Let me start off by saying I have never left a review of any business until now. Yet when you receive such a dishonest service and receive no sense of remorse from the Manager or Shop owner I felt compelled to sign up and submit a review. About 3 weeks ago I was calling around various station to find assistance with mounting 4 tires on my truck. When I spoke with Ike the mechanic on duty he had quoted me $45 per axle. I ask, is this for each wheel and he replied not per axle 2 wheels each. so I booked an appointment to drop off my truck the next morning. When I called later that afternoon for an ETA to pick up they said it would be ready by 5. Unfortunately I could not stop by until after 6pm and they told me that it would not be a problem as someone would be there until 9pm. When I eventually made my way to the Shell station the gentleman working let me know that the bill came to $250. I was shocked and asked this is not correct it should be closer to $110 after tax as I was quoted $45 per axle. He let me know that he could not do anything with the bill, and I was not expecting that he could, so I left very frustrated and began wondering about a bait and switch scam. My wife told me to let it go for the night until you could speak with the manager or owner in the morning as they opened up at 7am. When I called the next day at 7am, Ike answered and after I explained my frustration, he said, he was referring to 45 min per axle, not $45 per axle. I let him know that that is not what he quoted as I would have never dropped off my truck, with this outrageous rates to mount tires. He said that he would talk to the manager and call me back after 8am. When he called back I was informed that they would take off the tire disposal fee of $20 but that is all she was willing to do. At this point I was left with no recourse but to pick up my truck and discuss with the manager in person. When I discussed the bait and switch and dishonesty that has happened I was not offered any sympathy or apology but rather, this is all we can do. Lesson learned after stewing over this crap service and dishonesty is buyer beware at this Shell Station. If you are thinking about getting any service done here don't. If you chose to take the risk, make sure you get a written, signed cost before handing them your keys. Ike is a nice guy but I am certain his hands are tied to the poor ownership and the manager who I suspect is the owner. I drove by today and noticed your store front is boarded up. Looks like you are angering more than just myself. If I could rate you a NO STAR I would. Honesty and Integrity go a long way and this Shell ownership has neither. Been their 3 times for 3 cars. My Lexus had a sensor problem that everyone told me it needed a part. Took it to them and they figured out it was faulty wiring from the previous owner. Fixed my fit and just took my Mercedes in for an oil change and brake problem. They fixed it and found the faulty brake problem for $160 Comes down to trust. Robert is the mechanic and he doesn't overcharge people nor will he screw anyone over. I trust them and send friends. I was referred by my little sister who gave them glowing reviews. read more

Robert is an HONEST mechanic whom I don't have to flirt with to get quality & legitimate automotive work!! He is a mechanical Genius who will educate you how & why, showing you, before doing agreed upon work, while respecting your bank account!! He allowed me to skip diagnostic & pay for sensor immediately, instictively knowing, which fixed the problem. Oh & never trust your "mechanic" friend who wants to help you while working in their Daddy's yard!! My "friend" took my $ but lied about doing the work & Robert proved work hadn't been done, took pics for me, fixed it & AT THE LOWEST POSSIBLE PRICE WITH BETTER QUALITY PARTS. I had taken my car here was a very bad experience, i forgot my coupon at home for oil change i told can you Adjust they said you have to get it . He asked me to leave my driving license or payment card before . How can i drive without my license such a big mistake to go there . Please don't if you get any coupons also , after oil change my car has a problem it doesn't give alarm or the sound is gone when i lock the car .He assure me your car is good no problem . After i call him there is no sound when i lock after oil change he mentioned no there us no problem with the oil change i didn't do anything. You have to bring the car for diagnostics it will be $109 and additional for any change . It was my wort experience taking the car for the coupon !! read more

Robert and Ike at the Newcastle Shell service station came to the rescue when I got the back seat belt extremely stuck in a toddler car seat. After trying for half an hour to get it unstuck and getting it lodged even worse, I gave up and tried going to the nearby Shell service station to see if they could dislodge it. At first they looked at it and said "I don't know if we can get that out." I was resigned to the thought that I would have to cut my seatbelt. But then undaunted by the challenge, Robert, a fellow dad, made it his mission to free the seatbelt. He and Ike used a bunch of tools and a lot of elbow grease, but it was pretty stuck. It looked hopeless for a while, but then finally, there was a shout; they had dislodged the belt! I gave them a standing ovation. It was a pretty unusual request, and they charged a very fair price for the work. And all through it, they were super nice. I would definitely go back there for service in the future. read more

The owner was not as pleasant as she seems in the other reviews. She was rude, and acted like she didn't have time to help the person in front of me. She took a personal call from her cell phone right in the middle of the transaction. She waved someone else in to ring us up. If this is her form of professionalism, then she needs to not own a gas station or any business for that matter. read more

Drove in to have lights checked as warning on dash. Guy at register evaluated lights. He Discussed with Alex and Alex took over. For about $25, Alex replaced two bulbs (one hard to get to) rechecked all and I was on the road again. read more

Dennis has been servicing our families vehicles for a number of years - everything from our kids crappy old Mazda 929 with 225,000 miles (which he finally suggested we send to the scrap heap rather than to try to keep it alive) to my wife's coveted Jaguar XJ8L. He and the other mechanics at the station are honest, helpful and courteous and stand behind the work they do. Service bay is always clean and organized and they keep me in the loop about what's happening - to me a sign that they care about their business and their customers. Once again, Newcastle Shell saved me a bunch of $$. I received a quote for a part replacement (that just went out of warranty coverage, thanks GM) from the dealership. After successful defibrillation, I stopped in here and talked to Robert. Total estimated repair cost was 45% less than the dealership. High quality work, great value and prompt scheduling. read more

Unprofessional and unreliable I made an appointment to fix my turn signals for Saturday 11/26/2011 at 10:00am. I brought my car on time, and I asked for an oil change as well. After three hours they said the oil change is done, but the Technician is not there to fix my signals. I don't know why they didn't tell me that when I made the appointment or when they took the car. So, I wasted 3 hours of my Saturday to pay for an overpriced oil change. They didn't even put the sticker/reminder for the next oil change nor did any checks like other mechanics do. I ended up going to Midas on Factorial Mall Boulevard to get the job done. read more

I moved to the area about 3 weeks ago and happened to find this place on Google maps because it is off the main street. I was really low on gas and wanted the closest gas station I could find. Went there one evening after they closed to get gas. Clean, small, not many pumps, situated between many homes. I would have never found it if not for the maps. It's not on my regular path. I really liked the look of it. I went in today to refill my propane tanks. I ended up talking to the blonde lady who I found out is the owner. Super sweet and really nice lady. I immediately liked her. When I said I needed propane, she seemed excited to help me and said she would be right out. While she refilled my tanks, we talked about her late husband, and that I use my propane for brewing beer. I wasn't there more than 10 minutes, but she was very personable, friendly, and made a good first impression. I'm not sure how competitive their gas prices are since I didn't get gas today, but I would come back because she is such a nice person. I forgot to ask her name, but after some Google search, I found out her name is Beth. She is one of the nicest, sweetest ladies I have talked to in a long time. I can't speak about their automotive service since I don't use mechanics. I pay friends to work on my car because of bad experiences in the past. read more

I signed up to review just for this place. I had a flat tire and needed a plug. They were very polite, got me in and out in 15 minutes with no appointment and only charged $20 for the repair. This was a perfect customer experience and I wanted to thanks the staff there.... you now have a life long customer. read more

I just have to put in a good word for these guys. I've popped in numerous times with small problems and they've always handled things quickly and sometimes even for free! I've had scheduled service done there as well. Always quick and reasonably priced. Mostly they are helpful and friendly. Great to have them as neighbors. read more

Newcastle shell is one of the best shop around, Dennis and his staff are great. I had a car that had been in may dealership shop they could never find a problem with the car. I took it to Dennis he found the problem and it got fixed. My car ran great again and still does. Thanks Dennis. read more

Had a warning light come on while driving and pulled over at this Shell station to check things out. Sure enough, a coolant hose coupler had snapped off spraying coolant everywhere. Wasn't about to drive off, and lucky enough there was a mechanic on site to ask for an opinion. He looked at the problem with me and gave me his thoughts and even an estimate. Was very nice of him, but rather than paying nearly $1100.00 to have a critical part replaced as he suggested, that DIDNT need replacing, I opted to wait and have a friend bail me out. My friend picked up a couple tools, the parts that were needed from the auto parts store (it was a $6.79 part mind you) and once they finally waded through Seattle traffic, it took about 20 minutes of finagling under the hood and I was on my way. Fixed and good to go. Overall, the situation didn't leave me feeling like I'd go back for their auto repair services. read more
