I have passed this quaint and unassuming Market for years. "You must stop there..." every time I pass. Finally! On a stroke of luck, I just finished a "hands free" call with the Mrs that we're expecting company for dinner. Well, there I was again about to pass, "Nooooope, not this time, Fella! You're going to buy some fresh cut meat for the grill." I finally listened to that inner voice. I park, get on Yelp right away, check-in, snap a couple pics before I walk in. Inside, a mouth watering sandwich board - featuring Boar's Head brand (a favorite). The deli counter was small and very impressive, in fact the whole place is small. Not to worry, the meat counter and freezers were there, too. I got to business, talking with the staff and the owner. Dam nice guy. This has been a family enterprise since 1963'ish. He recommended fresh cut, inch thick, sirloin for the grill. Offered up some excellent rub and directions! I said to the cashier, "He's a really nice guy." She replies, "I think so, too, he's my dad." Family business indeed. Shortly after that, he comes out with a beautiful vacuum packed Kielbasa, yup made right there in the shop. He handed to me and said "Enjoy." That's old time business for sure and an excellent way to build a strong customer base. That I shall be.

Wonderful place to get a nice cut of meat! My husband and I just purchased a smoker and wanted to test it out on a nice brisket! We drive by Newington Meat Center nearly daily and were so excited to finally try this place out. Ordering was very easy. We had no clue what size of brisket to order and the man who answered the phone gave us great advice on what to get and that would allow for leftovers. After smoking their brisket for nearly 9 hours- we were left with a delicious, tender, juicy brisket! My husband also picked up a pack of their cheese and potato pierogies (had this a different night) and loved them! Even during a pandemic- this place had friendly and accommodating staff and high quality meat! Can't wait to come back!

Store-made potato and cheese pierogis sautéed at home with butter and onion. Yum!

Got strip steaks today. Nicely trimmed, good price. Apparently all meats are hand cut per order. Will go back again!

Welcome to the great stuffed shrimp taste-off of 2021!!…read more In search of the best stuffed shrimp in the area to serve on Christmas Eve, I posted on various Facebook pages to solicit recommendations. Of course, I can't just trust strangers on Facebook, so we did what any self respecting Yelpers would do...we did a trial run of five spots over a two day period, ordering 4 stuffed shrimp from each. We sampled them plain, with lemon, butter, and cocktail sauce, critiquing the size, quality of the shrimp, taste and quality of the stuffing, and overall value for the price. With, of course, photos of both the raw starting point and the cooked final product. As Public Market received the most accolades in my surveys, it was our first stop. I had not been there before, it's a cute Italian market with a good selection of stuff. There is no signage for the stuffed shrimp, and they aren't in the case. So I guess it's one of those...if you know, you know. Otherwise, no shrimp for you! I audibly gasped when the woman handed me a plastic container with 4 shrimp and $32 and change noted on top. Was it upside down? Were my glasses dirty? No...at $26.99/lb, these bad boys rang in at $8+ each, the most expensive by far in the taste-off. They also topped the charts in cooking time, needing nearly 40 minutes to cook at 375. Most others were in the 25 minute range at 350. But just look at them - they're beautiful. I so wanted to love them! Unfortunately, the stuffing wasn't appetizing to me. It had chunks of what I think were fresh celery and onion, that remained crunchy even after baking for 40 minutes. It wasn't a texture I appreciated, and the stuffing was otherwise pretty bland. Better with lemon, even better dipped in butter, but for the price, they should shine alone. Hubby was hoping for something more like the ritz cracker type of stuffing, so he was also disappointed. Public Market came in at #2 out of 5 in the great shrimp taste-off of 2021. While I wasn't thrilled about the price or the taste of the stuffing, there's no arguing that the shrimp had a commanding presence, were fresh, perfectly cleaned, and tasty. I knew if we ordered these I'd be broke and figuring out how to amp up the seasoning at home, but my guests would have been visually impressed. And it seems like so many others love these shrimp, so maybe it's just an us problem. I will go back to Public Market to try other things, as the service was friendly and the quality of their ingredients to be top notch.

Not to mention that all of the items are perfectly aligned. Almost a little scary lol, but very aesthetically pleasing! Stopped in to grab some quick items for lunch the next day and since it was the first time in, we decided to walk around and get a good feel of the store. The desserts counter is absolutely beautiful. We got their 3 for $12 option and my favorite had to be the cannoli tart. Love to see that they make so many things in house and I will definitely be back. The service was super friendly and we got to sit in their table area and do a dessert taste test, which was fun.

Particularly during the holidays, where he is talking about how to prepare your holiday meals. Second, my friend from New Jersey is probably the Duchess of Stew Leonard's and I had to see what this was all about. Here is my story It's like going to a Trader Joe's if you're on the West Coast, BuCees if you're on Central and southeast part of the country or I don't know I suppose a typical local giant supermarket. Here are my observations. They accommodate the local people they have so many things you can do with your children. If you're shopping in the store, they have mascots and different games you can play. The store is clean and organize organized There are many local products, they support the local community Would I go back? Probably if I lived closer, I would love to buy their vegetables which was very neatly displayed and priced. They were busy! That says something right?
