Got my first post-quarantine mani/pedi here! I had made an appointment elsewhere (which ended up being a nightmare) so I called Empire and they said they could take me in 20 minutes. The place smelled so fresh and clean and there was only one other customer when I walked in around 4pm. They were really friendly in greeting me (sometimes rare at a nail salon) and they gave me a water bottle upon arrival. The woman doing my nails cleaned all the seats before I sat in them, you are required to wear a mask at all times, and there is a panel separating you from the manicurist (love, love and love). They took their sweet time cleaning my hands and feet and made sure to use new tools for me. They have a good variety of colors for regular and gel but note that they do not do dip powder! I can't say enough about this place. I visited my first time in the summer shortly after I moved to the city. Lakshmi always does a phenomenal job on my manicures and pedicures and they last forever. This place is clean and accommodating. They're always super busy and people leave happy. This salon is not convenient for me to get to from my apartment, but I continue to come here because I know the quality I will get. The only sad thing is that they only do regular polish and gel polish when it comes to nails so if you wanted a full set or dip you would have to go somewhere else. I've been going to empire beauty spa for about a year now. The place is relatively small but extremely clean and neat and they do wonderful work. The services that I regularly get are gel manicure, pedicure, Brazilian wax, and eyebrow threading. Since I have been getting my nails done here my nails have grown long and strong. My gel doesn't lift or peel. The lady who does my nail is "Lux ming" (I'm sure I spelled that wrong, sorry) but she does an amazing job. She is patient with her work. She shapes and cleans nails to perfection. I love that she doesn't try to rush but pays close attention to detail. The color selection is somewhat limited but it does the job. They DO NOT do acrylic nails here only gel and regular manicures. They can do nail repair. If my nail is chipped or cracked they will add a touch of nail glue and file it down to repair it. My gel polish lasts about 3 weeks. For eyebrows they always go a great job. If you want them super arched or just cleaned up they follow instructions and are very precise. I have not had a bad experience with my eyebrows. This place gives one of the best Brazilian waxes I have ever had. They use soft wax and are both effective and efficient. The room just like the rest of the ship is impeccably clean and tidy. The wax itself is fast and practically painless. In addition to these services they also offer facials and massages which I haven't received. The ambiance is soothing and quiet. The workers are friendly. They give all clients a water bottle upon entry and will take your bag, shoes, etc for you and set it to the side. I love empire beauty spa and I anticipate remaining a loyal customer for as long as I can. I wish they did nail designs but besides that I can't complain. read more

My go-to nail salon. Family owned and female run!! What more could I ask for? I began coming here when I was doing grad school at Columbia because it's super close. I still come here even now that I live in a location that makes it much less to convenient to get here. The staff is friendly and really does make you feel like family. They don't require appointments but I always message then to let them know I'm coming in. My most recent gel manicure lasted me 3 weeks without chipping off! They are thorough and have great attention to detail. Good variety of colors, both gel and regular and I always come here to get my eyebrows done too (only $7!). I recently got eyelash extensions for my birthday and I'm absolutely thrilled with the results. I have short gingery eyelashes and hooded eyes. Meticulous and clean with a decent selection of OPI and Essie colors, including some Essie Couture for a few dollars more. They get busy so make sure to call ahead, but don't expect them to hold perfectly to your appointment time -- I think most times I was seen 10-15 minutes after the actual time (but definitely ahead of any walk-ins). I took off one star for this + the face that my mani did chip after 2 days... but my pedicure's going strong. They don't include tax in their prices so you get weird change back if you pay in cash.
