Had a sticky bun and a fudge parfait, which totaled $10. Felt slightly steep for what they were, and the sizes, but whatever. Both were pretty delicious, but not as good as treats from other area bakeries. The sticky bun in particular tasted a bit...aged. Grabbed a cinnamon streusel bread thingy on the way out ($7.50) that hasn't been tested yet. Overall, an okay experience!

It was a pastry that I was after and Flour City answered my call. There were a selection of pastries and pretzels in the case and loaves of bread neatly displayed on shelves against the wall. A pistachio chocolate croissant caught my eye and my dad got a soft pretzel. The cashier was very friendly and answered my chocolate snob questions, ensuring that I was not going to get milk chocolate or a sugary chocolate spread in my croissant. Not only was my croissant made with semisweet chocolate and a nutty not too sugary pistachio spread, but it was also flaky and buttery as a croissant should be AND I was given a warm out of the oven one rather than one from the case. Sorry, no pic and I devoured it lickety split; but, I did take a breath to offer my dad a taste. What a delectable treat it was! My dad enjoyed his soft pretzel. It was dense and topped with a nice amount of large salt. Unfortunately for him, he didn't get the "fresh out of the oven" special, but he still enjoyed it. There were probably about 20 or so tables that I believe Public Provisions and Flour City share.

We arrived within the first couple hours of opening, so there was a large selection of goods to choose from; everything looked so good! ... And if smelled wonderful too! However, I did not like that nothing had prices listed, at least not that my friends or I were able to locate. It also would have been a nice touch if they offered coffee and/or tea to go with their items... but, since they are more of a takeout bakery (only having outdoor seating), it may not make sense for them. I opted for a savory option of a breakfast sandwich made on a jalapeno scone with egg, perfectly crispy bacon and melty cheddar cheese. My friends got a pastry and a muffin. My sandwich was really tasty & fresh; I thought the price was kinda steep, coming in around $15. My one friend enjoyed her pastry. My other friend had a very hard time getting the wrapper to peel off of her muffin, losing pieces of muffin in order to remove all the wrapper. I would consider visiting again, but would really like for them to have pricing listed somewhere.

There's a wonderful looking chocolate cake with mascarpone and caramel in the middle and on top, very pretty. I say "I have guests for dinner, can I have 3 slices". This cake is wildly unequally cut. She starts to give me the slices that are about an inch wide, moving in that direction each guest will get very different servings. I ask if I can have different slices and she says "no, because then it won't look as nice sitting there". I question if the container she's about to put them in is tall enough. She assures me it is, and it's the biggest one they have. It's not. I say "I'll just carry it out without shutting it". As she tries to fannagle the last piece in the box and it's sliding and separating. She then goes to shut the box. I'm looking at the mess thinking how will I serve this? Then I say, "pork is being served for dinner, what bread would you recommend"? She says "probably any but not the current, sunflower, flax", which shocks me because I imagine pork and currents as a wonderful match. Anyway, I buy 4 loaves and a breakfast foccia. I'm not offered a receipt and in fact not told a total or presented the screen to see a total. Instead, the screen is slightly tilted to the side for me to reach around and scan my card. As the items are being packed, she puts the frosted cinnamon rolls on the bottom and goes to put 4 loaves of bread on top. Sweet mother of Pete, I say "would you mind packaging the bread separately so the cinnamon roll topping doesn't get smashed and stick to the box?" At this point, I'm a bit frustrated and I'm pretty sure they just want me to leave. The foccia was salty, chuck full of herbs with tender bacon and whole egg cooked so that it's not dry or crumbly and probably soft enough to spread, surrounded by bread airy and soft, still having a good satisfying chew. When I reached out to some food loving friends the sentiment was, "always great items" but everyone had a situation where service was "dry, dismissive, aloof". The wares were good, but I'm not thinking good enough to potentially have a repeat experience.

I have tried the batard, the einkorn loaf and the pain de campagne, all of which were very good. The crust on the batard was everything you could want it to be and the interior was soft and chewy. The einkorn was good and I would be happy with that every day but my favorite is the pain de campagne. I will get that every time with a variety of others added for variety. I stuck with the bread. My wife had some of the other baked goods and had no complaints. Finally, I don't know what they have in stock for the breads because I ordered and paid online and then picked the order up. I like that I didn't drive over there to find out they were sold out.

Again, not too sweet, with a rice-based whipped topping . I kind of wish the mango flavor was a little stronger, but it feels like the flavors are naturally achieved rather than with artificial flavoring so I can't complain. She was able to advise me on the best pie to get given my allergies and dietary restrictions. Highly recommend!

Their store is not big or fancy type. They sell ice cream but the price is a bit high so I didn't get it. Staffs are friendly. They sell BBQ during summer and have outdoor seats. Today, I got a turtle sundae, and it was huge and full of toppings and pecans. They don't skimp here. Definitely recommend
