I am a double amputee so until I get my prothesises I do not have the luxury of a wheelchair. Because the ride was " confirmed" I was discharged from the facility. Safe Ride cancelled that day. Because of that the facility I am in was charging me private pay for to stay and said it cannot help since I have because I have been discharged and Safe Ride cancelled on me two more times. It is irresponsible and, I think cruel to not have followed through. Do not ambulances have stretchers/ cots? or do the patients have to sit up in wheelchairs? I would have gladly have taken a transport for a wheelchair but the ambulance service takes one from door to door so there was no way I could get into bed Health concerns with stretchers and cots are the same with ALL patients! Called Safe Ride Handicapped Transport and the number was disconnected. Great all round customer service that should go in the annals of Public Services as the most UNRELIABLE. AN UPDATE: In the middle of my former despair, I received a call from Safe Ride Customer Service from Management stating they are very sorry for the cancellations etc. The ambulance I would have had to arrange carried an initial upfront cost of over $500.00. The company offered to pay for my ride home!! I am certain that this type of generosity was a real exception. My dilemma was solved much to my great relief. So I am basically undoing the strong negativity to thank this company for their incredible generosity. So I give Safe Ride four stars.
