This shop is absolutely incredible. They have helped me out with SO many clothing problems! I once had to go get an outfit for Coachella really last minute and I came to the shop on a Tuesday in hopes to get it by Thursday and they made it happen! It made my dreams come true and the outfit came out looking incredible. The staff is really nice, the quality of work is phenomenal and the timing was exceptional! I Took two pairs of pants to this New York Tailor, Heirbeto Garcia Promised to have my pants ready December 24th between the hours of 5:00pm-6:00pm i arrive at 4:48pm to pick up my pants and the shop was closed, AND THE SHOP IS CLOSED UNTIL JANUARY 1st 2025 these Pants were needed, especially I trusted this tailor shop to get the job done! HE FORGOT TO TAILOR MY WEDDING DRESS. I took my rehearsal wedding dress here to make it shorter. When he asked me when I needed it by. I told him to take as much time as he needed. He said a week I came back a week later, and he had simply forgotten. I expressed that it was for my wedding and now I don't have a dress to wear. this is extremely upsetting, especially at the high price as they charge. Eddie saved my wedding dress. I purchased a custom cut, very delicate silk gown that already had a tiny hole in the neck after just two days of hanging in my closet. My original tailor said I should try to get a new gown -- even though I was one month out from my wedding and it wasn't an option! Eddie was able to easily fix the hole, hem my gown and take in the bust. I was on such a tight timeline and he always made me feel confident that the gown would be done on time. I visited his shop 6 times and he was always so accommodating and professional. Eddie made my wedding dress perfect and the experience was a delight. A friend recommended this place, so I was looking forward to potentially finding a new go-to tailor, but my experience was bad from start to finish. The front desk person (I'm assuming is the owner?) was condescending and unwilling to listen to any input I had in terms of my garment. Since this was my first time at this shop, I tried to trust the chef in this case and figured I could live with his gruff attitude and challenging tone if the work was good - however they didn't even do the alterations correctly and had to do them again. They did not apologize or admit they were at fault by the way, and did not turn around the second set of alterations by the date they promised they would. The cherry on top was, after I asked about a specific alteration they made, the front desk person/owner patted me like a dog, and said, "it's okay, it's okay you don't understand." I am thrilled to have found Eddie at New York Tailor! This place is a gem - great value for exceptional tailoring with a quick turnaround. I brought a brand new David's Bridal bridesmaid dress that was way too long even with heels and within one week it got fixed into an expertly sewn gown at a more reasonable length. My consultation for a simple hem job took about 10 minutes and my dress was ready in 7 days. A normal dress hemming is $35 but because this dress had so much extra fabric and was formal, I paid $45 total. They did a great job on a bridesmaid dress of mine, but it wasn't ready on the day I told them (I told them a week early to be safe), and the day I went to pick it up I called ahead and they went "Uh, which dress? What are we doing to it? Yes it's ready" like they'd forgotten about it and we're gonna fix it on the two hours before I came. So, go ahead and use this shop, but build in like two or three fake deadlines and keep on top of them. read more

Brought in a sequined gown which had straps that were too short on me and as a result the armholes were too tight. They took some fabric from the dress train and extended the straps (nearly seamlessly, it was hardly noticeable). Excellent work!!! read more

Called on a Saturday morning and asked if they could turn around an alteration same day and they did! My daughter had a quinceañera to attend Saturday afternoon and her dress was too long and kept being stepped on. We dropped off at New York Tailor Shop and 2.5 hours later, dress was ready! Eddie is the BEST! First dress alteration review: My first time I went to New York Tailor was to alter a wedding guest dress I had bought online. The dress was plain and too long. Eddie suggested how to put a THIGH SLIT on the dress and to take the dress in more on the back side so it would fit my waist better. Before alterations, the dress was too long, didn't fit at the waist and had no slits in the skirt. After, the dress fit PERFECTLY, and had a nice leg opening slit in the skirt. Even though the dress had a skirt lining, which I thought would be too complicated to add a slit, the alterations team made it work and it looks so professional! I will take all my alterations here! Great price. Look at the picture with the long blue navy dress I posted here. Second dress alteration review: I bought a nice Calvin Klein black dress I got on sale for $29 from a discount store that was too big on me, but I knew Eddie could help me get it altered at a VERY reasonable price. The sides were taken in and the hem on the inside was finished and nicely pressed. They used the serger sewing machine method to finish off the hems, and it looked even better and neater than Calvin Klein's original hem! The result was a nice fitted silhouette and they did it the same day for me because I got there first thing in the morning. Another man named Eduardo helped me get the dress fitted and he knew exactly the best way to take the dress sides in since there were some pleats on the back. During this time I lost a lot of weight, 31 pounds to be exact and lost several inches. Then I found out my bridal salon did not do alterations [*insert panic and a sleepless night*]. I collect and wear vintage that's anywhere from 100-80 years old and this is the only place I trust to take care of my clothes, listen to my concerns, and keep in touch. In addition to that, when the dry cleaner I went to ruined my silk wedding dress by washing it and shrinking it a month before my wedding (Pristine Cleaners, do not go there), he took my replacement dress which was a size too big and made it fit perfectly on a very tight timeline. Their work is always beautifully done, and even when I ask for my alterations to be done without cutting the garment (so they are reversible for the next person who inherits my pieces) the results are perfect. read more

I went to get a dress hemmed and fixed from the v neck. He charged me 35$ The minus one star was because he said he'd have it Friday and it wasn't ready till Saturday...so I guess make sure you call before you go because there is no parking and you kind of have to walk if you park far. read more
