to a few game and the fans really get into it even when the rangers are having a not so great season. the last stanley cup championship was in 1994 and the fans went nuts when they finally won after such a long dry spell. even if you are not a big hockey fan i recommend going to a rangers game , its a bunch of fun to watch. read more

This is one of the best seasons in years for the Rangers and I am enjoying it very much. I went on a Tuesday night and even on a weeknight Madison Square Garden was pretty much full. The Rangers have the best fans in hockey and the electricity these fans give off is unbelievable. The Rangers faced the Nashville Predators and beat them 3-0 when i went. The King had another shutout and I love when he tosses his stick into the crowd at home. It's overall one of the best sporting event experiences besides football that I enjoy attending. This is one of the worst teams in the history of professional sports. It has only won a pathetic 2 Stanley Cup Championships in the last 75 years, and one of those came when there were only 6 teams in the entire league (1940). Hell, the second one came only after the Rangers acquired half of the cash poor Edmonton Oilers team (1994). Currently, this is a team that has a virtual all-star team of offensive weapons (Jaromir Jagr, Chris Drury, Scott Gomez, Brendan Shanahan, Martin Straka), and yet somehow it managed to score among the fewest goals of any team in the NHL. They have only won one cup in the past 75 or so years. The "fans" at MSG don't give a hoot about the team, they are just there because their company has tickets. They would be a last place team if it were not for the goal tender.
